  1. Yeah it seems like the the "Let's Play" guys have certainly jumped right on it! OTOH who would of thought we'd be getting a new NES game released in 2015? I'm looking forward to giving it a shot my self.
  2. Does anybody remember Dizzy? While not as quite as popular in the U.S., the Dizzy series of games was quite a popular in Europe. My own experience with these games is playing them through their NES ports, and I can vouch for the Dizzy games as being some of the best unlicensed NES carts available (actually quite a few of the Camerica/Codemasters carts are awesome. Check them out if you haven't). Believe it or not Go! Dizzy Go! (appearing on the Quattro Arcade compilation) is one of my wife's absolute favorite titles on the NES. Go figure! Any hoo, the creators of the original Dizzy games recently discovered a long lost unreleased Dizzy game while rooting around in their attic of all things! It's called Wonderland Dizzy, and being the egalitarian sort of fellows that they are the Oliver twins have released it for free! You can play it right in your browser, or you can download it as an NES ROM. You can check it out right here. I can't wait to try it! Off topic, but speaking as a bit of a Doctor Who fan I'm always absolutely chuffed at hearing news like this of "long lost media" being found in unexpected places. Now if they can just track down all those missing episodes. I heard the Oliver twins attic might be a good place to have a look!
  3. In addition to your log, it would also be helpful to take a look at your GameEx.ini. Just out of curiosity, what means did you use to update GameEx (integrated update, download installer, other)?
  4. The man himself will be able to field your question leagues better than I can, but I just figured I'd chime in briefly. Have you checked out the documentation available in the wiki? This page is probably the best place to start. Among other things it describes what methods and information can be hooked through the plugin system (check the bottom of the page ... although I think there are also a few more at this point?). I think that Adultery's Function Logger Plugin can also be immensely helpful while sandboxing your ideas. So yeah ... Adultery will be able to fill in more details on all of this, but if you haven't checked out the resources above it might be a good place to start fooling around.
  5. Nice man! Strange about the additional level being added to to your paths, but all's well that ends well I suppose. Glad to hear you got it all worked out. Well done!
  6. Will you do me a favor Maikerbushi? Please attempt to run one of your problematic emulators (the Fusion example above would be just fine), and then do the following: One way to troubleshoot a problem is to add the word "Pause" at the end of the Runitgame.bat file. When Windows asks "Do you want to save the changes..." Click on "Save". Next, double click on the "Run Last Game" Icon in the Start Menu. This will send the commands again, but the command window will remain open. It may show an error that will help you to understand what is wrong. If you get this error: 'Emulator name.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. It means that either you have the incorrect name specified for your Emulator.exe, or your working path is incorrect. If it gives an error that you don't understand, please let us know that you tried this method, and let us know what the error is.
  7. Hi CHASER and welcome to the forums! It's been requested that all membership and licensing questions be addressed directly to Tom, being that the forum staff and membership are powerless to provide any assistance in this regard. You can find the contact link in your personalized Client Area. Thanks man!
  8. Hi Maikerbushi, and Welcome to the GameEx Forums! So glad to hear that you're enjoying GameEx! It's alwasy great to hear from people that are having a good experience with the software. In regards to the issues you're experiencing, please feel free to create one or more troubleshooting threads and we might be able to get you on the right track, or at least steer you in the right direction. If you go that route, please refer the the How to Ask For Help link in my signature, as there are some files that you can provide which (generally) help to streamline the troubleshooting process. Thanks again, and we look forward to seeing you around.
  9. Hi Massop I know you said that you updated DaemonTools; did you update to the most recent version? The reason I ask is that in the most recent version the DaemonTools EXE is actually called DTAgent.exe (as opposed to DTLite.exe which is how it appears in your generated batch script). Refer to the documentation seen here for further details. It used to only be DaemonTools Pro that used DTAgent.exe, but now the Lite version does as well (although it should be noted that I myself have not updated recently). I think you can change that in your configuration, but Adultery may need to confirm as I'm away from my gaming rig to verify.
  10. Honestly I would start with the MAME Settings section of wiki, which provides descriptions for each field on the MAME settings screen. It's pretty self explanatory, but if you have any specific questions feel free to ask! I would recommend diving in to see how far you get! If you hit any roadblocks, feel free to let us know. If you're having problems with running anything spcifically, please refer to the GameEx: How to Ask For Help link in my sig which will explain what files to post when requesting assistance with problems at runtime.
  11. Hi Methodman What RedDog is describing has nothing to do with your hard drive in the slightest. It has to do with your settings for GameEx. GameEx is not like HyperSpin in that it matters not a lick where your want to put your emulators, ROMs, etc. What does matter is how you configure GameEx in the Setup Wizard. Are you using the Setup Wizard to configure GameEx? Specifically RedDog noted that you have Mame Mapping Magician.exe set as your Mame.exe. It's this setting in the Setup Wizard. You need that setting to point towards the Mame.exe you want to use through GameEx. After that you'll want to fix that and analyze and/or configure the rest of your settings for validity. Good luck, man. It's pretty easy once you start getting it set up. I'm with RedDog - I do think it's odd that this unusual configuration has popped up twice within a couple of days.
  12. Well ... until you consider there's going to be a lot of people eating baked beans, and subsequently placed in close confined quarters with one another ... Totally kidding, I'm really looking forward to it. Should be a blast!
  13. I'm kind of going out on a limb here, but at this point it would probably also be helpful to provide a copy of the Virtual Drive Loader log, which can be found in the following directory: GAMEEX>PLUGINS>DT LOADER. You might also want to verify that your command is configured in the way that Adultery described here (SSF.exe [DTools])
  14. The proprietor of one of our local BBQ joints has rented the XD Cinema in town for the purposes of the Force Awakens premiere. It's going to be a combination of costume ball with catered BBQ and beverages followed by viewing the premier of the movie itself. It wasn't an advertised event, so you kinda had to know someone, but luckily for me I knew someone! BBQ and Star Wars!? Have I died and gone to heaven?
  15. I am unable to view your images at my current location (thanks to a network filter), but yeah it looks like Virtual Drive Loader isn't loading at startup. The Xpadder Plugin is starting up OK, but you should see a similar entry for the Virtual Drive Loader So something is amiss here. I can take a look at your images this evening, although I wouldn't be surprised if Adultery has a suggestion in the meantime.
  16. Hi RedDog Just out of curiosity, have you tried removing the old CustomMenu.ini (backed up to another directory) and started a new one from scratch? I know that there doesn't seem to be an issue with the file itself per se, but I'm just wondering whether any custom menu is going to work on your system ATM. If we can get back to some sort of working baseline it would be progress.
  17. As one of the most helpful GameEx troubleshooters, we need to get you back up and running! Your GameEx Online log can be found in the following location: GameEx\LOG\GameExOnlineLog.txt
  18. Ya know what I think it was a PEBKAC kind of thing! I think I've got it all sorted. Thanks so much man!
  19. Hi Adultery! Hey I changed my forum password a few months ago, but I neglected to change my password in the GameTagger configuration utility at that time. I finally did so today, but my GameTag is still failing to authenticate my account (as seen in the log below) I'm pretty positive I've missed a step somewhere, but I'm not sure what I need to do to get everything synced up once again. Do you happen to have any pointers to set me back on the right track? Thanks man! GameTagger.log settings.xml
  20. Hmm ... that's weird. If it was a matter of GameEx simply taking back focus, SSF would (generally) continue to run in the background. If SSF is actually closing, maybe GameEx is acting like it's supposed to (i.e. SSF closes, GameEx comes back)? Are we sure that SSF isn't actually crashing or something? What happens if you turn on debug mode (found on the Advanced Emulator Setup screen), and relaunch the Emulator?
  21. Just out of curiosity does SSF continue to run after GameEx takes back focus?
  22. Hi RedDog! Yes a lot has changed in regards to the old style game cards vs. the way that they work now, but I think it's a lot easier at this point. Basically it's all ties to your GameEx Online account. I was able to find your account, but it looks like you haven't enabled it within GameEx? In order to enable GameEx Online in the settings. Go to Setup Wizard> Custom> GameEx Online. Change Enabled to Yes and enter your login details (same as forum). Next you'll want to start up GameEx and leave it running for a while so that everything can be synched up with GameEx Online. After that you should be good to go. After that you'll find a link to your game card accessible from your GameEx Online account page. [Tom ninja'd this post, but I was already halfway through typing so I let 'er rip anyway. ]
  23. ^ Hi TheMug! When or if you have a sec would you mind posting your log.txt and GameEx.ini? The error message above does provide some details, but in most cases the requested files are more helpful as an indication of exactly what is happening in GameEx at the time of the error. You can follow the link in my signature for details on how to access those files. Thanks man!
  24. Could I propose a potentially radical solution? So your batch files are engineered to provide Xpadder and image mounting functionality. I suspect that they also may be potentially introducing this issue with emulator timing. One of the most popular options in recent times has been to use plugins to provide the functionality for both image mounting and Xpadder support. The inimitable Adultery has written both a very popular Xpadder plugin and a great Virtual Drive Loader plugin. The advantage that the plugin solution offers is that they provide much greater cohesion with GameEx as opposed to ad hob bat scripts (GameEx be all like, "Oh the plugin is doing something now, so I can wait for that" as opposed to "I don't know what this bat script is doing but the emulator hasn't started yet so ... buh-bye"). This will allow you to run the emulator without run before and run after directives. An alternate approach would be to use an Advanced Emulator config to specify additional processes to watch before returning to GameEx, but yeah ... I'd try the plugin approach first. Once you start using them I suspect you'll be amazed at how much they streamline the process for you. You can download the appropriate plugins using the Repository Manager (Start > All Programs > GameEx > Repository Manager), and subsequently enable and configure them using the Plugin Manager (Start > All Programs > GameEx > Plugin Manager). Initially you can set it up so that the plugins only execute for SSF, but you may find yourself going full steam ahead with them if it works.
  25. Hmm ... would you post your emulator config (or alternately your GameEx.ini) when you have a sec? I'd like to see how (and when) you have your bat scripts running. Thanks Massop! Good to see you by the way!
