  1. I would say you have a button stuck on your joypad/cabinet/computer and it's causing Attract Mode to exit. If you hit any button during Attract Mode it'll 'wake up' GameEx. Hope that helps!
  2. Definately gonna test that theory tonight. Thanks for the tips! Good information to have for the web site.
  3. Definately! Saved me alot of time in the long run.
  4. Like I said before... If you have that virus, it can mold itself into any exe on your computer and run itself. If your cab is on the same network as your master computer, it spreads to every shared folder it finds. If you can make changes in GameEx through a remote computer, there's an in for the virus. I'm assuming that's your scenario since you mentioned that you executed the program through another computer. Hope that helps!
  5. As you know, MAME changes titles and such with each release. Sizes and needed files also change. Fact is it could have checked out for MAME 0.101 and you're updated to 0.106 if you get what I'm saying. The MAME team makes so many changes with each release, it's impossible to say how many errors clrmamepro will find with each release. If all your games are running, back them up before you try updating. You might find after fixing the 'errors' it finds will add another load of games to your list. Hope that helps.
  6. Ahhh yes... Switching to a read-only is slippery. I noticed you can make the program run in full screen through the config file but it would change every time I closed and restarted. I never even thought about the obvious! Thanks in advance for the Gens .cfg. I'll give it a good home. Here's my settings for Kega in GameEx (I have it set to run under different menus for each system I'm emulating) [Emulator_8] Enabled=True STARTPAGENAME=SEGA Genesis Games TITLETEXT=Genesis StartPageLogo=gen ROMFilter=*.zip RomsInFolders=False RomPath=L:\00 - ROMS\SEGA Genesis\GenRen\USA SnapPath=L:\02 - GAME DATA\KEGA\GENESIS\snaps WorkingPath=C:\EMULATORS\KEGA MapKeys=True WaitBeforeKeys= SendKeys= ReplaceDash=True ReplaceUnder=True Capitals=False RemoveBrackets=True ShowDesktop=False Debug=False MAPFile= AlsoLaunch= Command=fusion.exe -fullscreen "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]" OLDatZip= TitlePath=L:\02 - GAME DATA\KEGA\GENESIS\titles BoxPath=L:\02 - GAME DATA\KEGA\GENESIS\boxes LaunchBefore= LaunchAfter= CartPath=L:\02 - GAME DATA\KEGA\GENESIS\carts configFile= ExcludedFiles= CustomBackground= PlayMusic= PCGame= DATABASE= DumbyValue= [Emulator_9] Enabled=True STARTPAGENAME=SEGA Master System Games TITLETEXT=Master System StartPageLogo=SMS ROMFilter=*.zip RomsInFolders=False RomPath=L:\00 - ROMS\SEGA Master System SnapPath=L:\02 - GAME DATA\KEGA\SMS\SNAPS WorkingPath=C:\EMULATORS\KEGA MapKeys=True WaitBeforeKeys= SendKeys= ReplaceDash=True ReplaceUnder=True Capitals=True RemoveBrackets=False ShowDesktop=False Debug=False MAPFile= AlsoLaunch= Command=fusion.exe -fullscreen "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]" OLDatZip= TitlePath=L:\02 - GAME DATA\KEGA\SMS\TITLES BoxPath=L:\02 - GAME DATA\KEGA\SMS\BOX LaunchBefore= LaunchAfter= CartPath= configFile= ExcludedFiles= CustomBackground= PlayMusic= PCGame= DATABASE= DumbyValue= [Emulator_10] Enabled=True STARTPAGENAME=SEGA Game Gear Games TITLETEXT=Game Gear StartPageLogo=gamegear ROMFilter=*.zip RomsInFolders=False RomPath=L:\00 - ROMS\SEGA Game Gear SnapPath=L:\02 - GAME DATA\KEGA\GAMEGEAR\snaps WorkingPath=C:\EMULATORS\KEGA MapKeys=True WaitBeforeKeys= SendKeys= ReplaceDash=True ReplaceUnder=True Capitals=True RemoveBrackets=False ShowDesktop=False Debug=False MAPFile= AlsoLaunch= Command=fusion.exe -fullscreen "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]" OLDatZip=C:\Program Files\OfflineList 0.7.2\datas\Official No-Intro Sega GameGear.zip TitlePath=L:\02 - GAME DATA\KEGA\GAMEGEAR\titles BoxPath=L:\02 - GAME DATA\KEGA\GAMEGEAR\boxes LaunchBefore= LaunchAfter= CartPath=L:\02 - GAME DATA\KEGA\GAMEGEAR\carts configFile= ExcludedFiles= CustomBackground= PlayMusic= PCGame= DATABASE= DumbyValue= As far as the Kega .ini goes... ;--------------------------------- ; Fusion Configuration File ;--------------------------------- ;--------------------------------- ; Graphics Compatibility Options ;--------------------------------- ForceCompatibleGFX=0 CompatibleGFXOpt=0 EnhancedGFXOpt=0 ForceFullScreen32=0 DebugFlags=0,0,0,0 ;--------------------------------- ; Sound Compatibility Options ;--------------------------------- ForceSWBuffer=1 ;--------------------------------- ; SG1000/SC3000/SMS/GG Specific ;--------------------------------- LastSMSROM=L:\00 - ROMS\SEGA Master System\Sega Logo V1.0e (SC-3000) [!].zip LastGGROM=L:\00 - ROMS\SEGA Game Gear\Baseball '91 (J).zip SMSUSABIOS= SMSJAPBIOS= SMSEURBIOS= GGBIOS= SxMFiles=L:\02 - GAME DATA\KEGA\SMS\SxM SMSStateFiles=L:\02 - GAME DATA\KEGA\SMS\State SMSPatchFiles=C:\EMULATORS\KEGA GGPatchFiles=C:\EMULATORS\KEGA SMSSpriteLimitDisable=0 YM2413Disable=0 SMSBIOSDisable=0 SMSBorderDisable=0 GameGearZoom=0 ;--------------------------------- ; MegaDrive/Genesis Specific ;--------------------------------- LastGenesisROM=L:\00 - ROMS\SEGA Genesis\GenRen\USA\3 Ninjas Kick Back (U) [!].zip SRMFiles=L:\02 - GAME DATA\KEGA\GENESIS\SRM StateFiles=L:\02 - GAME DATA\KEGA\GENESIS\State PatchFiles=L:\02 - GAME DATA\KEGA\GENESIS\Patch GenesisBIOS= AutoChecksums=0 GenBorderDisable=0 ;--------------------------------- ; Mega CD/Sega CD Specific ;--------------------------------- LastSegaCDImage=C:\EMULATORS\KEGA\KEGA Fusion.exe SCDUSABIOS=C:\SegaCDBIOS\us_scd1_9210.bin SCDJAPBIOS=C:\SegaCDBIOS\jp_mcd1_9111.bin SCDEURBIOS=C:\SegaCDBIOS\eu_mcd1_9210.bin DefaultDrive=X:X:X None CDReadAhead=4 CD+GMode=0 ForceASPI=0 BRMFiles=C:\EMULATORS\KEGA BRMPerGame=1 LEDEnabled=1 PerfectSync=0 ;--------------------------------- ; 32X Specific ;--------------------------------- 32XM68KBIOS=c:\32XBios\32X_G_BIOS.bin 32XMSH2BIOS=c:\32XBios\32X_M_BIOS.bin 32XSSH2BIOS=c:\32XBios\32X_S_BIOS.bin Disable32X=0 ;--------------------------------- ; Expert Options [DANGER! 7. Further Info On pe_tenga.a from Trend Micro: This virus spreads via network shares. It collects and generates a certain number of octets of a host machine's IP address, then scans the whole network for writable shared folders. It either appends or inserts its code into the .EXE files it finds in all of the infected system's folders. This file infector executes at every system startup if the file it infects has autostart capabilities. Upon execution, this virus downloads a malicious file from the Web site utenti.lycos.it/vx9. Trend Micro detects the said file as TROJ_TENGADL.A. This downloaded Trojan, in turn, downloads another malicious file, which Trend Micro detects as PE_TENGA.A-O. In people terms... It attached itself onto GameEx through your network. Better scan your PC.
  8. clrmamepro's not hard to use at all. Set up a profile by clicking CREATE... In the top field, browse to your MAME .exe Under Description, type MAME .106 or whatever you're using Under Emulator select MAME Click CREATE Select SETTINGS on the next window and input your file paths. Click OK. Select SCANNER on the main window. Check boxes on the left to scan whatever you want to scan for. If you want clrmamepro to fix errors it finds, click the boxes on the right. Select any other options you would like and click SCAN. If you didn't ask it to fix errors, feel free to look at the notes - it'll tell you what's wrong with each file. You should have it made from there. Any other questions feel free to ask.
  9. If he's executing programs from the LAN, couldn't he have piggy-backed it when he installed something? I'm no expert on this sort of thing, so I hope I don't sound stupid.
  10. I'd download the emulator right from the homepage to get the most recent version of Fusion. I'm thinking the versions on zophar.net are a little out of date. Note that I edited my previous post to help you understand why Gens wasn't working. As far as Kega goes, I got your back if you need any help. Let me know if you wanna see the working .cfg files for the emulator and for GameEx. Hope that helps.
  11. I don't know a whole lot about gens, but if you want an emulator for the genesis and the game gear, give Kega a try. It's been nothing but roses for me since I started using it, and the features are pretty much unbeatable. Not to mention it runs SegaCD and the Master System pretty well, so it's just one emulator to learn instead of 4. If you have been using Gens for a while and don't want to switch things up, I'll get back to you on how to get it working. I intend to install and test Gens tonite and I will post a config for you to use as a guide. Hope that helps! Download Kega Fusion here! .:EDIT:. I did some surfing looking for a command line option to open GENS in fullscreen and I found this in the forum: You'll have to do it manually each time you open a game... GameEx Config: ShowDesktop=True Then, you'll have to hit 'ALT+ENTER' on the keyboard (or set it up in SendKeys option of GameEx) Not to repeat myself, but Kega Fusion just plays nicer with GameEx.
  12. I was referring to GameEx and my 360 on the same network. No need to act like a 3rd grader dude. Sorry if I offended you in any way... I was just trying to be helpful. There's a thousand people here who love abd use GameEx, and I apologize if it doesn't suit your needs. There's no reason for you to talk about what GameEx isn't, since it's great for what it is. PS - Ignorance = bliss. Just for the record.
  13. Consider it done. What you say is true, yes... but we live in a society where pretty pictures and simple explanations are easier for people to follow. I intend to implement a by-system walkthrough for as many emulators as I can, and of course there will be a section of the page with a form to fill out and email so I can add new configs all the time. The layout will be very user friendly and even the noobiest of noobs will be able to get GameEx up and running flawlessly in a matter of hours. If anyone has any other suggestions, I'd love to hear them. .:EDIT:. The beast is already up and running (well, the index page is anyhow... And the layout is done. Also got the GameEx step by step started and added links to download each item - ie flyers, icons, snaps, cabinet art, etc. I'll work like hell to get it going at full rip just as soon as I can. Anyone who wants to keep up on the progress can check it out here: The GameEx ConfigHQ Thanks again for a truly awesome front-end... And something to keep me busy.
  14. I have my own web space and all, just thought maybe you'd like to add a referrer to make it easier to find (like http:\\configs.gameex.com or what have you) and a link from your links page... Maybe a nice clean .gif of your logo for the front page or whatnot. As far as contributions from the community go, I was looking more toward some of the regulars that regularly diagnose emulator problems. I'd much rather see you spending time on GameEx than something we can handle on our own. I'll see if I can't get something up and going right now. If anyone has any config files for emulators that are less popular and wants to contribute to an emulator-specific FAQ (like Gens or ePSXe for example) let me know.
  15. I was thinking about throwing together a website that hosts Config files for commonly used emulators, instructions on setting them up in GameEx and a list of commands for each F key once the EMU is running. How willing would the community be to help with such a project? this might deter alot of the emulator setup questions we answer all the time (like using quotation marks, editing the Database, etc) What do ya think?
  16. If you have a client that handles torrents, you shouldn't have to BUY them, per se. I believe Tom has a link to EmuMovies under the Links section of his website. If you got HiSpeed Internet, grab a client (like BitComet or Bit Lord) and download the packs yourself. Of course, you can always create your own too.
  17. Post your GameEx config file and I'll have a look-see. I'm sure we'll get i figured out. The first couple emulators are the hardest to set up, but once you get that rollin you'll be a pro! You'll find yourself adding emulators you may never even play. As they say, gotta crawl before you walk.
  18. Add to that the fact that I have had nothing but trouble with my network that just happens to have an XBOX 360 on it, I got a MAME cab that runs GameEx better than any other front end I've come acrossed. Your XBOX 360 does a great job of being an XBOX 360. Isn't that good enough? For your MAME cab needs (especially if you want it to double as a jukebox which is pretty flippin' awesome) there's no better Front End anywhere! And believe me... I've tried them all.
  19. Pointing it at a specific file (use the browse feature to ensure accurate path/filename) and selecting 'yes' in the Play Ambiance field of the Audio Settings section of your GameEx Configuration Editor should be all you need to do... Mine works just fine as far as I know, other than the fact that I'm only using one ambiance file we're both using the same version so... Hope that helps.
  20. This seems to be the most frequently asked EMU question in GameEx history. COMMAD LINE: zsnesw.exe "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]" I can't begin to tell you how important it is to use the quotation marks in the command line config. So just make sure you do that for each and every emulator you set up.
  21. I don't know much about HTPCs, but I do know something about the xbox 360 however... I have had no sucess running the xbox 360 on the same network as my cab for some reason or another. Is there some possible way that the xbox 360 is the problem? You try running the program without your xbox 360 on the extender? That's the only way my cab and my xbox play nice together. Just a thought.

    NOTHIN' BUT NET

I'm sure you don't HAVE to, but you should anyways.
  23. The version you just put out seems to have fixed the error... Or at least the manual donload of the program did the trick. Thanks again!
  24. Not for me... Can't use it at all.
  25. After my auto update to 6.20 today, I'm usable to start up GameEx for some reason. Can anyone help me get my favorite front end back up and running? Thanks. Application has generated an exception that could not be handled. Process id=0x5ac (1452), Thread id=0xc18 (3096)
