Wiz, These are actually a little tougher then your previous question but I'll give you some direction and maybe someone else that has had these issues can jump in. 1) Make sure you are running version Pinballx 1.72, I know there was an issue with some screens popping on top of the PF/BG. 2) Make sure your PF is set to monitor #1 in windows. 3) The DMD position problem could be the vpinmame. Even if you are not running a cab, do you know if you installed the cabinet version? Either way, copy your vpinmame.dll to vpinmame_org.dll and d/l the cabinet version from here: http://www.vpforums.org/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=6429 extract this one over your vpinmame.dll. I had you make a backup in case this is not the issue. NOTE: All you need is the vpinmame.dll file from the above link, you can toss the other stuff. 4) Make sure you have your vpinball.exe (or whatever you named it) set to "Run as Admin" 5) Make sure you have your pinballx.exe set to "Run as Admin" I'm hoping the above, fix both issue. Yes. If you load your visual pinball.xml in Game Manager AND then save it you will see those extra lines of code added. This is probably the easiest way, unless you want to update each table in your visual pinball.xml with those additional lines. (Make a backup of your visual pinball.xml file in case anything goes south). The code in your post (and in all of the HP packs you d/l) is just the base xml table code, but additional fields can be added by the programmer. (ie rating, hidedmd, etc.) Hope this helps you out. Z

wizard91, If I understand the issue correctly, I think you are eventually going to want to switch to directb2s back glasses instead of just displaying a static back glass when you a playing. You are correct with this statement "The backglass static image displays fine along with the table image in the pinballx interface and looks great...." The BG/PF images are more for the PinballX interface then for playing the table itself but let me answer the question you asked. Go into game manager or edit the .xml file and look for the following: (this is an example) <game name="Attack from Mars"> <description>Attack from Mars</description> <manufacturer>Bally</manufacturer> <year>1990</year> <type>SS</type> <hidedmd>True</hidedmd> <hidebackglass>False</hidebackglass> <enabled>True</enabled> <rating>5</rating> </game> On the tables you want to display the static BG make sure hidebackglass = False. Check out the PinballX guide that is pinned to the 1st thread in this forum, the appendix has a writeup on the directb2s BG which is probably what you'll switch to very soon. I only use the BG images for Pinball FX2 tables, the other 200+ tables either are directb2s or b2s. Z

Attached is the newest ahk script with Dr Strange added. PITA because they went from a 7 across x 6 down matrix, to a 6 across x 7 down matrix. (those that now how this script works, realize EVERY section needed to be updated ) Krakerman, that is the problem...what maybe correct for me...will not work for you. When I first tried to get this working I realized there were 3 different setups: 1) Steam with applaunch 226980 2) Steam with applaunch 226990 (I'm assuming the difference is when you installed PBFX2 or steam) 3) Steam without any applaunch (offline) Z PinballFX2.zip Pinball FX2.xml

Can you post your: Video Options settings under VP (Preferences --> Video options -->just the Mode and video rez) Your screenres.txt file (usually under x:\vpinball\tables) Your pinballx.ini file. Z

Slashbot, Not sure if you fixed your issue, but I ran into this today with the Attack from Mars DMD video on VPF. Oddly enough the BG/PF videos play fine when scrolling through tables, but the DMD video was just a blank black box. Like punter did I copied a PF video over to the DMD video directory and it worked, so that ruled out my PBX config. The fix...I installed the shark codecs and the AFM DMD video works great. (Note: This is on a test box, not my cab) Z

slydog, You are correct in HP all the tables were set to FALSE, in PBX all the tables need to be TRUE. I still rename B2S tables with the _B2S in the file name but I'm not sure if that is still needed (might have been a carryover from HP). I don't see a blue globe on exit. LaunchBackGlass "Dipsy_Doodle_(Williams_1970)_B2S", True 'True=Launch bg , False=Don't launch bg. Unfortunately, not all tables have a db2s back glass, so I (and I'm sure others) have about 10 tables still with b2s. slydog, what is a table/exe combo you are having issues with, I'll download it right from VPF and see what I get? Z

I know you said it works outside of PBX, but I'm wondering if it's an issue with the old VPMAME and PBX? Do you know what version you are running, and is it CAB or NON-CAB? I'm running the new SAM compiled VPMAME with PinDMDv2 support (r3497 v1.2). I just prepped a desktop version of my cab setup to troubleshoot/test and noticed some strange issues with the DMD. Once I upgraded to a newer version the problems disappeared. Z

I have never loaded dwjukebox under PBX, but randr has it working: http://www.gameex.info/forums/topic/13791-this-was-a-tough-one-to-get-working/?hl=jukebox#entry113906 The above thread has some screenshots that will get you going in the right direction. Z

Can you post a screenshot of your VP key settings and your pinballx.ini? Z

Here is the TFTC 1.3 hi_cab running under PBX. I'm running my PF @ 1920x1080. Other then centering the PF/BG outside PBX and removing the HUD I haven't changed any. What's interesting is your second pic looks like videos of the desktop version (crypt keepers chin is above the flippers). PinballX is defaulting to desktop mode for this table on your setup??? Z
-
Ok, I got past the black PF. This table has some strange HUD that pops up before the PF comes up which I disabled in the FP script. So now it loads the same way in PBX as it does in FP. (Doom not sure if that is what is causing the resolution issue). I'm using the hi_cab version. Z
-
Well, if it's any consolation you are further then me......I just downloaded the TFTC table (version 1.3) so I can see what you are seeing instead of using another FP table......setup the PF/BG outside PBX, saved and played for a few minutes. Then I added it to PBX, it loads, I get a BG but just a black PF. This is the first out of 49 FP tables that I have seen this. I tried to alt-tab to bring the table to the front, but nothing.....coin in, flippers, etc work but it's a black PF. I also tried the usual scroll lock/enter in case the table was way off in space (inside PBX). Z
-
I'm surprised I changed my settings in pinballx.ini from 1920 to 1240 and see the same results as the OP (just to duplicate the issue, I don't play this way). Outside of PBX the table is fine. But like Draco says upgrade to 1.70 and post your pinballx.ini and log files. Z
-
I will say this pinball fx2 took me a long time to get working. The main problem is there is an "offline" version and a steam version which is why one config will work for some and not for others. I do know from experience that this error "I shows loading... and then comes back to PinballX table selection." is because the pinball fx2 game name and config files are not the same name. Z

Look in your pinballx.ini for the below lines in red. My guess is, you have yours set to 1080x1200 or something close? Set these to your screen resolution. [Display] Monitor=0 rotate=270 Windowed=False WindowWidth=1080 WindowHeight=1920 WindowX=0 WindowY=65 PlayFieldBrightness=230 WheelTextColor=ffffffff WheelTextOutlineColor=ff000000 InfoTextColor=ffd9dcdd InfoTextOutlineColor=ff000000 FilterTextColor=ffd9dcdd FilterTextOutlineColor=ff000000 MenuColor=ff0000ff [backGlass] monitor=1 x=0 y=0 width=1920 height=1080 [DMD] Enabled=False monitor=1 x=525 y=850 width=875 height=200 Z

Added this to section 4.8 (document revision 1.02) It would be great if someone can verify that this works: (I have it working, but another working setup to verify would be great) How to not show tables under "All Tables" but JUST as a custom list in PBX. You know you can create custom lists inside PBX that are a subset of All Tables for example.....VP only, FP only, Zen only, Night only, etc. But if you want to have tables, which are NOT displayed, when you selected All Tables see below. (This is a great way to list only your test tables, and not have them in your main list of tables) I have the following databases configured: Visual Pinball ---Visual Pinball.xml ---VP Only Future Pinball ---Future Pinball.xml ---FP Only.xml Future Pinball - BAM <-----I did not want this when selecting All Tables --Future Pinball - BAM.xml --FP – BAM.xml Pinball FX2 ---Pinball FX2.xml ---Zen Only.xml So by default PBX creates a database that matches the new system....if you populate that DB those tables will show up on the All Tables list, if you delete it....none of the custom databases for that system will show up. So my Future Pinball - BAM.xml contains: <menu> </menu> and my FP – BAM.xml contains: <menu> <game name="A Nightmare On Elm Street 1.05 ZED"> <description>A Nightmare On Elm Street 1.05 ZED</description> <manufacturer></manufacturer> <year></year> <type></type> <hidedmd>True</hidedmd> <hidebackglass>True</hidebackglass> <enabled>True</enabled> <rating>-1</rating> </game> <game name="Aladdin's Castle ULTIMATE 1.01 (Bally 1976) PHY2.6"> <description>Aladdin's Castle (Bally 1976)</description> <manufacturer>Bally</manufacturer> <year>1976</year> <type>EM</type> <hidedmd>True</hidedmd> <hidebackglass>True</hidebackglass> <enabled>True</enabled> <rating>-1</rating> </game> <game name="Back to the Future 1.02 Ultra (Data East 1990) ZED"> <description>Back to the Future (Data East 1990)</description> <manufacturer>Data East</manufacturer> <year>1990</year> <type>SS</type> <hidedmd>True</hidedmd> <hidebackglass>True</hidebackglass> <enabled>True</enabled> <rating>0</rating> </game> etc etc etc </menu> Now these tables don't show when I start PBX up (under All Tables), and only come up when I select the FP - BAM tables custom selection item.

tableking, Check out the first pinned topic in this forum "Calling all PinballX gurus....." and download the last document I uploaded. I think I beat the snot out of this topic in the PinballX guide section 4.8. Currently the default groups 70's, 80's, Bally, Stern, Williams can not be edited. I forgot to add one item so I'll update section 4.8 in the next hour, which you may like for your BAM games. Z

I'm at a loss, I can only think of two other things to check: 1) Under the properties on the shortcut make sure the run is set to normal and under the actual pinballx.exe properties set it to run as admin. (I think PBX disregards the shortcut setting and opens full screen/maximized no matter what) 2) Are you running any programs like ultramon (or similar)? It almost sounds like you see it minimized, on monitor #1 but it's actually running full screen in win 7 on "another screen". Once it starts minimized and is in the toolbar, what happens if you RIGHT click and select it, does it open full screen? (***This was my initial theory) So many variables.......when you say "problem happens first time i run.....", if you close and start it again, does it open maximized? Possible something is still booting/loading in win7 that is causing it to minimize. Z Update: Just for kicks, also try selecting a NON-aero windows theme (so one of the basic themes) in win7 if you didn't do this already. (Should be disabled anyway because VP doesn't like windows 7 Aero). Also right click the taskbar --> properties --> taskbar ....uncheck - Use aero peek to preview the desktop.

I don't see any problems in your log file, I loaded the same table and attached my log below. You said the program minimizes after initial startup, are you using the start with windows option or clicking on the PinballX icon on your desktop? I would post your pinballx.ini also to see if we see anything in there. 09:15:45.3 12/9/2013: PinballX - Version 1.7009:15:45.3 12/9/2013: Loading Settings09:15:45.3 12/9/2013: Launching Startup Program: ledset.bat09:15:45.3 12/9/2013: D:\PinballX\Scripts\ledset.bat 09:15:45.4 12/9/2013: Initialize Component09:15:45.4 12/9/2013: Initialize Display09:15:45.5 12/9/2013: Loading PlugIns09:15:45.7 12/9/2013: Created DirectX BackGlass Window09:15:45.8 12/9/2013: Hiding Cursor09:15:45.8 12/9/2013: Hiding Taskbar09:15:45.8 12/9/2013: Loading Font09:15:45.8 12/9/2013: Load Game List09:15:45.8 12/9/2013: Loading Database: Future Pinball09:15:45.8 12/9/2013: Loading Database: Visual Pinball09:15:45.9 12/9/2013: Loading Database: Pinball FX209:15:45.9 12/9/2013: Loading Database: Future Pinball-BAM09:15:45.9 12/9/2013: Loading Database: Pinball Arcade09:15:45.9 12/9/2013: Loading Custom Database: FP Favorite09:15:45.9 12/9/2013: Loading Custom Database: FP Only09:15:45.9 12/9/2013: Loading Custom Database: VP Favorite09:15:45.9 12/9/2013: Loading Custom Database: VP Only09:15:45.9 12/9/2013: Loading Custom Database: Zen09:15:45.9 12/9/2013: Loading Custom Database: FP - BAM09:15:45.9 12/9/2013: Finding and matching artwork and videos09:15:46.1 12/9/2013: Loading Game Statistics and Scores09:15:47.2 12/9/2013: Initialize Audio09:15:47.2 12/9/2013: Set Keyboard Controls09:15:47.2 12/9/2013: Initialize Joystick09:15:47.3 12/9/2013: 1 Joystick Attached09:15:47.3 12/9/2013: Started09:16:04.9 12/9/2013: Launch System09:16:04.9 12/9/2013: Waiting for threads09:16:04.9 12/9/2013: Disposing display09:16:06.3 12/9/2013: D:\VPinball\VPinball.exe /play -"D:\VPinball\Tables\The Champion Pub (Midway 1998).vpt"09:16:06.3 12/9/2013: D:\PinballX\vpauto.exe 09:16:11.8 12/9/2013: Found PinMAME ROM: cp_16.nv09:16:29.8 12/9/2013: Created DirectX BackGlass Window09:16:31.8 12/9/2013: Exit System Control Pressed09:16:34.6 12/9/2013: D:\PinballX\Scripts\ledset.bat 09:16:34.7 12/9/2013: Created DirectX BackGlass Window09:16:37.6 12/9/2013: Exiting09:16:37.7 12/9/2013: Showing Taskbar09:16:37.7 12/9/2013: Unhiding Mouse Cursor09:16:37.8 12/9/2013: Launching Exit Program: ledoff.bat09:16:37.8 12/9/2013: D:\PinballX\Scripts\ledoff.bat 09:16:37.8 12/9/2013: Disposing Plugins09:16:37.8 12/9/2013: Saving Settings

I also have the 'B' mapped to add/remove ball, so I get the add/remove ball dialog box, but I also get the screenshot when I exit and look in the dir. Z

punter1, Works fine for me. What do you have the PF and BG keys defined as in your Pinballx.ini? I'm using B for backglass and S for playfield. Files are saved in: X:\PinballX\Media\Visual Pinball\Screen Grabs Backglass X:\PinballX\Media\Visual Pinball\Screen Grabs Z

Tom, Finally had a chance to try the second .exe you posted and so far it looks good. To answer your questions above: Consistent - I'd say I see it 70% of the time. The screenshot is just when exiting a table (That is the only time I see it) I was using 9.2 r740 for about and hour, then downloaded 9.2 r756 and used that and so far, so good. Z
