  1. As far as fifteenth century Portuguese explorers go, I've always been more of a Magellan man myself. (Totally kidding - I knew what you meant. Go Buckeyes! Although I am serious about the explorer thing. Magellan > Columbus)
  2. Is Amazon available in the Netherlands? If so that would be my first choice. Here's the U.S. link. I'm hoping it will work for you, or give you enough information to use your local equivalent of Amazon. Ready Player One [Kindle Edition]
  3. I have to agree that this system looks absolutely awesome, and could potentially be the best thing to happen to PC gaming in years. I'd expect a reasonably equiped system to be considerably more expensive than competing game consoles though. Even so, I'm way more excited about this than any of the upcoming next gen game systems. Apparently they can also take a beating:
  4. So I was doing some searching on the forums this morning, and searched on the phrase “Congratulations” across all forums (specifically I was doing some tidy-up work on our Member of the Month announcement thread). Turns out that this particular set of search results was a really fun trip down memory lane, and brought back some great memories regarding the history or our forums and the community we have. If you’re interested and have a couple of minutes I highly suggest checking it out (I can't link directly to the search results, so you'll just have to give it a go). Caution: Warm Fuzzies Ahead!
  5. Glad this solution worked out for you retrogamer32!
  6. This is some very promising progress thurmansevolution! One observation: red text can be very tricky to work with depending on the choice of background colors. It can work well with dark backgrounds, but with any sort of light background (or various color combinations), it becomes more difficult for the eye to separate the text from the background resulting in some eye strain. OTOH, red text does seem to really fit from a thematic perspective! Best advice: use your own best judgment and proceed accordingly. Looking forward to seeing this one progress!
  7. Really cool KRC, these gold jobbies look great! Overall I have a slight preference towards the horizontal gradient of the MAME logo as opposed to the vertical gradient of the CPS3, but they both look fantastic. Well done!
  8. Thanks for posting this info shadowalpha. I'm sure this info may prove to be usefull to our users. I've run into the same limitation regarding the way that GameEx will favor a virtual DT drive over a SCSI when both are present. One workaround that has worked for me is that if you only have a virtual SCSI drive installed the [-VIRTUALDRIVE-] command seems to play nicely with it. It's only when both a virtual SCSI and DT drives are present that GameEx will give preference to the DT drive. That's been my experience at any rate. YMMV naturally. I've made a feature request in the past to allow the [-VIRTUALDRIVE-] command to specify either DT or SCSI so who knows this functionality may be available at some point.
  9. Great work KRC! I'm with Draco, these logos give me an idea for a theme (that I probably won't get around to working on ).
  10. I was sort of thinking the same thing. For the price it would be a much more attractive purchase if they offered customizable side art, marquee, buttons, etc.
  11. Howdy Guys I have no idea how long this sale is running, but I just noticed that Sleeping Dogs is 91% off on Steam right now (normally $49.99 now $4.49 USD!). That's a helluva deal even by the standards of Steam sales. I figured I'd give my GameEx homies a heads up. I haven't played it yet, but it looks like a reasonably entertaining open-world sandbox game in the vein of GTA. It's also popping up on several GOTY lists, so if GTA clones are your thing it's probably worth a look. </spam> EDIT: Looks like this one is already gone! Great while it lasted! Given that the sale was posted for such a short time, and the percentage of discount was a 'non-standard' amount I'm thinking this must have been a mistake on someone's part. I swooped it up at that price though!
  12. So this is pretty much a blatant re-post, but I found this to be extremely good news for MAME enthusiasts. After having been down for months it appears that the source code for MAWS has been released over at MAMEWorld. http://www.mameworld.info/ubbthreads/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Number=297485&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1&vc=1&new=1356984084 While I would love to see another online implementation of MAWS, I have to admit that after having done without for so long I’d be almost more interested in a project seeking to convert MAWS to an offline database / frontend. At least that way it couldn’t be knocked off-line via security flaws, and could be updated incrementally according to the MAME update schedule.
  13. When reporting issues like this, the best means of troubleshooting the issue will be to post a copy of your emulator config, and your log file. In this particular case it might also be good to have a look at your runitgame.bat. Here are the instructions on how to access all of that information. Shooting from the hip: I’m pretty sure that in order for Fusion to load up in ‘Boot Sega CD’ mode, you don’t want to specify a file name in your command line (otherwise it will try to load a disc image internally, rather than run from the virtual drive). This is assuming you’ve already setup Fusion to recognize and read from your virtual drive (as seen here). If the above advice bears fruit, it may mean that Fusion is not fully compatible with auto-disc mounting in GameEx, but likewise doesn’t mean that it’s impossible to achieve your desired results (this is where your runitgame.bat may come in handy).
  14. This is sounding more and more like the problem reported here: [ATTN: TOM] Karaoke - Only previews? It wouldn't hurt to review that thread in order to verify that you are either experiencing the same sort of issues reported there, or whether your issue seems to differ in significant ways. If it is the same problem, I know that this issue is definitely on Tom's radar, and that the more information he is able to collect regarding the issue, the more he may be able to pinpoint the cause.
  15. That Visual Pinball logo looks really slick the way you combined the chrome effects with the punch out. Great job as always KRC!
  16. Hi wayda! In addition to the GameEx.ini you provided would you mind posting a copy of your GameEx log after having experienced this error? It may be a better indication of the error you're seeing in this particular circumstance. Please refer here if you are unsure of how to do so. Thank you!
  17. Perhaps you can describe how you are currently attempting to set and save your input settings? All your nestopia settings are stored in nestopia.xml, so that may (or may not) provide a clue as to what's happening.
  18. These forums are specifically devoted to the GameEx frontend which has ports for Windows, Mac, and some beta functionality in Linux. We also have several members with deep knowledge of topics relating to general emulation. If you have a question about emulation on the Xbox it might not hurt to post it in the Social Club Forum.
  19. Wow, these look great KRC! What a pleasant surprise to have this morning!
  20. Well you have one of two choices. With in the Setup Wizard you can do one of the following: On the Emulator Selection screen you can set the "Demo" slots as disabled. (Uncheck the corresponding checkbox in the left hand column)Alternately you can simply overwrite those slots with your own emulators. (Simply select one of the "Demo" slots, click the "Next" arrow, and overwrite the settings however you see fit). This will probably be the preferable solution.
  21. Happy New Year everyone! Here's to lucky 13! One bakers dozen coming up!
  22. You might be interested in this thread: Best Practices for Filtering by Country It's should still be very applicable to No-Intro sets. I still use this method so I don't have to fiddle with map files, and the results match up just fine with EmuMovies. OTOH some users prefer the level of control that map files offer. Horses for courses.
  23. That's correct. As of tomorrow night (12/31/12) at 11:59:59 we will no longer be accepting new theme submissions for the contest. Please feel free to keep on working on great theme ideas though!
  24. So just to be clear, it sounds like your disc images are not compressed right? If that's correct, try setting the following field to true in the Setup Wizard (located on the Advanced Emulator Setup screen): Scan Sub Folders= Yes I imagine that might get you on the right track. After that you'll probably want to tweak your ROM filter settings so that each game has a single entry in the game list (this could also be accomplished via a combination of the ROM filter and the Excluded Files settings).
  25. Simply AWESOME! Thanks for all the hard work you've put into this Draco! Congratulations on another epic release!
