  1. I think whats being asked is how to change the text actually in Windows media center 2005. This is actually documented how to do this on the GameEx docs/Faq page. http://tomspeirs.com/gameEx/docs.htm Q: How do I change "My Games" shown in Windows Media Center to something else. A: Change this key in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SOFTWARE / WINDOWS / CURRENTVERSION / MEDIA CENTER / EXTENSIBILITY / CATEGORIES / START MENU / {3de6904a-d9c7-4ef9-b77d-c1216b39161a} > "TITLE". e.g. Run Regedit.exe navigate to the above, double click on TITLE and type what you want it to be called.
  2. Here you go (for free): http://tomspeirs.com/arcade_game_ringtone.zip
  3. Thanks a lot for the encouragment guys. Its been a hell of a lot of work to get Vista working well. Your comments make it all worthwhile. Ill get the release back up shortly. I rolled back to the earlier version until I just fix a few things for folks who arnt running Vista
  4. Sorry folks. guess I released this too soon. Ive put 7.71 back up.
  5. 11th March, 2007 - GameEx 7.72 Full video and DVD support in Vista Volume control working in Vista Windowed mode in Vista Aero is enhanced and no longer shuts down Aero Cosmetic enhancments to the user interface when showing game info header, it fades. Title toolbar auto scrolls out and hides with V1 themes when mouse not active, when set to always show Fixes list issues after selecting play random videos Fixes issue with not able to disable screensaver in some cases Create snap on thread feature has been removed New theme included "Media Center" and is the default When playing a video or DVD windows screensaver is disabled Full support for HTML apps in Vista More responsive when playing videos or dvd's The MAME list update is much more system friendly, and will allow you to do other things on your PC while its running, and no black screen when in full screen and alt tabbing out New setting to make the menu text same size as the game text. NOTE: This is on by default so will affect all themes. To turn off in theme.ini use MenuTextSameSize=False. New theme.ini setting GradientTitleFont=True. And LowerCaseTitleFont. Look at the new Media Center theme for example
  6. Setting Flat menus to on will put the weather on the start page, but it will put everything there.
  7. Try launching run last game from the gamex progam group on the windows start menu. See if it works. If it doesnt you have the emulator set up wrong somehow. What is the name of the application that is the black screen in task manager. Are you sure you have showdesktop on for that emulator? Please post you log.
  8. Its in the FAQ. You need to use the showdesktop setting or make the emu run full screen.
  9. Select advanced mode in the setup wizard go to advanced mame settings. Its the in game control panel vk setting. Its sets to L as default which conflicts with your controls. Just change it to something else.
  10. Please post your log, also please check you have not got the create snaps on thread option turned on under Tweaks/Performance. i think that feature is broken.
  11. No problem, I was just about to reply and say that was likely what it was
  12. Did you update the list?
  13. Hi, just to let you know, somehow a corrupt themeditor.exe got into the gameex install, however this should be ok in the latest versions of GameEx.
  14. I would expect them to run fine if you do the above, but dont know for sure without testing.
  15. Look for a file in your mame folder called mame.ini, rename it to mamebak.ini. Turn on ArcadeVGA in GameEx.
  16. It sounds like its more stable than it was, so thats something.
  17. It might just have been a buggy release, but as I said I know FFDShOW "tryouts" don't work. Its a shame because that has ssome really good audio and video scaling features. Although you'd be pressed to make use of them. There certainly wont be any new benefits in regards to just playing videos and game previews.
  18. You can try this GameEx.exe which waits a bit longer before forcibly closing the emulator. Other than this I have nothing. GameEx.zip
  19. That's a shame, there's really nothing else I can do that I can see. Everything is as solid as it can be. It could just be some kind of conflict with a particular emulator? If so try a newer or different version etc. I have nothing else to add to this as of now, but let me know if you discover anything.
  20. Try the version of FFDSHOW here: http://tomspeirs.com/gameEx/Extras.htm
  21. PS: What does CTD mean?
  22. The font issue might actually be fixed in the latest version, In regard to FFDSHOW, I had this same issue when I installed FFDSHOW "Tryouts" which is some kind of newer build. The daily builds at ffdshow.sf.net is probably your best bet. I think HK is also hosting a copy as the links were down.
  23. Hi, can you post your full log please. Also what video card and drivers are you using? Are they the latest?
  24. Yes, I found out today, volume control is not currently working on vista.
  25. 7.71 should fix it. Although theres nothing I can do about it chaning back to the desktop resolution.
