haha awesome! there are a few 4-ways it should work good on now Did you try to compile with the Directinput switch in the end? Just curious as i may well get one one day
-
Heh yeah Windows doesn't like themes being messed with - or even taken away it seems! Can really screw with the form layout. Glad you're back to Normalville now though sir - and can focus on laying out your awesome custom menus instead
-
That is weird! Works ok here after just updating. Changed your windows theme or anything recently? For your information, you can scroll through the tree list using the keyboard - it's not a solution i know but atleast you'll hopefully be able to still sort your Menu's in the meantime
-
lol! Happy Birthday Dennis! And Draco... hummus? On your birthday? Everyone's different i suppose! Just in case you can't get drunk of the hummus, here have a beer - just a lil teeny one.

...\GameEx\CONFIG\custominput.ini Refer to scancodes.txt in the same directory for the number codes

Good question and i was gonna ramble about pro sticks and such, but then i found this that will probs fill all your geek needs and answer why at the same time some people take these things so seriously (i do not, but i do know why people do ) -EDIT- A stick that did this on-the-fly would be awesome but unfortunately doesn't exist either you have an 8-way that is good for fighters, or a four way that is good for Pacman, Shmups etc. Granted there are gimmicky sticks out there but they are not really practical in my opinion. If i was to make the perfect solo CAB it would have an 8-way on the left and a 4-way diagonal on the right - but that is me

Hi night, In the Object Browser, expand "Mod Background" then select "Emulator Select" and click on the [ Open... ] button and browse to your image. For individual emu's you'll find them in the "Emu Background" section. I think this is what you mean, please correct me if i'm wrong

Discuss the Industrial Revolution here. Kidding! You guys knew what i meant, right? Well if you didn't i'm ofcourse talking about the new Steam Box(s)! It keeps getting mentioned and i myself am very interested so i thought what the hay, we may aswell have a dedicated thread for it Thats all well and good Daz, but what is it?! Dammit! Good question, and one that would be better answered with some good reading, rather than my ramblings. So here you go: Valve Steam Box news and features @ TechRadar.com Why Valve's Steam Box is a console killer @ TechRadar.com Valve's Gabe Newell Gives Details on Steam Box @ TomsHardware.com The Promise and Potential Pitfalls of Valve's Steam Box @ IGN.com The info is pretty much the same in all articles (bar the failure risk in IGN's) but it's good practice to get info from a few sources FYI the "Piston" is not Valve's own or the SteamBox! It is a SteamBox being developed by Xi3. It may or may not look like this: Anyone else here interested in this? It could be market changing stuff! Then again it may not..

Sweet man - if i wasn't planning on actually building a cab one day, when i have the space i would definitely get a couple of them! I shouldn't need to ask if you're gonna use the top panel - why it isn't the standard artwork is beyond me
-
Cheers for follow up link null! That is good news - i would be hesitant to pay £40 for a game that may only get used for 2-3 days and then is useless to anyone else. I suspect some of you are the same, but my family and friends all swap games to borrow coz lord knows it's expensive to keep up with every new release. If we couldn't anymore then, well, consoles just wouldn't be an option for many of us. Also the offline newsbit may just sway me into buying the PS4 over the 720. With the situation i'm in right now and for the foreseeable future atleast, i can't be guaranteed to always have a connection. Plus i had my glory days in multiplayer gaming already and now i've gone back to playing single player mostly. Why should we have to be online to play a single player offline game?! It's ridiculous.
-
Ouch! That might be why they scrapped backwards compatibility from the beginning - to keep costs down, hence the rumored £300 release price. And in fairness to Sony their consoles do have a stupidly looooong shelf life. I mean, you can still buy a brand new PS2 if you look around! -back on topic- The "Instant On/Off" feature has me a bit worried - i dunno, just switching a console off mid-game just doesn't sit right with me. "No more waiting 60 seconds for your console to boot" - really?! Is this how things are going - people in such a hurry they can't wait one frikkin minute! It'll end up that we are born, all knowledge in the world & all the emotions and feelings ever felt are injected into our brain, then killed off and our flesh recycled as energy for the next "1 hour lifetime". /rant

Hehe yeah me too, well either a PS4 or 720. I always say i won't but still do - then feel like a complete fool 6 months later when they knock 30% off the RRP Man i miss having a Nintendo console for the few franchises i love. Like Zelda and Mario - yeah i still love Mario and no i won't grow up But i just can't bring myself to buy a console solely for one or two games. Still, Dolphin and P64 give me enough Link & Mario medicine when i need it

Or rather, doesn't. They did however reveal the controller and a boatload of other information for all you geeks out there, in a New York conference a few hours ago. I can't find a good source vid of it anywhere and there seems to be bits of it scattered all over the net so if anyone finds a good source please share After reading quite a few articles this one @ techradar.com has the most info in one place i could find. For clarity the link again with full address: http://www.techradar.com/news/gaming/consoles/ps4-release-date-news-and-features-937822 For all you wanting to to see the actual console - i guess we're still gonna have to wait till E3. I'm pumped about these new gen consoles - i just hope they don't forget about us hardcore gamers, the ones that prefer physical controllers with buttons, rather than waving our arms about like a maniac # #UPDATE from 21st February More info - thanks null! - should've done this sooner - thanks all the same! The full vid: (i couldn't get it to embed properly because of age verification, sorry) The full 2 hour New York conference courtesy of playstation.com

Why not just copy the .dll from the GE folder to \Windows\System32 then: regsvr32 Interop.WMPLib.dll in the runbox? assuming the one in the GE directory is infact the .dll you need.

... there must be a smiley here that conveys my thoughts on them specs... nope - it's this one: Please don't tell me you're using that rig solely for emulation?! I'd love to see what that badboy can do running Skyrim or Crysis 2 or BF3! For the record Skyrim is the one i'm really interested in, but Crysis and Battlefield are beautiful games graphics-wise nonetheless. I see you went Corsair for your RAM (who wouldn't) but what do think of Ripjaws? i only ask coz i can get hold of a pair of 8gb for £50/$70 and you seem like you might have experience with good kit! Seriously though man i tip my hat to that rig. WOW.
-
Glad you're all sorted The theme in the vid is "The Darkness" by RageOn - download it here! (you'll need scroll down quite a bit) And i was being silly about the vid - it's mine lol
-
Also, if you are using custom menus you will need to add it as a New Item, then: Item Type>Steam cool vid btw
-
Yeah thanks for share! i like what he's doing with this & hope he intends to do more games in the future

Starting my next arcade machine. Need suggestions for games.

HAHA! mental! Chaos, you HAVE to post a vid of you guys playing this once it's done. How did you come up with an idea like this?! Actually don't answer that Yeh lol - stamp stamp stamp guitar stamp guitar guitar - side-splitting stuff for sure! -
Hi servo, i'm curious as to why you converted from mp4 to AVI? Was it because of playback issues? If so you may need to install some codecs. I know there is a stigma around codec packs but many of us here, myself included, have had great success using shark007's codec pack. The pack is designed to be conflict free and easy to use and you may find your vids work OK after install. MP4's are the way to go and among other things you'll be able to make full use of the tasty vid-snaps over at EmuMovies PS I prefer to have just games in the screensaver too, and GE is awesome ain't it?! It gets even better the more you learn it so be ready to have your mind blown (again, and again)

OMG i threw one out literally 3 months ago when going through my "big-box-o-cables-n-wires" along with 2 knackered cubes! Typical - you keep hold of this stuff for frikkin years, then the moment you get rid someone could use it! Anywho, the official cables will be hard to find - and if you do manage to find one expect to pay an unreasonable amount for it. I did however find THIS. Seems to have good reviews and only a tenner. Could be an option if you're not too purist-elite EDIT - after a bit of reading it seems some third party scarts are a bit of a gamble and i can't find find an official anywhere! Not even on eBay! It's like they are extinct. Darnit why i throw mine out - with a hell of a lot of other cables for that matter

Hi there, the emulators you mentioned that are ok (NES, SNES, N64 etc) are not configured to use MESS according to your GameEx.ini so ofcourse are behaving how they should - as separate systems As for the Atari systems (some) which are configured for MESS - this may seem like an obvious question but, do you have the relevant (and only relevant) roms in the directories for each system? Or do you have the same romset copied 3 times into each directory? As i said its seems obvious but it never hurts to be thorough
-
[my2cents] I can confirm Jamestown atleast works through gameex here and does infact use the overlay. Do you have notifications on in the Steam client? Settings>Interface>bottom checkbox. I doubt it has any affect but that steam nofication window has messed with other programs for me in the past hence it is switched off & you just never know with these things so thought i'd throw it out there [/my2cents]

Most congrats! As a "lingerer" for a while i always read your posts and agreed with them. You epitomise the struggle between good and bad - i like when you are good - i love when you are bad From a Padawan to a Jedi - I hope to serve you one day *bows*
