Can you maybe set up XP on VMWare and launch them that way in their native OS? That would solve the glitch issues, but would make for some crazy load times.

@Drac: I think the issue is deleting the local data and reinstalling them in the new library location. Both my Puzzle Quest games are on the other drive and they work fine after having been moved/reinstalled, but I didn't have them installed on C: first when I launched Gameex last. @Dazzle: Nah, I thought of that already. I feel like GameEx could just parse the json in config.vdp and get all the info it needs from AppID to install path, but it didn't do that apparently because I changed the paths there as well.

Yeah I don't wanna do that... I have a SSD coming for the OS on the cabinet and I'm not gonna waste it on Steam games. I'll try and completely uninstall Steam and reinstall it. I was really hoping that Tom could at least point me at the file he pulls the game data from, maybe I can manually fix the paths. Or I'll just not use GameEx to play Steam, which would be a huge bummer.

Yeah, it will do a false positive because the loader hooks your gpu in a less than conventional way. When I was setting this system up I gave up on AH3 for the same reason, plus it never quit gracefully anyway. I had to reboot my pc to get it to stop at all.

two Steam libraries, one is C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\ and the other is S:\Steam\steamapps\ and both are configured through Steam (I use a mapped network drive so I can share between my PC and my laptop). If I had to take a stab at it, I would say GameEx isn't looking in the second library location even though it should be.. I even went head and changed the config.vdf file to reflect the changes. It may also be relevant that I uninstalled some games so I could move them over to the network drive yesterday... Although Puzzle Quest 1 and 2 were among those and it seems to pick those up just fine. I also deleted all GameEx related STEAM files. So where is GameEx getting this install path data from??? /Side note: If I remove a game from the Steam list it is back after I restart GameEx, as if it's not saving the filter list on exit. Anything else you need?

You could just go to advanced emulator setup and select a map file for Mame if there is one. But you're doing something wrong for sure...

The emu babes come from the emulator settings, and the rest are from the GX db3 files.

OK, so you are setting up MAME as an emulator and not using the integrated MAME features. Can you post your GameEx log and Settings.ini please? /Side note: Why not just use integrated MAME support? Setup Wizard->Custom->MAME Options

Not that list, the list of categories. For example on my rig, I start GameEx @ the start screen, select Emulated Games, then select MAME. On the screen that comes up is a list of categories: All MAME Games, MAME Originals, Not Yet Played, 4 Player, etc. At the bottom of this list is where Update List is.

Thats expected behavior unfortunately. You have a couple options here. You could restart the cabinet and have a startup program like GameExLaunch that launches Gameex for you on startup, or just make a bat file. Otherwise, thats gonna have to be a feature request. GameEx loads the snaps on a thread at startup, and the data isn't reloaded until GameEx is. I have gone to some lengths to update the data.db3 file manually in my own code to get around behavior like this.

The way MAME sets change, is be willing to bet you won't be happy using an old set. Better run them through ClrMAMEPro our something, or better still, update your set to match your exe.

@Dazzle: Adultery77 @KRC: That sounds awesome actually! I'll be on that for sure. Just picked up Puzzle Quest 1 & 2 for $10, so i'll be on that for a bit. But I would put that down to get back into some SF IV no doubt!
