  1. Sure. Here you go. I should note that I do no have all the emulators set up yet. I was working through the NES then the SNES before I realized that I had a naming issue to rectify. If we need to discuss a specific setup, lets look at Nes (Nestopia). Also, I am using map files for the game list. I have been updating them ongoingly as the gamelist changes (either using Mapfile Maker or pulling a directory list to a text file and editing it via excel). Thanks again. GameEx.ini
  2. I had hoped that I had flagged some setting, but at least it's a very minor issue. Thanks a lot for looking at it.
  3. No, I am not. I am using individual roms that are unzipped.
  4. In my theme layout for the consoles, the fields are set up as the pic below shows: Note that as I arrow down through the description of the Create Snaps in the left panel, the Select Line 1 field will mirror whatever line the cursor is on at the time. This functionality feels odd to me, so I am wondering if I set something up incorrectly or if this is the intended functionality (and if it is intended, then how is this functionality to be used?). I also did not see a seperate page setup for the Create Snap function, so I assume that is not an option. Thanks for taking the time to help.
  5. Can someone give me some guidence on how I can go about updating my non-mame roms so they match the databases used by gameex? If an example is needed, let's start with NES. I tried using the latest copy of GoodTools to update a set of NES roms (and did so successfully). However, I found that when I viewed some roms in GameEx, the data for the Select Line 1, Select Line 2, and Description parameters were not populating. I looked at the NES database using a SQL viewer and while I did note that some of the roms did not have any data to populate, there were a few whose filename did match the 'GoodName' field (not including codes) and still did not display data in GameEx...so now I am trying to figure out where to go from here. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
  6. So, I have been tinkering with the Theme Editor a bit. I currently have the 'Select Line 1' Parameter displayed. I noticed that when I go into the Create Snaps option in GameEx, the 'Select Line 1' parameter will display whatever line the select bar is currently on. I do want the 'Select Line 1' Parameter on my theme page, but do not want this funtionality on the Creat Snaps page. Is there something I can do to rememdy this? Thanks.
  7. OK, that explains it. I did not read the description closely enough. My fault. I had at one time created some mapfiles for a different GameEx installation. At that time, I used the Rom Name | List Name format. When I created the new mapfile for the recent installation, I saw the notation about the need for quotations and jumped to the (incorrect) conclusion that I needed BOTH the pipe and the quotes. Sorry for the false alarm. I thought I came across a documentation error and just wanted to report it.
  8. When I was setting up one of my emulators, I decided to use a mapfile. The tooltip and instructions link in the Setup Wizard state that the name to the right of the pipe should be enclosed in quotes. However, when I viewed the game list in GameEx, the quotes were also displayed. When I removed the quotes from the mapfile, it appears to work fine, so I assume that the tooltip/instructions are incorrect. Either that or GameEx is not parsing out the quotes when displaying the list. If it matters, the theme I am using is "Blue as the Sky".
  9. Hi Tom. Thanks for the suggestion. I have not fiddled with Emulator groups yet, but I will give it a look.
  10. Thanks for the info null. I only have a handful of Steam games to add, so I will probably give the guide a go. Most of the games I want to set up are modern renditions of retro games like Hammerwatch, Bro Force, the new Gauntlet, Magicka, etc...There are not a ton of gamepad/joystick-friendly games on Steam as of yet, but with the release of SteamOS and the presense of Big Picture mode, maybe we will see more.
  11. I am setting up my new HTPC with GameEx and am having a bit of a challenge getting my steam games set up the way I would like. I am aware that there is a integrated option for Steam in Game Ex, but I would prefer to have my steam games grouped in with non-steam games in a single list. Therefore, I had planned to set up each game individually and then use the option for custom menus. I was able to set up a steam game using the Web Application option and the steam 'URL', but the result was not fantastic. The browser window would open and be displayed for a few seconds and then the game would run. However, once in a while when the game was closed, it would revert back to the empty browser window instead of GameEx. Can someone tell me what cleanest way to set up an individual Steam game is? Thanks.
  12. How would you set this up for Irfanview to manually take snapshots? I just want to fill in the blanks in my collection. I tried and did not have any success.
  13. It just is, damn it!!! OK, seriously now... The 'greatness' of this program is that it does so many things right. What makes GameEx so good is the robustness of the package, the ease of configuration, and the dedication of Tom and the community that surrounds GameEx. When I started looking for a front end, I was sure I could find a free solution to use for a couple of emulators. I certainly was not ready a the goodness I found in GameEx. I seldom purchase 'shareware/donationware' because too many times they are either sub-standard or overpriced (or both). After seeing what the program could do, how easy it was to set up, and how much activity there was between Tom and the community, I was extremely impressed...later on, it bothered me that I was using such an excellent product and not showing support for it. The only right thing to do was purchase a license... So, if any of you'all haven't put down some cash for this fine creation...consider giving a little...
