Hi chaps and chapettes, I read somewhere in another post that given time all artwork will eventually appear in the Steam section, however i've had gameex installed on my new rig for around a week now and i only have artwork for 5 out of 30 games installed - the same 5 that appeared almost instantly after fresh install. Yet the snaps show on my GE-Card (check out torchlight II snap in my sig). Games that are showing artwork: eXceed 1, 2 & 3 Mafia II Half-Life II EP1 Also i have a double entry for Metro 2033 (see screenshot) and Half-Life II EP2 is missing altogether. I screenied my steam client to prove it actually is installed and present. I'm stumped on this one guys and appreciate that Steam integration is a new feature so kinks are expected.

Glad to hear it! I'm sure you noticed during testing that there are tons of indie games that are based on retro style gaming Super Meat Boy being a fine example. Dam i love that game! Think of old school Mario on speed but with a slight suicidal tendency - awesome EDIT: There is a free multiplayer weekend for MW3 on at the moment for anyone interested and has a powerful enough rig Not my kind of thing but meh it seems to be popular

Thanks for the info guys, i've had my eye on the Tank for a while and seeing as Gremlin (pretty much the only UK supplier i found so far) will replace the buttons with Happ competition buttons for me i think that's what i'll go for! I really wanted to try and build my own but the trouble with that is i am ok with electronics but i'm terrible with carpentry and the empty cases i found were £200+ So imma own me a custom tank!! Thanks for the FYI Tom - i like to know i'm doing the right thing when parting with that sort of cash

Hi all! I am aware that alot of you, especially the regulars have your cabs already setup and running so was looking for some advice of where exactly to purchase a stik, who are the best and trusted suppliers and if anyone with experience can give advice on which sticks/buttons are best for endurance/can take punishment (it will see a LOT of use) as i don't want sticky buttons or unresponsive sticks. I've had a browse @ arcadecontrols.com but most suggest US based companies, which is not a problem except the shipping cost is immense and i have a very tight budget so a UK/European supplier would be most helpfull. Budget will be £250/$400 Requirements: 2x good sticks 12x player buttons (6 each) 2x Insert coin buttons 2x Start buttons TOTAL: 16x buttons Possibly a spinner if budget allows Can it be done with this budget? Or will i have to save for another dam year? I have looked at the tanktsik which as i understand is a very good prebuilt stik, but i want colored buttons because i'm fussy like that heheh however i may settle for one if it's my only option. I look forward to your inputs on this one Thanks y'all.

Good idea this! Joined I think i'll make it my primary group too to give GE some spotlight. Only 4 of us so far though?? I thought as we are all gamers here there would be way more steam users - go figure.

Just stopping by to give some applause for this! Great theme and certainly one of the best HTPC oriented themes i've seen so far - GameEX is a true rival to XBMC with all these great HTPC themes being released - cracking job! Thank you
-
I didn't even make a draft as i was going to start yesterday till i found this thread I am being sincere when i say that yours really does pretty much match exactly what i imagined, albeit a slighlty different layout - which is a trivial matter anyway as i like yours! Seems a bit of a waste to make a theme which will essentially be the same - with a slightly diff layout However i will offer my services in converting to green, amber, red, purple or whatever as i can probably run your theme through gimp using a script I'll be more than happy to give SOMETHING back to this community - specially after ditching 7 of my own themes half-way through
-
I second both these replies and will also add that if you are new to MAME compiling Mr Do has a great guide for beginners here: http://mrdo.mameworld.info/compile.html Good luck!
-
Draco my man, seriously, i've been thinking about making that theme for the last few weeks then i come here and see that screenshot - honestly that is the exact image well near as dammit that i had in my head! Digital font and everything it's uncanny So erm opinion is yeh i frikkin love it! I'm a bit spooked out right now. I've scanned the rest of your bits and they look awesome too! Can't wait for this one I was also going to do 3 versions - a red and a green one each too, not that i'm hinting lol no, seriously i wasn't heheh

ahaha readin that brought sooo many memories back! my "uncle" who was a very close friend of the family did the same thing! but he was a *ahem* bit underhanded as in he would get the "non-legeit" boards for cabs and open to public like they were real, i still have memories of SFII machine goin nuts! Underhandedness aside, memories ahhhhhhgh =D (ps "uncle" was a distant relative, i had nothing to do with his "business" disclaimer_END) So what Adultery said about being a cart dumper/scener may actually be pretty close to what he's doing. i would also agree is most likely

ahhh then you missed out! From personal experience (yes i am that old, i was there from day one - 11 yrs ago!) and honestly if you like rpg's - especially if you like looters then well PSO2 frikkin rocks! PSO was basically the first online rpg on consoles, it was my first for sure! and many others and ff, wow etc came way after (in online terms). PSO basically has a great future landscape (was one of the 1st to do "future" as a concept, as most thought medieval was the way - ??! =/) it's action oriented, has awesome job skills, its free, <-WTF?!! the past idk 8 Phantasy Stars wanted money - this one doesn't and is far superior! - go figure. if you need any more info "Chewwy" =P, i'll be glad =)
-
dit-sham if i won the lottery i'd bid! hell yeah i would! Call me anal - i've been called worse - but i am a game hoarder and honestly if you are gamers, which i'm sure SOME of you are (!lmao!) you would'nt believe what i've HAD to sell in the past due to financial restraints, and i promise i regret everyone of them sales! If this hoard is legit then dam i feel for this guy and would offer 2m just to help ease the pain! *ahem* enthusiasm-burst over. Seriously though that is one tasty hoard!

Hi all! It's been a while but i'm still lurking! I just wanted to inform any Phantasy Star fans out there that PSO2 (jp) has been released! I've been on it since the closed beta and trust me when i say it is frikkin awesome. Okay, details: Trailer: Official site: http://pso2.jp/ Registration: https://iway.isao.ne...n.cgi?siteno=P1 Registration GUIDE: http://www.pso-world...&postcount=1678 The english speaking community have decided to land on SHIP-02 SHIP-10 So make sure to choose either when creating your character as you CANNOT change ships once started! If you choose another ship then well, i hope you speak fluent japanese! (or are comfortable with loneliness) Here's a little vid of it (and me) in action (ofcourse 1080p if you can!): [media=] European release is scheduled for first quarter 2013 so if you are anxious about using a jp client you'll be waiting a while, so i will add that i do not speak or read an ounce of japanese but it is very easy to grasp, me and a few mates managed with no drama so ultimately your call =) If you saw the vid then you know my character so hope to see some of you there! I'm on SHIP-02 (as are most) so if anyone spots me then holla! Take care y'all Daz Oh, btw i should probably mention - it's FREE to play! All item, wepons and armor units are obtainable in the game! Also - mags are back! I'll happily provide any info should anyone have need

Thanks Tom!

Is there a way to disable the Trilobyte splashcreen? If so try that as It could be that the game is loaded in a seperate process ie in the background while the splash is displayed therefor once the splash is killed gameex will think the game has exited and regain focus. I maybe barking up the wrong tree but it's something to consider =)

Hi all, So i'm loving the new start page layout, the horizontal graphical version after pressing "change view" a few times and was wondering if we can set this in the themes .ini so it starts with that view as the themes default? I'd feel rather awkward if i were to release a theme and in the readme have to put "by the why you need press change view 3 or 4 times" I haven't found any themes that use that view by default so nothing to campare to (yet). My head is exploding with ideas for this!

Works perfectly thanks! This should be stickied somewhere if not already.

Yes! Though admittedly been neglecting it for the past year or so. Too many games, too many eras, not enough time ;-) User is "MuthaShmupper", status is "teh suck" (check sig for proof) hehe but yeh in all seriousness i'll give you a game on summat! No particular taste just love gaming - i'll play SupCom2 to Magicka (which is actually frikking hilarious btw). Are you a new user or just desperate for a good game? Either way add me if you like, i'll check soon =)

This can be achieved using InstantSheller: http://www.gameex.co...tantsheller.zip As for the rest, everything you require can be done but you will have to do some learning. Unfortunately there is no "one solution suits all" otherwise we'd all be using it to start you off search "clrmamepro" Good luck! And i'm sure the regulars here can give you further assistance should you need it

Have you tried booting from a linux live (dvd) disk? My dad a similar issue with one of his drives - doesnt show in bios or in windows (it was his backup drive) however i booted into linux which detected it and i was able to copy all his files onto another drive for him. After researching it turned out it was a corrupted boot sector screwing the whole drive. if you want to give it a shot, even just to grab all your files try Linux Mint - It is the most user friendly version which i use, very similar to windows (in gui terms) and like all live disks you can boot straight off the dvd (or cd if you go for that version) no install required! Grab it here: http://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=1889 Hope you get it sorted man! Have a good crimbo

Hi all, Whilst going through gameex config to redirect my mame paths (after updating to 144) i noticed the "enable highscores" option, so selected Yes expecting it to show somewhere on the game info page. However i see nothing, and am now wondering if it indeed is supposed to show on the info page? Or whether other options must be configured? To confirm i do have a custom compile with the hiscore.diff patched in and it is working OK. Showing hiscores in gameex itself sounds freakin awesome! That is, if that is what "enable highscores" is supossed to to! I read somewhere on here something about it a while back, but my friend Jack was here and so cannot remember either the information in it, or where the hell the thread is lol Its no biggy but still, nice to have all the features! I fear i'll never stop tinkering with GE... ...and i don't think i ever want to! any help most appreciated guys n guyettes

Did my +1 for GameEx I think hyperspin will nearly always come top in a poll like this - people like "fluff" or eye candy and HS does it very well. However gameex rules the htpc market imo and has a certain elegance that hs doesn't. They both are good FE's but i'm in the gamex crew (obviously). Big up da gameex massive! hehe

[CURIOUS] Has anyone managed to compile .144u2...
DazzleHP replied to DazzleHP's topic in Social Club
Cheers Draco! I dunno what happened - mame compile days are always mind...erm...humping And yeah i'm having no luck, google isn't returning anything usefull. I like the no nags n highscores too much dangit. Back to .143 it is -
... with the latest hiscore.diff?? So i put around 12hrs aside today to compile the latest mame (yes i've done it before lol) with the hiscore.diff and i'm on attempt number 8 now - still no luck infact i started doubting myself so even popped on over to Mr. Do's and i'm doing it all right, i think, like i said i've compiled mame before but i just can't get it to work! To prove (to myself) that i'm not having my weekly neuro spasm i compiled without hi_144.txt and it worked 1st time! Started again from fresh, i always do, patched the hi_144.txt back in and bucketload of errors again. Ugh. So i'm wondering has anyone here managed to do it? I know a few y'all here like the no nags too so if you could reasure me that i AM an idiot and it's all my fault then i'll keep trying ^^ otherwise i'mma go paint some walls with skull matter Oh, this perhaps may help you pinpoint my stupidity: FILES: mingw-mame-w32-20110519.exe mame0144s.zip 0144u1.diff 0144u2.diff hi_144.txt PROCEDURE: patchmame 0144u1 patchmame 0144u2 patchmame hi_144 (after renaming to diff ofcourse, i've also tried it without the rename using patch -p0 -E <hi_144.txt) makemame Does that all look ok? I know this ain't a mame forum but i like to lurk and here some of you are atleast aware of my existence hehe EDIT: WOAH ok i swear i put this in the social club forum! maybe now i'm having my brain twitch! sorry guys
