hehe i've heard good things bout the WD Red's but after losing 2 WD's (both Black's) through normal operation within 3 years i must admit i would probably seek an alternative afterall, if a snake manages to bite you twice you really don't want to wave your hand in it's face

I want this too in the future, and i have read many member's woes on here too in the past Still, like you said it's gotta be better than them damn externals ARRRGH! And to have a centralised system in the home is where it's at Moving stuff with external drives and usb sticks get's tedious am i right The only thing i'm sceptical about is "cloud gaming" what with latency and such. I don't know if tech is fast enough yet but with all other media then that's the way i want to go.

Setting a command line for daphne for volume setting
DazzleHP replied to cnells2000's topic in General
Yes or add it to the main Daphne Options command like so: vldp -fullscreen -x 640 -y 480 -nohwaccel -volume_vldp 64 (or whichever number is reasonable on your machine) But that would set it across all your games though so per-game would probably be preferable. The real issue here though is why it is exiting on the volume up keypress? Which key is it and have you altered it from default? It sounds as though it is set the same as, or at least conflicting with GX's process close. A log.ini after you have pressed your volume up while in Daphne might be helpful here -
So close but grats man that book gave you one hell of a jump! Next time eh *Updated OP, DB, RSS.

Hi trogdor7, The games you are seeing listed are probably the dummy roms and media supplied with GameEx. They are fake roms and do not work. Their only intended purpose is to demonstrate how GameEx will look and function once you have populated the directories with your own real roms After all, if you are new to this and you installed GameEx without the dummy roms or any roms of your own, you would essentially see nothing when you loaded it for the first time. The dummy roms give the first-time user a chance to see and feel GameEx before loading it with your own collections. You are safe to delete them and replace them

Grats! It's getting hot in here... *Updated OP, DB, RSS.

Hey Han, This is probably a longshot, but you could check your USB and HDD power settings (usually somewhere in Advanced Power Management). It could well be that Windows is powering off the connection before your drive gets to do anything. I've seen some crazy things with external drives

I remember that thread actually May be we both had it on our minds when we replied - i certainly was willing to spark up a debate bout shaders for no reason other than i knew in my subconsciousness there was a debate to be had

Actually null i think you're right on the money there. Assumptions aside, i think it can be assumed that people with the amount of experience between us all combined, we can assume that the RetroArch executables don't play nice with GameEx's built in functions Again though this trickles towards the question of, how many MAME derivatives should GameEx support, and where does it end? I personally already know the answer to that and stand by the original mission statement whole-heartedly.
-
Yes, it does and it probably wasn't the best vid to show it off But many of the titles i will showcase will have something similar, a unique mechanic or a great scoring mechanism. I know my stuff
-
That was precisely my first thought too Tom and nullPointer, I wanted to get to the bottom of why a RetroArch mame.exe behaved differently than a regular mame.exe. That was my initial instinct. But then i realised the OP was asking a simple question and was conflicted in my response - do i delve deeper and try to solve this at the root, or just give a solution to the question? I admit i wasn't sure at the time of my response but hope my actions/responses were just

Perhaps i should expand my explanation It would be an ongoing competition much like our official contest. But with bullet hell/danmaku shoot'em ups available on the PC - in other words will be installable, and playable without an emulator. I would probably choose a few that are both somewhat rare but at the same time available through a platform such as Steam - like eXceed 3rd, and Ether Vapor for example. And likely some interesting freebies that the general public are not aware of. The goal is to get a nice shoot'em up competition going, which is accessible to most everyone Here are a couple that could possibly make it in: I have many more up my sleeve!

Hi Cisek, Have you tried assigning the MAME database to your emulator slot? Go to Setup Wizard> Emulator Setup. Select which ever slot you have MAME in, then in the Database drop-down choose [Arcade] MAME. Then change Use Database Name to Yes. You may have to delete any associated cache files to see any changes (in \GameEx\DATA).

Actually that was my last suggestion Get rid of GameEx completely, including the registry entries, then redownload the latest and start again. Like i said - drastic but worth it in my opinion and i've been at this a while
-
OK, then my personal expertise has only one solution left. And it's a somewhat drastic one . So i shall leave it to better minds Give 'em time coz these guys have real lives too, and so it might take a while to get a response, but we always get people sorted Be patient and you'll get your answer. Good luck and sorry i couldn't help you as much as i'd have liked.
-
did you check the permissions i asked for earlier? You Still haven't comfirmed that yet. And GameEx 13+ works a whole lot different to v12.
-
I think they both have become fused into one, both by updates and human error - like a hybrid of GameEx's
-
Actually, come to think of it, i seem to have a memory of Tom stating in a recent update that some (older) versions may not be compatible?! My memory is shot to hell so i'm doubting myself as much as you are reading this, but may be i'm right. Arrrgh! That's what i get for being absent EDIT - WfM, your original version of GameEx is quite old right? Maybe the updates are over-writing your old configs to accommodate the new features? This is all speculation of course as like i said - my memory is the most unreliable source of info on the planet
-
Already confirmed in my initial questions, and he is running the latest as it has GameEx Online portions - they are new to public correct? But i agree it is strange that it seems to have reverted back to default on update...
-
Hmmm, well in the newer gameex.ini there is no information regarding any emulators apart from MAME and Daphne, yet in the old one they are clearly there. Can you make sure your newer gameex.ini has write permissions - right-click> Properties, make sure "Read Only" is not checked. Also, you could try as a long shot backing up your newer gameex.ini first, then over-write it with the old one (still make sure that Read Only is not checked afterwards).

Hi WfM, There are a few things that could be causing this, so i'll ask some quick questions if i may: Is GameEx installed in the default location (C:\GameEx) or in a system directory such as Program Files or even a separate partition? Do you have more than one installation of GameEx? Does the GameEx directory and it's subdirectories have write permissions? Which leads me to... Are you using any logon features and are you sure you are logged into the same User each time? These are a few off the top of my head but i'm sure there are more. When you reply would mind attaching your log and gameex.ini. Thanks EDIT - Adultery, don ninja me i keel you
