That's why for this release I first emptied the GameEx directory, then installed this new version and finally added and overwrote every customized file (ini, cfg, images...).

V13.15 is a memorable release!!! Thank you soooo much, Tom, Adultery and Flash!!!!

I like this theme a lot, dark, clean and cool!!!

Very nice logos!!!

You must launch a game at least once through Steam. Then launch GameEx and it will detect your game. Or at least this is the behavior it had with me...

Yes... set the value to True. And this: EnableSlikStik=False Setup Wizard says this is and option to enable for those who use SlikStik and IPAC, too... Have you had a tour in the Input Settings section of the Setup Wizard? Open Setup Wizard, Select Custom and then Input Settings. Check all those options and set them accordingly to your system. If you click on the question mark, it gives you detailed information about each option. That the global exit combo exits gameex too is not normal... it's not intended to be "global" until that extent...
-
Just to clarify... when you lanuch a game, the inplut passes to the emulator itself... so when you asked how to reset GameEx input keys... maybe we were following the worng path. You should concentrate in configuring MAME itself. About closing a game... this is a matter of GamEx configuration instead. Tempest said it all. Global exit allows you to configure a keyboard or joypad key combo to close ALL emulators. Have you already tried it? _________________________ I see these entries in GameEx.ini that can be relevant to your problem: KeyboardDirectInput=False EnableCustomInput=False EnableAdvCustomInput=False I may be wrong because I don't remember, but some of the advanced input features are for the registered version only... or not? I don't remember, it's just a doubt that comes to my mind now. Do you use a registered or unregistered version?

Thanks for the info null! Goin' to download and update ePSXe! ePSXe is my emulator of choice. I've set up Xebra and pSX too, so I have all of three "at my disposal". Although I appreciate Xebra and pSX for accuracy and fidelity of emulation, I can't renounce at the "pimped" graphic enhancements epsxe's plugins offer.

Please note that I do know nothing about the ipc stuff but - if you want to experiment and revert the input keys to their default values, please do the following: 1 - Locate and open GameEx\CONFIG folder 2 - Move custominput.ini somewhere outside the GameEx directory. This file stores your current input key configuration. I'm suggesting to move it instead of delete it because, if things will not be as desired, you can always revert the config. 3 - Make a copy of custominput.default.ini and rename it custominput.ini. This file stores the default settings for input keys. Now you should have the default input keys.

Hello Myghalloween!!! 1. The game description (pop-up or game's menu are the same... the pop-up is just for preview purposes) are entered in the database that corresponds to the system you are emulating. Databases are located in GameEx\DATA\Emulators. The most recent format GameEx uses to read databases is SQLite (*.db3 files), so you'll need an appropriate editor to change the fields you want. I can suggest SQLite Database Browser (http://sqlitebrowser.sourceforge.net/) as it is a simple program to use. But if you refer to MAME, I see my database is in Microsoft Access format (MDB), so I'm not sure if I have to update my game list or if it is an exception... 2. You can edit size and position of the pop-up window with the Theme Editor. No idea at all about duration, though.

If I understood it correctly, maybe Gimme means something like when you shot a photo with a photocamera, some sort of print-overlay. Something impossible in MAME, right? I feel like an anti-cheat system is in the air...

My guess is that, once GameEx lanuches an external player, all command line parameters are "on charge" of that external player. Another idea is to convert your dvd to ISO and use this image file with deamon tools that is fully supported by GameEx (but i don't use daemon tools, so I can't be of any help in this matter).

I don't think you can separate play & pause buttons in GameEx because it is programmed that way. However, you could post a feature request in the appropriate thread: http://www.gameex.info/forums/topic/10189-feature-enhancement-requests/. I found this thread http://www.avsforum.com/t/390263/powerdvd-command-line-options which explains how to pass the drive letter to PowerDVD and autoplay the DVD. In PowerDVD video settings there is and option to launch the program in fullscreen, too. Please give it a try and report back, I'm curious... Cheers xentaur, and welcome to the forums!

Congratulations for your promotion and for the Hi-score competition!!!

IIRC (cannot check now) in DVD options in Setup Wizard there is an option to set an external player. You could give it a try.

Magic Engine for me too... perfect in emulating that system.

I quote myself: "They are located in the same folder as the mp3s. They are called AlbumArt.jpg and AlbumArtSmall.jpg. Media Player creates these files in every music folder it scans during the music library importing process. These files have "system" as attribute, so in XP you have to enable it to show hidden and system files". I forgot to add that a Folder.jpg is added as well. This is the file that (correctly) gameex was displaying. There was a Folder.jpg in that folder, and you couldn't show it because you anabled XP only to show hidden files. For hidden & system files exists another option in the same menu. When you create your library in WMP, Media Player creates those files extracting them from tags, and set the as system and hidden. Glad you have this sorted out!!!

They are located in the same folder as the mp3s. They are called AlbumArt.jpg and AlbumArtSmall.jpg. Media Player creates these files in every music folder it scans during the music library importing process. These files have "system" as attribute, so in XP you have to enable it to show hidden and system files. And... I'm just guessing about this but... why not try to convert the .png to .jpg? Maybe GE will give priority to jpg... wherever the wrong image is located. Which image Win media player displays in the library? Thre wrong or the right one? Ore none of them, since you cleaned it? And... there are two versions of mp3 tag. v1 and v2. Most tagging programs create tags for both versions... and some others display only v2 tags. Maybe a v1 image is still present in the mp3 file? Try another tagging utility. Just keep investigating.. I'm convinced we'll find the reason of your issue... Another thing... since you are using Windows Media Player as source, try to recreate your library in WMP. Keep in mind that recreating your library will overwrite every Folder.jpg found in folders according to the image found in tag. If you use a custom Folder.png, these files will not be overwritten.

Open Setup Wizard. Select Custom --> External Applications. The first option is a drop-down menu that assign a number to every application (that in this case are games). Fill in the fields and see if the game launches. I didn't see the video, so I can't say for sure, but if it looks "cool" probably the games have been set up as emulators and grouped together, so that a lot of artwork and options are displayed. But forget this for the moment. If you are searching for the option to add external application, I told you where to find it. And please note: if you have problems configuring your games and/or launching them, next please attach GameEx.ini (located in GameEx\CONFIG folder) and Log.txt (located in GameEx\LOG folder). Add runit.bat too (in GameEx\DATA). This way we can trobleshoot issue a lot more quickly and effectively. A very useful thread that details these steps can be found here: http://www.gameex.info/forums/topic/6451-guide-how-to-ask-for-help/

MAME is a command line emulator. Add -nowindow when launching a game. The simplest example of an effective command line option is: -nowindow -joy -skip_gameinfo, for example: MAME.exe kof.zip -nowindow -joy -skip_gameinfo. Check if "-nowindow -joy -skip_gameinfo" options are set in MAME settings in Setup Wizard. Beside that, attach your log (GameEx\LOG\log.txt) and your configuration file (GameEx\CONFIG\GameEx.ini), so that we can have a closer eye about your issue.

Another great release!!! Thank you Tom and Aultery!!!

@Repetto: hmmm... I have no further ideas... except... and if you tried to convert Folder.png to jpg? And are you sure you "eradicated" any presence of the "wrong" image from the folder in question, including hidden files (Media player creates some hidden files), image tag, and even Thumbs.db (the latter shouldn't affect anything in gameex, though)... ______________________________ Hello Adultery and Draco!!! Very nice to read you again!!! I just lose some interest in emulation and gaming and temporarily stayed away from the matter, but I never forgot about you!!! See you here, amongst the other nice guys!!!

Hello! Album covers are cached in GameEx\MEDIA\ALBUMS folder. You should empty this folder. As a second step, you should open the Setup Wizard, go to Audio Settings, and set "Download album, dvd, video artowork" to NO. Otherwise GE will redownload covers from an online source overwriting your personal artwork. Probably (but I'm not sure) in the same menu you have to set GE to use Media Player library. This is the way I made GameEx to read my personal Folder.jpg. Hope this helps, Alpha. P.S.: Out of topic, but I want to say hello to all of you guys!!!

Backup your whole GameEx folder, so that you can easly restore your previous installation in case something goes wrong. The amount of RAM you use is barely enough, in my opinion. Considering how cheap RAM is these days, you can think of upgrading your system with 2 GB....

Obviously it all depends on your system specs. I found XBMC not low-demanding on resources, so I decided to switch to MediaPortal. Emulators... again, it depends on which emulator and, mainly, on which system it emulates...
