Well, you can have custom MAME lists in GameEx! (i only recently found out myself, and it's awesome!! ) It enables you to have your own custom made game lists that show in the main MAME menu, like this (note "High Score Games"!): And it's quite easy to do. Here is the official high score list (right-click, Save As...) put it in a directory that makes sense to you, for example i have mine in \MAME\customlists. Then point GameEx to it: Setup Wizard> MAME Settings> Custom Lists Path Now just boot GameEx, go to MAME and hit Update List. You can make as many lists as you please (save them as mylistwhatever.ini in the same directory) - you can see in my screenshot i have a list for all the games that were in the Shoot Em Up Comp PROS: Has all the built in GE Mame goodness! Doesn't require a separate emulator to be setup. Hi-Score Snapper works! Create your own in minutes! CONS: You have to Update List whenever you make any changes to your lists, which will be at least once a month for our Comp.

As Draco said and also you're looking for "synced lyrics" not the plain text ones (if you want them to scroll with the song). A useful term to know: .LRC In case you were unaware, you can embed these files directly into your mp3's using any good ID3 tag editor

Try enabling the MAME database for the GameEx HiScore Competition emulator slot: Go to Setup Wizard> Emulator Setup, in the Database dropdown menu choose [Arcade] MAME. If that doesn't sort it wait to see what Adultery says OR you can use the custom list method for MAME I know that method works as it's what i use

Just dropping a note here so it doesn't get lost in a game thread - DBM still won't connect Did you change my PW or something without realising? I've completely disabled my firewall to make absolutely sure and it just refuses! It was ok a few days ago and i've changed nothing on my system

Hi cnells, does this happen on all your emulators? And does it happen when you run affected emulators outside of GameEx. Do you have any 3rd party screen rotation software installed? It could also be "feature" of your GPU. I personally am not aware of this key combo and wouldn't have thought GameEx had the power to rotate your game screen. You can of course rotate GameEx itself in the settings but again am not aware of any key combo for it.

! i couldn't go 10 times slower than that with some sort of guide rail

Understood! Though if i recall i've only posted in around 8 games? I'll get my game on real soon don't you worry Once i finish my DB - man that is time consuming work! It's a bit addictive too
-
aww man you just teasing now! lemme see it! i wanna see tah nail gun vid! grrrrrrr
-
Ahh i see - i get ya, i'm a cautious customer anyways these days (comes from losing precious stuff in the past) so the DB in the GE install will always be a copy Thanks for the words of precaution either way
-
That's actually a good idea - i never would have thought of that! But does it still get rid of the "Back Home Exit" portion of it? If not the rest of the menu may as well be there as it is actually quite handy EDIT - i think you can in fact disable that part too, i just can't recall how at the moment. Damn U-Man i think you have solved a question that has come up quite a few times! EDIT2 - it's a good idea, but you lose a lot of the GE magic, not to mention if you're using any kind of post 16bit romset you'll get an ugly list without creating map files

Cheers for the input! I am using a mame set, it's just not available in the main version yet So i will set the NotClone to True for the parents to future proof it - thanks! I'm using db3 as i understand it is/will become the preferred for GameEx. I didn't create the DB itself - that is waaaay beyond my skills i just copied an existing with a few entries and edited all the info that i felt relevant. Regarding GameEx overwriting my DB - it doesn't "clean" it's directories during an update does it? I'm working on a backed-up version my DB anyway, that i then copy to the DATA folder. But i'm curious, GameEx wouldn't actually remove a DB that i put there would it? It's not a DB that exists yet (at least not that i'm aware of and certainly not in a default installation). EDIT - ahh i see now null! actually makes perfect sense Thanks for the info!

...did you see what i did there? So, um, i've spent the afternoon getting my hands dirty with all this database creaminess and i think i'm doing ok so far! Check it: Considering i'm pretty much a complete novice at this (i've had minimal spreadsheet encounters, but understand a bit about strings from messing with VB years ago) i'm feeling rather pleased with myself! I am however struggling to determine the purpose of a few of the column's data and so would appreciate any sort of light you can shed for me. NotClone - in all the DB's i've examined it is always set to False. Under what circumstances does it become True? CustomDesc - Again my newbie brain has no idea what it is for. Data - It's a text base entry for something - no idea what. By all means just yell "them bits are none of your concern, just carry on as you were" and i'll accept that, but if i'm going to get into this i want to be as thorough as i possibly can! I don't believe in half-assing anything If you do something you do it to your best ability am i right? Thanks in advance guys!

You mean MO's??! (i think Den has been on the sauce guys )

@Adultery - thanks again for yet another feature rich and prompt update! I'll take it for a spin in a bit. Then probably come back and be all on your case LOL @MNMax - make sure you are aware of the limitations as outlined by headkaze. you should be ok as there aren't 100's of people using it simultaneously, but back up any scores you're fond of first

Yoda: Use the force you shall. Luke: Screw that gimme my walking stick. And where are my glasses! Anyone see where i left my glasses?!... I jest of course
-
I have the opposite - my dude refused to jump on occasions so i have UP on a button as a backup My pad is 8 years old though and been dropped more than 100 times i'd say onto my wouldn't floor I really should put some time into this one - i deliberately posted a bad score to get my ass moving and i still neglected it Nice score btw!... ...DBM still not connecting for me atm so i'll leave it to GC/Han for the time being otherwise the threads could get confusing. It's done this before and just righted itself. If it ain't connecting by tonight then i'll start worrying hehehe Oh and thanks for sorting them entries for me! Appreciate it boss

I like it! I altered the selector to static as i always prefer them static but that's just a personal preference I like the Touhou logo, in fact they all are nice and detailed but i'd expect nothing less from you It also looks great with the highscore scroller! This one is staying as my main theme - good job  With High Score RSS: The Touhou Logo (for any likely passers by): PS: How do you get a diff font color for the menu, list num, select line etc? Was this added in recently? I've not messed with themes in a while -
The force is strong in this one Oh and welcome to the competition! @GC/Han - DBM not connecting. *Updated OP only.

Yes! clean and crisp! As much as i like all these eye-candy creations that have been released lately, sometimes simplicity just fits the bill nicely. Imma take this for a spin! -
Yeah you get used to it speaking of which you don't wanna see what popped up for me when i entered here with that 69 in the title - it involved something that was 7 inches...
-
I think i need to have another try at this - i don't like being that close to the +10 zone
