  1. This is something I started in 2020. I have not made much progress until recently but now have the Windows x64 version nearly completed. It originally started as a separate project but now it uses the same code base. Please consider an alpha version at this point just for feedback and testing. If you are new here please use the other GameEx installs. The benefits of the multiplatform version: - Few or no external dependencies. Just Unity/Mono. - Eventually versions for other platforms such as Linux and Android. - Setup will be web based leveraging GameEx online, Downsides: - There is video support but no MKV support just yet. - Will be missing some features but both Arcade and regular GameEx will be supported. Instructions: Windows: Extract to a location with write access. Then run one of three executables. Download here View the full article

This is something I started in 2020. I had not made much progress until recently but now have it not far off completion. It originally started as a separate project but now it uses the same code base. Please consider an alpha version at this point just for feedback and testing. If you are new here please use the other GameEx installs. There are currently alpha versions of Linux, Mac and Android to download. Also Windows if you just wanted to quickly look. The benefits of the multiplatform version: - Few or no external dependencies. Portable install. - Everything uses the same code base. All versions get updates. - Supports all major platforms. Including Linux, Android and Mac. Downsides: - There is video support but no MKV support just yet. Thanks to VLC libraries this is resolved, but not available on Linux. - Will be missing some features but both Arcade and regular GameEx are supported and it is almost functionally comparable even on Android. Instructions: First Launch: It will take several seconds the first time you start the app while media assets are copied and fonts are downloaded. Android: Install and open Downloader (by AFTVnews) from the Play store. Enter 246452 for GameEx or 629105 for GameEx Arcade Edition. The APK file will download direct from here. The first time will issue a security warning. Follow the prompts to allow unknown apps then repeat the download. If you receive a privacy warning, select install anyway. I have spent months optimizing it but it is almost functionality the same as regular GameEx, plays multiple videos simultaneously and runs at 60 fps by default so it requires a modern Android device Linux: Extract and open a terminal window in that folder. chmod +x GameEx.x86_64 ./GameEx.x86_64 Mac: Download file. In Finder right click the application and select New Terminal at Folder Copy and Paste all this into Terminal and press enter. cd .. chmod -R +x Mac_GameEx_ArcadeEdition.app/Contents/MacOS chmod -R +x Mac_GameEx.app/Contents/MacOS xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine Mac_GameEx_ArcadeEdition.app xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine Mac_GameEx.app Then launch the application.
  3. Laser goodness. Nice. Thanks for the post.
  4. Given that I have been working hard on the below which uses the same video/audio/input libraries as PinballX I wanted to ask if there is any interest in cross platform Pinballx? I also see there is this: https://github.com/vpinball/vpinball/blob/standalone/standalone/README.md Anyone tried it? PS: It does run super silky its just the capture,
  5. I do see an exception. its probably a bug.
  6. So the not found folder is being deleted every time you start gameex. is that right? im confused, because you just said above it was being created? Oh wait, i see there is an exception. thats why. ill look into it.
  7. it should be noted that the folder is deleted on a schedule to allow for a new artwork scan in case new (additional) artwork has become available. its on a schedule not everytime though. or should be. it could be highlighting another issue that artwork is not downloading. id need to see "all" (artwork download and check the date) logs to look into it further.
  8. Again, look into groovymame and emucrt drivers. Almost any AMD/ATi card will be more powerful than the ArcadeVGA although you will need to get one a few years old. You will need to research it. It should be way better. (dont worry about the registration. i went free over a year ago),
  9. Someonthing to note Arcade#VGA MAME support is not available inthe 64 bit version of GamEex or the 32 bit version as of the last release. That is just MAME support though. If you have an arcade monitor you should look into groovymame and a used amd card. Not a huge cost. ArcadeVGA is old news, sorry.
  10. After more testing fully ensuring the Wi-Fi is the bottleneck maximum speed is still 3 GB. i was hoping for a little more but its as max you can also get with a USB 5gb adapter. Maybe ill get more when the Wi-Fi 7 MLO updates come out. Ill report back.
  11. I got the Intel BE200 installed. Getting 3gb. 2024-01-17 16-34-21.mp4
  12. Got the RT-BE96U going as an access point. This is what i am getting with my existing wifi 6 ax in the laptop (5ghz). 2024-01-17 01-49-08.mp4
  13. Just came across this in my YouTube feed. Sets a new benchmark my opinion. I think Ill stick to the real thing but take a look:

  14. Just see this http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,168163.0.html?PHPSESSID=0s4so2k6pdb2ja810vdtikeeog I am guessing there is a little latency but looks interesting,
  15. Here is how to get the windows 10 theme back in windows 11 1. Install Theme Patcher: https://mhoefs.eu/software_uxtheme.php?ref=syssel&lang=en 2. Reboot 3. Get the windows 10 Aero theme from a Windows 10 Install. Located in C:\Windows\Resources. if you upgraded to 11 you can find this in C:\Windows.old\Resource Update 2024-05-26: So what i really wanted to do was just change the taskbar colour to black rather than restore windows 10 theme. So do this instead: https://www.howtogeek.com/799594/how-to-change-the-taskbar-color-in-windows-11/#:~:text=Personalizing Windows 11 by adding, and choosing an accent color.
  16. Update 2024-01-14 Open Shell now seems to work perfectly on windows 11 and can replace the start button. I am therefore no longer recommending Start 11. I can see no mention of this for Open Shell (previously Classic Shell) anywhere but can confirm it now works perfectly with Windows 11. PS: Other than that my only other tweak was to restore the full context menu: https://pureinfotech.com/bring-back-classic-context-menu-windows-11/
  17. Early adoption at play. Hoping to get 5gb per sec from laptop to nas. Also ordered reading glasses for laptop install!! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BZFK3BF8?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CNCCSB5T?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08ZD81HDR?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details https://www.amazon.com/dp/B085FZZ82Q?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details I was hoping to get the Asus BE98 and it was briefly available Amazon directly and I ordered it. It was Amazon direct but not for delivery until March. i cancelled and went with the be96. Spec looks very similar other than second 5ghz band which with Intel wifi 7 cards for laptop and PC now available I didn't need. With the intel wifi 7 cards now easily available I hit the trigger. All due to arrive today (Sunday). No Merlin firmware yet but its just going to be an access point. Unfortunately means I also have to upgrade to Windows 11 from 10. No 6ghz support from Intel on 10.
  18. When the machine is booting up keep pressing the u key on the keyboard. Assuming you left most of the default options in instant sheller that will allow you to undo and reboot.
  19. Its fixed in 6.04. it was an error in the installer. You will have to manually remove flash.ocx from the PinballX install folder. That takes a little work,
  20. Not getting the error here. Fresh install of PinballX but not Windows. I'm betting its a missing VC runtime that I already have installed on this machine. I've done various tidy ups of the installer in recent times. Pretty sure that is the culprit. 09:18:19.70 19/12/2023: PinballX Core - Version 6.03 x64 09:18:19.71 19/12/2023: Microsoft Windows 10 Enterprise 64-bit (32GB) 09:18:19.71 19/12/2023: Loading Settings 09:18:19.71 19/12/2023: Initialize Component 09:18:19.74 19/12/2023: Initialize Display 09:18:19.76 19/12/2023: Testing Flash engine. 09:18:19.83 19/12/2023: Loading PlugIns 09:18:19.86 19/12/2023: Looking for startup images
  21. Ill take a look soon. Last time I looked it was good on 64 bit but not 32 bit because of the Microsoft changes. Unless I messed something up and i can't recall making any changes but if its a new setup it could be an older missing MS visual C++ runtime. Cheers. Tom.
  22. Thank you buddy. Doubt for Christmas though, sorry!
  23. Did you try a reboot? Device change indicates something being plugged in.
