  1. oh, btw, movieman - that is the 1812 Overture
  2. for the "love of god" eh? A bit dramatic if you ask me. If off-topic posts bother you that much partner, I suggest getting out a bit more - you know, for the love of god and all.
  3. ya, the problem was trying to restore the ghost image to the computer after changing out your hardware. For something like that, your best off having an external drive handy and just putting it all on there while you set up the new system. I got a 300gb external seagate for under $100, its great for transfering new roms and stuff to my cab (since it's not on the network). Just a suggestion =)
  4. "knowledges" and "need your infos" is enough to tell me we are dealing with an elite haxor here. Either that or he has a horrible lisp that extends right into his typing.
  5. managed to lcoate a second mirror for the guncond river, only to realize that my cabinet has a reclined monitor, and the LED stands ahve to be perfectly vertical. I may try actually mounting them on the side of the cab rather then inside flush against the monitor, although I can't imagine that being a very 'clean' looking set-up.
  6. I got my topgun in finally... does it not come with the ac adapters needed for the gun to recoil? Or is the the point of hooking up both usb cables? if thats the case I'm going to have to buy a usb hub and try to find some way to mount it somewhere int he cab that leaves me enough cable to stand back while opening up a new usb slot for me. So far it's acting really wonky, hopefully after some calibration it will live up to the hype. And now Im finding that smogg's guncon 2 driver site is down.... and the driver that came with the gun doesnt do anything at all. Anyone got smoggs guncon driver available?
  7. thats waht i figured was happening. I always have to move my joystick right and left anyways though. Maybe it is waiting too long to type the O and K, and it's kicking in during the game. Anyone know if gameex does this, and if there is a way to disable it?

    GameEX Marquee

I have personal experience with mamemarquees.com, Scott was really nice and the marquee art I custom made and sent him came back very professional looking. Looks awesome with the striplight behind it. I paid ane xtra $10 to have it printed on teh exact same kind of material as regular arcade units.
  9. I have noticed a similair bug when launchign through gameex where my IPAC4 reports certain keys constantly being pressed which leads to erratic game behaviour. When I drop out of Gameex and load up notepad there is nothing being typed. If I go to the service menu however and go to the section to test the controls, it will comstantly show my 2nd player joystick beiong tapped down and the 2nd player action button 2 being pressed. They are mapped to the keys O and K. This only happens when launching through gameex.
  10. i hope the resolution isnt that big of an issue - my arcade monitor can't display anything above 800x600 - and it doesnt even like that setting very much.
  11. just because you can't play the files in WMP doesnt mean they are corrupt, it can simply mean you don't have the proper codec (most likely divx) installed. The best solution (thanks to headkaze for pointing it ou to me) is to install ffdshow daily build http://ffdshow.sourceforge.net/tikiwiki/ti...Getting+ffdshow Uninstall any other codecs you have and let ffdshow handle everything. If your movies STILL don't play, THEN you can start wondering if they are corrupt.
  12. Well man, I havent gotten mine in to test this yet, but my plan was to use the guncon driver (as mentioned above). this tells the machin that the lightgun is a mouse. Then you just set your lightgun controls in mame to be mouse operated. I use mame32p gui to do all my configuration, and it all carries over to the command line options that gameex calls. I can't offer any help on defining the controls in the straight mame command lien version, as ive neevr tried (seems like an unessecary headache).
  13. try "flat menus"
  14. I may be speaking blind here, but have you tried simply editing the \GameEx\DATA\EMULATORS database file? I just popped open one of the files in Access and can easily see the section where catagory is defined. A simple search & replace function should be able to go through and simplify the catagories for you. Just make sure you back them up, so when you install the next version of gameex, they aren't overwritten and returned to their default state.
  15. under the configuration options is a section that will allow you to enable/disable most of the options on the menu and make it look more arcade like. it is simply called enable/disable features. Regarding the intro movie, my tron background is named bak.MPG and is located in the MEDIA folder of the theme. I suppose putting a bak.MPG file in the MEDIA folder of your theme or default - default will act as your intro movie. You may have to make sure intor movie is enabled in the configuration.
  16. So, freedo runs great on my main machine, but wasn't quite so happy running on my arcade board (a 1.2ghz with the fsb multiplied, which then it claims it is 2ghz). Anyways, it runs fine in regular mode. If i hit f4 to go fullscreen the program just up and quits. If I enable extrapolation and then hit fullscreen, it goes full screen and keeps running.. but my frame rate drops to like 24-30 frames per second (versus the 60fps I get in regular mode). I know the etxrapolation is whats really causing a lot of the slow down, and on my other systesm I can go full screen just fine without turning extrapolation on. Anyone got any ideas regarding this? My only guess is the resolution is some how causing problems, although i have yet to ever get a 800x600 screen to sit properly in my arcade monitor - even with the vertical placement turned all the way up, the bottom of the screen is still cut off by a significant amount. But this might not even be the problem. Im running Xp svcpck 2 with an ArcadeVGA card running 640x480 in 32bit color mode. 16 bit mode looks horrendous on the freedo.
  17. Thats exactly what I did. I extended the power switch and hid it under the coin drop-box. It's practically invisible, and is hidden by the coin door anyways.

    freedowrapper

ok - I got closemul working with the 3DO and gameex - I posted a working config and download link under the user config section. I hope some of you guys find this useful - i have been on a mission to get this to work for a while now.

    freedowrapper

I appreciate the info man. y freedo runs fine when i run it by itself - i have the aspi drivers and bios all loaded up. the game also plays fine when loaded through freedo, so I know my images are ok. I have talked to a couple of people, including John Crouse (the guy who programmed freedowrapper) and have found that it is very finnicky about what systems it will run on. The guy who runs Uncle Teds pinball emu site said it refused to work for months for him, and then one day - bam - it worked. John poitned me to a program called Closemu, which seems to be designed to be a front end wrapper for any emulator. Its highly customizable, but not very clear on how to do it exactly. I figure once I get it all down, I'll post my findings here. It should be really helpful to anyone who needs a wrapper for any emulator that either doesnt have command line settings or needs iso images mounted before hand 9ather then using messy batch files)
  20. no man, the screen has nothing to do with it. The LED bars and the gun handle everything. This is why it works with things like projectors on a wall. Technically you could set up an old fashioned shooting gallery if you just had a program that told it the positions of the targets... hehe, thats not a bad idea actually...
  21. I may be wrong, but I believe the distance you stand is variable based on how far you place the LED stands... ie: the further apart they are, the further back you have to stand. So a 19" monitor is small enough that you would only have to be a few feet back. Again, I may be wrong but I have read this several places.
  22. Yes - its got a real laser pointer. They only cost a few cents to produce these days. Apparantly it makes it EXTREMELY easy to play light gun games with that on, but it's meant to be used while your trying to get used to the correct disatnce, to help the learning curve. the recoil is a slight kickback that takes place everytime the gun fires. After an hour or 2 of play its been reported that the kickback gets stuck in the "kicked" position. It can apparantly be fixed by simply manually pushing it back in place. Not very convienent however in the middle of a gunfight. Due to the nature of the recoil, the gun does not mimic burts fire, such as time crisis 3. You can check out a full review over at IGN. http://gear.ign.com/articles/689/689009p1.html Hopefully mine arrives today so I can verify some of these statements. Ive seen IGN be totally wrong in the past.
  23. Not in yet. Im expecting it either tomorrow or tuesday.

    freedowrapper

I have tried running it with xp svp 2 and media center, no luck on either end. I also installed force aspi since freedo was giving me aspi init errors on startup. Ive also made sure to have all the dll files associated with that emu.zip file above in the proper directories. Throughout all of this however, freedowrapper just sort of hangs and never really does anything. Its extremely dissapointing. Based on the config file in the emu.zip linked above, and that guys instructions, it sounds like everything should be working. I will not rest until Way of the Warrior plays on my cab! lol
