Have you tried downloading this via the repository manager as a temporary workaround? Aside from that, it sounds like a possible permissions issue that @Tom Speirs will need to look at for you.

It's really aimed at robotics, etc., or things requiring a much smaller form factor. I prefer my B+ model to it as well and yes it's nice to see the next gen isn't long off.

Factory reset should have nuked everything.

I take it from your post that you've updated to a recent release of MAME and in the process lost 1000 some odd titles. That being the case, did you also update your set also? A MAME release with an unmatched set release will create issues such as this since the changes, no matter how subtle, have a direct effect on the game titles themselves. That's the only other thing that comes to mind currently.

My guess is that you have titles being kicked that likely work well enough to play due to the below settings. I would recommend you try setting these to false (independently, together or a mix) and launch GameEx and update to see how many titles show up. OnlyWorking=True VerifyRoms=True

Have you tried adding the registry key the traditional method? There isn't a different key, mine has upgraded along with me for some time now, Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and now 10.

Since we don't have the support files Draco asked for there is no way to be sure of this, but it sounds as if you're most likely using integrated MAME based on what you've tried. Since there are only 4 titles being filtered out I would just add those 4 to the "Don't filter these" list. Launch GameEx, update and see if your problem is resolved.
