  1. That's exactly right from how I am to understand it. The only question I have is this - if your ROM sets are merged, how do you select clone versions? Seems to me that if your ROM set is merged, it'll only play the Parent set. Seems silly to have clone sets at all if you're going to merge them...
  2. You're right, MagicEngine is not free. But what's $20 when it's for something that works as good as MagicEngine? pSX supports its own ISO compression system, so you actually use less than ePSXe per ROM. Here's what I use: NES = NEStopia SNES = zsnes N64 = PJ64 Intellivision = Bliss Atari 2600 = Stella Atari 5200 = MESS Atari 7800 = MESS Atari Lynx = Handy Dreamcast = Chankast & DaemonTools with Kazi's Chankast Launch boot program Hope that helps!
  3. For TG16 - you should try out MagicEngine. It doesn't get much better than that. Also, I use pSX 1.7 - ePSXe is good too, don't get me wrong, but I feel pSX is easier to use / add.
  4. You might have it set to save the ROM sets it changes as backups in case you have a problem - clrMAMEpro does this by default so I imagine RomCenter would also. Hope that helps!
  5. One of the 50,000 GameEx related projects I'm working on is GoodMerge snaps. Just so you can get a sample of what the system is for naming / renaming snaps I'm linking to a set of Atari 2600 snapshots for the GoodMerge system. I'll be adding more from time to time over on the ConfigHQ site - but I'll post links in the forum as I finish new sets. Enjoy! 2600 GoodMerge Snap Set
  6. I might have responded but it looks like Han has everything under control here. Move along everyone! Nothing more to see here! Seriously though - welcome to the forum, GAMER - and we're all here to help you. Just follow the most important thing about this or any other gaming related site: It's all about Emu Etiquette ( Bet I misspelled that terribly! )
  7. Don't ask me why I posted this, but I was breezing thru the forum and I found what I would consider to be the funniest response I've ever seen Tom offer anyone on any given topic. I must have laughed for 5 full minutes! It's the 'Keep Taking The Pills' part that slays me... But I suppose the customer service bulls**t that I deal with every day makes me wish I could respond like this to a customer. Thanks for the good times, GameEx forum! PS - He really had it coming too.
  8. Have been working pretty furiously on it. I am adding things everyday, and by Monday evening I hope to have the GameEx configuration ready to go. There's probably enough for you to add links if you like - although the best part (emulators section) is not up yet. If you'd like to start plugging it I'm okay with it... Most of the people who need help setting up GameEx will already find alot of useful things there, like links for MAME screenshots, icons, emulators (including zinc and model 2) and other tweaks... People should definately be able to benefit from it. I will add the remaining 10 or so pages for the Advanced Configuration walk-thrus tomorrow and have the Basic Configurations done by Monday. So yeah. It's ready enough. Sorry to babble.
  9. Not sure about PC games, but for emulators if the name is the same as the file (ex: Mario Is Missing! (U).nes + Mario Is Missing! (U).jpg) the picture shows up. Have you tried it that way? Hope that helps!
  10. I think it would be groovy if the screensaver also included my emulators, although I'm not sure that would even be possible.
  11. Actually Tom's awesome. He's the one who told me about it on his Links & extras page.
  12. Try this site: http://localarcade.com/screenshotarchive/
  13. Not sure what you're trying to do, but the .ini is useless unless it's GameEx specific, and even then you still have a great deal of work to do before your emulator will be up and running... Like the ZSNES INI that's there is an advanced GameEx specific config file, not your emulator's INI. You more or less have to add settings yourself (such as working folder, .exe, rom path, etc) even if you import an INI. If you need help with this, the fine people here would be more than happy to assist you. Hope that helps!
  14. Agreed. That's where I get most of my updates from. They haven't let me down yet.
  15. It's pretty much the same thing but I still like clrMAMEpro more since I can easily audit ROMs and snaps and artwork and all that. It's been around a long time so I just like it better I suppose.
  16. Have you got it set to run in debug mode?
  17. Definate good idea since I've been known to walk away from an RPG for a while and come back, although temporarily I have been saving the state to avoid problems.
  18. I've said it before and I'll say it again: U da man! Thanks!
  19. Tom, ol buddy ol pal... Still no fix for this? Just curious since one of my favorite GameEx features is the attract mode. It really shows people what my cab is capable of. Not trying to be pushy or anything.
  20. Cowering's GoodTools has always been my salvation. It's the most widely used ROM renamer, and if you're command-line deficient, you can download GoodGUI. This program will decipher, name and even catagorize your ROM collection. Example: Super C becomes Super C (U) [!], or Super C (J) [o1], etc etc. Most screen shots are also in this format. Hope that helps!
  21. I think the daily digest is a great idea, just notification for every thread gets a little crazy on an active day. But I can live with this.
  22. You work too hard as it is my friend. Welcome back & hope your batteries got a nice full re-charge.
  23. I'm pretty sure you would have been automatically signed up to recieve notifications to all threads that have been started since you created your account wether you posted in them or not. Hope that helps!
  24. Try deleting your MESS ini and restarting MESS. When it goofs on me that's what I do. Hope that helps!
  25. I've just always used MAME, since MAME32 wasn't around when I first got into emulating cabs. No real reason, matter of fact I often recommend MAME32 to people over the MAME build. I just prefer the command line interface I suppose.
