I think this may be because of the "startup sound". it might be trying to play at the same time. you can try removing it.

Hi, we would all love to help but this is a bit beyond our abilities unfortunately. This is a MAME problem not GameEx. i do understand a lot about MAME but can't think of any setting or configuration that could help you myself. Sorry. Good luck. All i can think of is some of the upscaling features in MAME to help your screen reader but again not really my area of expertise. As for the roms themsevles, ive never messed with ddr games. i don't even know if they work. Had anyone here played those games?

GameEx checks for closure of Steam launch via the steam overlay. is this turned off in steam? is it a certain title causing the issue? edit: sorry, i see you checked that. I will test shortly. although running latest of everything here.

there are auto position and auto configure settings in the setup wizard. in the odd instance these need to be turned off.

There is and would have been a separate favourites menu item. is it disabled from showing up? Pretty sure there is an option to disable it. Other than that your probably SOL.

I assume you read the above about event viewer but this is very relevant as GameEx exited in an unhandled way.

Can you give more detail on what you did? It looks like GameEx was running for three hours not 30 mins, attract mode ran 3-4 times and one time you pressed 5 to play a game. On the last attract mode, it looks like mame exited and thats the end of the log. normally GameEx would initialize the display here. Please try running GameEx full screen windowed. Set under display settings. It was only released a couple of days later, so not your fault but please also install the latest version of GameEx.

That is an odd one. i cant see anything really wrong in your log. To help troubleshoot can you please disable the plugins? Thanks, Tom.

Which MAME are you using? i would suggest a mame list update. Definitely for the 1st issue.

Very strange buddy. Both are the same and show gameex crashing and not starting.

key stroke 5 is supposed to 'stop' it coming out. i will check. sounds like you found a bug. sorry, but pretty sure that is not the correct file. it should be log.txt in the log folder.
