Download MameUI source from here extract somewhere then copy the winui folder to C:\MinGW\source\MameUI0143u3\src\osd\winui and copy the winui.mak to C:\MinGW\source\MameUI0143u3 so do i need to do this step? or just checkmark "MAME UI" in the compiler? please help me or confirm that you can build a 64bit MAME UI. thanks in advance

dont know what went wrong in the first run, but it compiled succesfully the second time.... yippiie it was an interesting progress, as i saw many other emus in the compiling. seems that the dream of the MAME and MESS fusion come true.

that was exactly for what i am looking for, thank you Draco as my cab is coming this week, i want to prepare everything i can. pictures will be posted for grant . my girlfriend did buy me a 2-year licence for GameEx and i am happy that i can build my theme in a much better speed. to understand the full potential of GameEx, i will need time.... but i am counting on this great community, who always helped me. at least i hope i could help with the hint of the new tools of MAMEdev
-
maybe i am wrong, but i think there is a newer version of the compiler tools out now: http://mamedev.org/tools/ is it safe to use the MAME-compiler-64 with the latest MAME source and diffs? or do i need to wait now, until the new tools are implemented into MAME-compiler-64? what does the last two checkmarks in MAME-compiler-64 mean (clean compile & disable warnings error) ?? questions over questions.... and thankfull for answers

nice to hear such good news from you. now the conspiracy-theories are history . glad you are not a "missing in action" ELITE-member . welcome back Chazz

where your "mame.ini" file is, depends what MAME you have installed. the original MAME, has its "mame.ini" in the installation folder of MAME. the MAME UI version have its "mame.ini" in the ini-folder of the installation folder of MAME UI. its not possible, that you dont have a "mame.ini" file (its a tiny file, approx. 7kb big). you can open this file with a text-editor and check the if the lines mentioned are inside, if not add them and save the "mame.ini" file. or just post your "mame.ini" content here.
-
hello, may be you need to look at your "mame.ini" file (look for it, in your MAME installation folder) for the following lines: # # CORE ARTWORK OPTIONS # artwork_crop 1 use_backdrops 1 use_overlays 1 use_bezels 1 use_cpanels 1 use_marquees 1 if you dont have it, you will need to add them. this way you enable artwork to show up in MAME, because you need to enable artwork in MAME too (not only in GameEx).

yup, its the EMS top gun 3

1: first) he asked for wireless, i gave him the best solution for this. 2: second) buy rechargeable batteries 3: third) you got a more real life situation with the batteries in the gun, it got heavier. after 1 hour, you will need 2 hands for aim. 4: fourth) if your worried about juice, buy two guns. it wont happen so often that both guns are empty 5: fifth) its not wired to your cab, you can go into your living room and shoot some badass on you big HD screen and the last, the gun looks far better than the wired ugly stuff, i even would not call this guns.

dude thats normal.... even if you have 19.368 roms. i can imagine where you got your set and your collection is so complete, that you even have the roms for games wich are not working and this is no joke. if you disable the clones, you will have approx 3500 games... this is absolutely normal. as far as MAME development progress, you will have the roms at your fingertips, if you watch the place where you get your roms carefully in the future, you will only need to download the update-packages to be up-to-date. so dude, you dont miss a thing and GameEx works normal. you dont believe??? than check this out: http://mamedev.org/mame_chart_0128.png for the remaining approx. 400 games you will need to have the CHDs too, its not only roms where MAME games belong to .

http://www.ebay.de/itm/200805597153?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 you wont get any cheaper one, with price vs. quality in mind. its wireless, accurate, has really nice features and the best... its compatible with everything and works on arcade-tvs, CRTs, TFTs. dont missunderstand me, but americans tend to SUPERSIZEME, this gun is more than good enough . i have two of them no probs at all.

yes, it will keep your settings.

Cheers Chazz....

if Aero is not running, i would say its a direct X driver thing. maybe you have a outdated direct x installed.

GameEx is as far as i know, not portable. you can NOT copy GameEx from one location to another and expect that it will work. on your new pc, i would get rid off of all the Game-Ex installations you have and start with a new, clean and fresh GameEx. after this, start "SetupWizard.exe" (its inside the GameEx folder) and configure your GameEx to your likes. in your first post it seems that nothing was configured and in your second post, you screw up GameEx, by copy or over-install or mixed up different versions of GameEx. f.e. your rom path is not defined, etc.

maybe your catver.ini, history.dat and mameinfo.dat are corrupted and the gamelist from GameEx depends on these files (especially on creation of the gamelist), if you use them. you can obtain the files here: catver.ini files here: http://www.progettoemma.net/ mameinfo.dat here: http://mameinfo.mameworld.info/ history.dat here: http://www.arcade-hi...p?page=download download the stuff you want, and set the path in your game-ex setup to where you put these files. but i recommend to put it in the DATA folder of your game-ex install.
-
sorry to hear that you still have the problem. maybe its a "admin rights" thing. it sounds like Game-Ex cannot access the list and try to make a new one each time when its needed. check if Game-Ex have "write access" for the location where it is installed. also Game-Ex is as far as i know, not a portable-app. you can not just copy a once installed GameEx to another place and expect that you will have no trouble. i recommend to do a fresh install of GameEx with admin rights (right click on installer....run as admin) and see if your problem still persists. this is just a suggestion or hint, but if time is no problem, then wait for Tom, like Draco said.

i would like to contribute to this database-project, but i dont understand what the real problem is. there is a thread as far as i understand this, there is a problem with the editor for the databases, but i can be wrong. it would be nice, if someone with "knowledge" could explain how other users could help to make this dream come true i really would like to help.
-
i would give the "gamelist.txt" a try. delete this file and do a update list

i would also like to help. i have no plan about SQLite, but no pain no gain . if some task requires diligence in order to complete it, i am willing to do it. -
i didnt even know that you could play sid files through game-ex.... so i can choose a sid file as a intro sound or as a sound for any emulator? OMFG that would be great . and YES, a big thanks to Tom.

Feature & Enhancement Requests

the best would be .swf or flash movies. if i imagine what you could do with flash on a foreground layer or in general.... i get a boner -
it took me a while, to find out that headkaze in fact is a alias for Ben. i wished i would know it earlier. i am very excited about this news and looking forward regarding this. if you need any help, suggestions or anything else helpfull, then i would like to contribute. how about a nice chat-session, where we could talk about the theme-editor? now that would be very cool. i want to make a tutorial for the current theme-editor and have some unanswered questions regarding this. questions where i think, you are the only one who can answer them. now in the end, i am asking myself if this is really necessary, if something NEW is around . OMG i am so excited, cant wait to see this. anyway best wishes.... u-man
