I read through the string and didn't see this mentioned... how does one define the width of the selection bar? I've dug around in the theme.ini file, but nothing in there seems to control it. I've designed some custom backgrounds, but the selection bar is extending all the way across the screen, and I'd like to define it to be a certain width so it stops within the background box i have created for the list. Thank you in advance for any help.

Thanks Tom, turning that off fixed it. I'm glad I asked anyways, I never would have suspected my drivers.

I run Gameex on my cab as well as my main pc. Recently I had to reformat my main pc and did not back up my gameex config files. I went ahead and copied gameex off my cab, ran the updater, and then just went and changed the drvie letter pointing to all my emulators and roms. I also disabled the arcadevga setting. Now when gameex starts it plays the little jingle, but stays black. Then after a few seconds it shows my background with the gameex logo very very very slowly moving towards the screen. All I can figure is that some setting is totally off. The PC is a dual core 3.8 ghz machine running a 256mg video card - it's never stuttered before, so im sure its not the machine. Any suggestions?

Yes, invest in a super collider. That may get you passed the team selection screen.

Hey guys, I had a torrent a while back (MAME version .7 or so) which had video files for the different mame games, they included the title screen, high score lists sometimes, maybe a "dont do drugs screen, and finally a minute or 2 of game footage. i really like that set-up - when it runs in the screensaver it makes my cab look a bit more authentic. I recently found a mame intro vid torrent for mame 1.06 which was three times larger then my vids, and I got excited thinking I would have a lot more games to cycle through on my screen saver now.... unfrotunately the new video torrent is JUSt gameplay footage, and sometimes only 15 seconds of it. It looks crappy when the screen saver goes from something like Space Ace to a car running around an overhead track for 10 seconds, and then suddenyl bad dudes are walking around tearing it up just as the ninja turtles appear.... Having the title screens and all that really helped break up each game. Not to mention, whenever i saw a game on the screen saver I liked, I could simply reference the title screen to know the name and go play it. I'll be amned if i can indentify these games now with the few secodns of video there is. So, to my question - is anyone aware of a way to obtain mame videos with full title screens and such? I know it's not cool to post links to sites here in the forum, so if you have a speciifc link maybe you can PM it to me or something - or if your aware of a project that deos this, simply giving me the name so I can go search for it myself would be great. Just for the record - please, nobody suggest I make my own mame vids.... I've already tried it and frankly, it looks like crap. Unless you know the secret technique togetting a perfect vid everytime, it's something I'd rather not bother with.

Its typically under "display" settings in the config, but ya, the ini line you found is the same thing. try setting it to true.

I've got red dragon working fine on my cab. If you want to try that emulator i can send you my config file.

when i run gameex the screen goes black and I hear an error beep. If I alt-tab to the model2 window I see the text: could not start video subsystem with a windows error windows over that. If i hit escape it all drops back to gameex.

sure thing edit: works fine for me. Does gameex actually call upon this? If so, is there a way to make it go fullscreen after the game is loaded? I know how to do things like that the long way using closemul and such, but that is also assuming I have a full command line to work with - the way model2 is integrated into gameex, it only assk for the path to the .exe file, ya know?
-
Yea, i seem to be finding that myself... The menu itself cannot go into fullscreen, but if I start the game it then can go to fullscreen. Gameex doesnt lave a lot of room for options though. Is your laoder available for download (and does it work within the model 2 menus on gamex, or does it use up an emulator slot?) thanks! edit: I'm gonna ignore this topic from here on and just move over to the one jombee started so as to avoid double posting/confusion. btw headkaze - the loader worked fine for me, now i just need to get it to wrok with gameex

Hey guys, anyone else ever had a problem with the model2 emulator crashing when you selecr fullscreen? When I double-click emulator.exe it loads up the window just fine. From there I can load roms, etc, and everything plays fine. But anytime I click "Switch to Fullscreen" I mmediatly get the following error message: EMULATOR.EXE has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. AppName: emulator.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: emulator.exe ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 0009b34d I tried it on another computer to make sure it wasn't system specific, and sure enough - it crashed with the same message on the other computer. I'm probably missing something pretty simple, so nay suggestions are greatly appreciated =)

I just went online and downloaded a new version of the dll file and copied it to the system32 directory in dos. That seemed to fix it. There must be a problem with the version on the ultimarc cd I had.

The titles for each page in gameex now have baby blue backgrounds which cover up my background theme, and in general don't look good I tried updating to the latest version, but that didnt help at all. I also looked under display settings in the config app, but nothing there either. If I remember correctly, the backgrounds behind the titles is supposed to be transparant, right? edit: ok, i installed gameex on another machine and the titles look fine... IS this a graphics error or an option i can switch somewhere? 2nd Edit: Ok - Problem solved, i changed the font and it started working fine.

When starting Gameex I get a BSOD refferenced to atiduag3.dll. The driver is part of the ultimarc driver set for the Arcade VGA. It ran fine until I had to do a windows repair install. Now everytime I go to load Gameex I get this BSOD. Searching google shows it is a problem with the file - not gameex, but I was hoping someone here had experience solving this. Thanks, exo

oooo! what a timely update! Can't wait to get home and try this! Thanks Tom =)

Appreciate the link, but I've already got their packs - and I've renamed their packs to match my roms using batch file renamers. My issue is that their gameboy screenshot archive is ancient. Leaves me with blanks for most GBA games.

Ya, I'm registered. When I click create snaps the screen blinks momentarily and it just drops me back to the game selection screen. I was just trying it on my gameboy games which runs through Visual Boy Advance. I can play my games fine - nice perfect running fullscreen mode. I can't however seem to get the snaps working. Currently I'm digging through the configuration settings looking for anything about create snaps. FYI - I'm using the latest version, just ran my autoupdate to be sure.
-
I did try hitting it once just to see what would happen - and I have to say, nothing happened. Is there any special configuration needed? How long does it wait to take the snap once the game starts? Can that time be changed? Where does it save the snaps too? And any other questions you can answer would be very helpful.

I have an LCD TOp GUn as well, and I notice your cab is situated near a window. Does the light from the window not interfere with your gun? Also - is that a TV, PC Monitor, or Arcade monitor in your cab? My LCD TopGUn hasn't been very useful at all yet - although I'm using a wellsgardner - and the two aren't real happy with eachother.

Ive been using gameex for a few months now, and for the most part I have the in's and outs of configuring and getting to look exactly how I like down. I don't however, understand the 'create snaps' options at all. Can someone explain this option or point me to some sort of documentation somewhere regarding it? I need to create snaps of quite a few of my games, and I'm hoping this option might automate it to some degree. Although I may be reading it toally wrong, and misunderstand it's purpose.

All the intro movies are made by this guy: http://www.emumovies.com/order.html he divies up his releases between pleasuredome and emuparadise (depending onthe system). He also takes roders for sending out DVD's. And yea, Headkaze knows all about the ffdshow codecs - anytime someone has video problems, it's headkaze to the rescue!

hehe, I converted a D&D Tower of Doom cab and used the old WG monitor in it. Every game ha sa slightly transposed Towr of Doom title on it, lol. VERY authentic.

Man, i spent a week of nonstop nightly tweaking trying to get freedo1.7 running smoothly on my cab. Now this is released and i'm seriously afraid of updating my freedo in fear it will screw my config up again... boooo!

Is it possible to get a copy of mame32 compiled without the disclaimer screens? If not, are there any sources that sort of have a "compiling for dummies" approach to this?
