  1. To clarify, it's the "Mod background", "Mod foreground" that let's you use two layered pictures, right? I can't seem to get the "Mod foreground" image to display, I've tried selecting it and trying the "eye" icon, but nothing is changed in the .ini file afterwards. Please help, anyone? Emph
  2. What kind of graphics chip is in that thing? Does it support Soft15kHz? Emph
  3. So, Headkaze, the new "layered" pictures in V4 skins, anyway of controlling what is under/on top of them? Like this: Game List & filter options, buttons (top) decoration.png (on top of background and decoration) preview.png/.mng Background.png (at the bottom) Also, what's the difference between the "image" and the "image 2 fields" in the editor? I guess one if the "preview" and one is for marquees or something? Thanks Emph
  4. How do you go about making animated boot screens? I'd like a screen that mimicks ROM loading. That would fit the cab perfectly. Emph
  5. I know you probably don't want to waste space with a lot of horisontal games then, but GameEx has a setting that can show games by orientation. If you hit the [tab] key, the interface rotates to vertical and only shows those games. Create a custom skin for GameEx while you're at it. Emph
  6. Well if you like The Matrix, see Dark City. It's like The Matrix, but with actual actors. Emph
  7. If your native language isn't English, change the keyboard layout to English (this is available from the Control Panel). This will (according to X-Arcade's site) give you an overall better perfomance. If the Num Lock is "off", player 1 controls (joystick) will be Numpad 8 (up) Numpad 2 (down) Numpad 4 (left) Numpad 6 (left). If it's on it should be the directional arrows. Emph
  8. Great. Will start my skinning very soon. Emph
  9. I have a question. I've made a vertical theme (V2 I guess). The thing is with V2 themes, they would be stretched (maximized) to the resolution, so when making a vertical theme, it would look totally different in horisontal mode (stretched out horisontally without aspect ratio maintained) and when in the right mode (in vertical mode) it would be corrected (squeezed together) horisontally by the resolution. Now, If I want to create a new vertical theme for the V4 format, all objects will maintain their ratio, correct? I haven't yet tried the latest version of the Theme Editor (nor have I tried the latest build of GameEx) so I don't know what will happen. Is this (the creation of vertical screen themes) taken into consideration for V4 themes? Otherwise it would be cool if there was a "vertical theme" mode for the Theme Editor that would let you choose a working resolution (640x480) and put bezels on the sides (put the toolbars of the Theme Editor there?) so you can work on your theme in the correct aspect ratio without having to rotate your monitor. I'm really exited about this update guys, great work! Emph
  10. Nice SNK sticks bkenobi. Play Heavy Barrel a lot? Emph
  11. 1) No. 2) Unfortunately, No. Emph
  12. Some really nice manic shmups here: http://www004.upp.so-net.ne.jp/x_xgameroom/ Especially Blue Wish Ressurection Plus and Aegis Edge are great fun if you like CAVE games like Ketsui, Progear, ESP Galuda, ESP Ra.De. or DoDonpachi. Emph
  13. It would be easier if you could tell us what kind of games you already love. I'm a shooter and adventure fan myself mostly, so my top games include Rygar, Black Tiger, Flying Shark, Twin Cobra, ESP Ra. De. , Do Donpachi, Raiden Fighters 2, Solomon's Key and Metal Slug 1/X/3. Emph

    XOR files?

I'm sorry then Tom. I got it sorted out using ClrMAMEPro + rollbacks. Emph

    XOR files?

I'm trying to run some CPS2 games in AdvanceMAME 0.106 for a friend, but some games wont run without xor's, and now since that is solved in versions after 0.112u2, they seem to have vanished from the internet. As these were freely downloadable from Razoola, it should be okay to request these if someone has backups. If it's not ok, just ignore this post. The xors I'm looking for is Dungeons & Dragons 1&2 (ddtod, ddsom) and Gigawing (gigawing). So, if you have backups, please share the xors. Emph
  16. Looks very slick. Excellent work Mr. Speirs. Emph
  17. You can set MAME inputs to button combinations if that's what you're looking for? Just select an input option (GUI cancel for example) and hit 'enter' on your keyboard - press the buttons you want to use for exiting. Emph
  18. Looks nice: http://www.charliesgames.com/ Emph
  19. The thing with getting a real JAMMA cabinet is that when you get tired of having too many games and the endless installing/config work that a MAME cabinet "offers" you can just plug in a JAMMA pcb and enjoy the real thing. But hey, maybe that's just me. Many cabinet enthusiasts actually enjoy the building/configurating more than actually playing games. I did that for a while, but you really never get satisfied, that's my experience. Emph
  20. If my girlfriend had asked me that, I'd say "Would you prefer I got a younger girlfriend as well?" Emph
  21. If you have a working JAMMA cabinet get at J-Pac @ www.ultimarc.com and hook it up to your computer. Probably you won't even need to buy an ArcadeVGA, just install the free app Soft15khz: http://community.arcadeinfo.de/showthread.php?t=9367 I use this exact same setup with my Taito EGRET II cabinet and a laptop running 640x480. Here's a nice cabinet in the UK: http://www.arcadecabinets.co.uk/index.php?...2&Itemid=32 Emph
  22. I have an EGRET II (which is low-res) that I sometimes hook my latop up to using a J-Pac. The J-Pac prevents any harmful signals reaching your monitor. Try running GameEx @ 640x480 and see what happens. If it doesn't work, you'll need to install a little program called Soft15khz. But I'm guessing your monitor will handle it. Emph
  23. http://www.reactos.org/ It's a free, WindowsXP-compatible OS. Would be perfect for people building cabs. I haven't had much time to read up on it though. Emph
  24. As Astro City is high res, you shouldn't even need special resolutions, so just use regular (some call it Vanilla) MAME. And also, upload a couple of pictures later of your beautiful cabinet. Emph
  25. What make is it? I've read about laptops that gets very hot at high CPU load and turns off before setting itself on fire. Emph
