  1. Oh, Steam! You're right null!!! And I would add the steamdata.ini file (the main file for steam in gameex), that is in DATA folder. If you added a lot of non-steam games with custom descriptions, artwork, trailers, etc like me, this is definitely a file to backup. The steamdata.ini follows this scheme: [AppID_XXXXX] (where XXXXX is, indeed, the Steam ID for a particular game] installdir= gamename= exe= description= genre= year= developer= If you add custom trailers, screenshots, etc in the corresponding folders in MEDIA\STEAM, assigning them the same name as the AppID, you can populate the Steam menu in GameEx with a complete set of information & artwork even with non-steam games. EDIT: when I speak about an AppID for non-steam games, I mean that when you add a non-steam game in steam, a random ID is generated and saved in shortcuts.vdf in steam folder. GameEx will catch that game, provided that you launch it at least once.
  2. Since the screensaver is not supposed to be used to actively play games, I don't know if I could consider this behaviour a bug or not. Anyway, you can submit a feature request in this thread: http://www.gameex.info/forums/topic/10189-feature-enhancement-requests/.
  3. Happy B-Day!!!
  4. Yes, there are, at least another one. I forgot DATA\DATA.db3. It contains all your favourite games and informations about other multimedia files.
  5. Hello stryker, my compliments for your excellent guide! In part 4, I would suggest to add how backup your GameEx configuration, which mainly includes a copy of: - CONFIG\GameEx.ini - CONFIG\custominput.ini - CONFIG\CustomMenu.ini plus any other customized files. Of course you can copy the entire GameEx folder, but copying only the crucial files is more convenient!
  6. Great update! Thank you Tom and Flash!
  7. First of all, you should tell us which emulator do you use (Project64, 1964?). Then, post your log and your gameex.ini as described in this thread: http://www.gameex.info/forums/topic/6451-guide-how-to-ask-for-help/, so that we can have a closer look at your issue and narrow down what causes it. Ah, post runitgame.bat too.
  8. Very cool stigzler, I like it a lot!!!
  9. Hello snarls, and welcome back! 1) I usually open GameEx.ini and search for "Version=" (without quotes). 2) If you check the GameEx homepage, Themes section, you'll find the latest entries. Beside that, Tom and Headkaze are working on a complete rewrite of the GameEx's graphic engine, but no ETA at the moment. 3) Simply put, I dunno!
  10. Happy Birthday Krak!
  11. @coinhaven: Probably you tried some hacked directX versions that are around on the net, they are not recommended as can be cause of instability for your system. DirectX 10 and 11 have not been designed to run on WinXP. Official versions won't even install on XP in the first place. Beside that, I would suggest to: uninstall directx - whichever version you have, install direct x 9, and concentrate your effort on drivers and codecs installed. P.S.: Personally, I have Windows XP SP3, DirectX 9.0c and GameEx works flawlessly...
  12. Just to say that you can't have Windows XP sp3 and directX 11 because directX 9.0c is the latest version available for that operating system. So you got confused or about your operating system or about your DX version.
  13. Ahahaah!!! I thought the same!!!
  14. Ooooopsss....

    MEEEOW!

Typical Japanese deviations, or perversions if you want...
  16. I don't have an actual example of it, but if you want to radically erase every trace of change view modifications, I noticed that GameEx adds a [Visual "something"] at the end of the GameEx.ini.... don't remember the exact words. Well, as you know you can open GameEx.ini with notepad. Delete those [visual] stuff and views are reverted to their defaults. Just to add my 2/cents.
  17. Glad to hear you have your problem solved.
  18. If versions 6,7,8 refer to gamex, I strongly recommend you to update the GameEx to the latest version (13), and make sure your .NET Framework components (which are parts of your operating system) are up to date.
  19. Hello Super, and welcome to the forums! Your question is pretty simple: you can leave your ROMS where they are and tell GameEx where to find them, which emulator to use and so on... with the Setup Wizard Utility. You can launch it through the start menu or launch it directly from the GameEx main directory. I suggest you to follow the "Advanced" option in order to configure every aspect of the frontend but, if you are interested mainly in configuring emulators, you can quickly select the "Custom" option and, in the next screen, select: Emulator Selection Emulator Setup Advanced Emulator Setup There you'll find an almost self-explanatory menu by which set up emulators, paths, artwork, etc... Report back if you encounter any difficulties.
  20. Project64 works with and without quotes (on Windows, at least): one of the few emulators that doesn't get confused by spaces in the command line. Though, your advice is wise Adultery: a good habit to add quotes. @OP: In short, add these lines in Setup Wizard: Project64.exe "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" Gens+.exe "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]"
  21. Yes, as nullPointer said, it strongly recommended to update GameEx to the latest version (13.16 atm). I suggest to uninstall the legacy version, empty the GameEx installation folder and reinstall the latest version. This way you avoid clutter in your gameex folder because, as you noted, some files doesn't exist anymore and they would remain if you simply update without uninstalling. Updating it's not only a matter of troubleshooting, the fact is that now GameEx is a way much much better that version 10. Now the updated news: the Setup Wizard is THE utility you need to configure and tune up every aspect of GameEx. You may need to use other utilities as well, but for now I suggest to open the Setup Wizard, have a bit of patience and read carefully everything throughout, configuring all the options you'll find. Another suggestion: if you are starting from scratch reconfiguring your setup, make sure your emulators are set up, configured and working correctly on their own before starting to add them to your GameEx environment.
  22. Hello! Welcome to the forum ambustion! I see your that your command line for Project64 is: Command=Command=Project64.exe [ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]. Wrong. It shoud be: Command=Project64.exe [ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE] Not sure how did you enter that typo... however, open the setup wizard --> Emulator Setup and in the appropriate box type: Project64.exe [ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE] Oh, I found the same error again for the Genesis: Command=Command=Gens+.exe [ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE] It should be: Command=Gens+.exe [ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE] in the ini. But forget the command= that's in the ini - you just open the setup wizard and, like above, type: Gens+.exe [ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE] Did you use the Setup Wizard utility, or did you try do edit GameEx.ini manually? However, let us know if the above commands work for you, and we are here to assist for any further problem that could possibly occur. Have a good configuration time!!!
  23. These will be permanently part of my setup!!!
  24. If other types of roms are loaded and launched correctly through GameEx, there is something strange here... crt (cartridge) roms should be loaded too. Post the files as Draco said, in this case I really would see the runitgame.bat.
