  1. I've been workin my ass off on it actually! If you want some help, I'd be glad to help you with setup questions while the site is being built. I'm pretty much in the know as far as emulators go. Just let me know. Hope that helps! PS - That goes for anyone who has Emulator setup issues.
  2. I have 200+ N64 ROMs and currently use the database. Same with NES (10000+ ROMs) and SNES (over 15000 ROMs) - I have all mine Good Merged though so that may be a variable - but when I had my ROMs in .zip files I didn't have a problem then either... I wonder if your error isn't being caused by your cart scan directory? Just a thought. Hope that helps.
  3. I'm 99% certain there's an option to disable the radio from playing in GameEx configuration. Make sure you have the playlist option disabled as well. .:EDIT:. It's the 3rd option down in the 'Audio' section - 'Play Music / Radio On Startup' Hope that helps!
  4. Still needs some help... The toolbar won't display properly for me. Also, I had to go and get the font you used in the theme. It's a good theme, just gonna need some more work IMO. Hope that helps!
  5. I set my controller up using ZincGUI.exe and then pointed GameEx at the new configuration via the command line. Hope that helps.
  6. I got no problem with the sub-directories being deleted. I played 5 or 6 games to test the GoodMerge support and when I closed GameEx they were sitting in the folder GameEx made (all vesrions of the 6 games I tested) uncompressed. If GameEx is supposed to clean out it's 'temp folder' it's not doing it.
  7. GameExtender is the portion of GameEx that publishes what you're playing to the website. Look at the Live! link on the GameEx website and you'll see what I'm talking about. Hope that helps!
  8. Can GameEx delete the files after it extracts them? Like have a command where GameEx deletes the Unzipped7z folder upon exit? That would be helpful. Thanks!
  9. Not exatly sure - I think it may be some sort of resolution fix for games that have FMV. It's helped me through some tough spots in Breath of Fire 4. Hope that helps!
  10. First: try adding -r to the command line before you launch Resident Evil. Not sure if that will help, but I don't have that ROM or disc so I can't test it. However, that option makes it possible for me to run some games that wouldn't run otherwise. Second: Yes, I have been using both ePSXe and pSX in GameEx since I started using GameEx. I prefer to use pSX wherever possible and only have ePSXe installed for back-up (like for playing Suikoden II and a handful of other FMV games that won't run in pSX). I haven't had a problem launching any games in pSX (unless of course they don't work). If you're just starting out with it I'd be more than happy to help you get it up and running. By the way... I rip my games to my HD and compress them with the .cdz tool if I'm using GameEx. If I'm playing directly from the disc itself, I use pSX directly (since I don't know how to set it up to run as 1 game... This is also why I am not able to use Chankast although I really want to!) Hope that helps. .:EDIT:. I noticed an error in your post on the pSX forum: My config looks like this: COMMAND LINE: psxfin.exe -f -r "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]" As he mentioned you need the quotes inserted. I also keep the -r fix in all the time since it doesn't affect games that work.
  11. You know, of course, that some games just don't work? There is a compatability section in the psx forum. Check there first. You can also see the tested list here. If your game is supposed to be working but isn't, I'll need a bit more info on your end. Thanks.
  12. ~!Bump! Help a brother out please? :-S .:EDIT:. Never mind the bump. Thanks for the update / GoodMerge fix! Yet again, Tom is the undisputed master of the universe! Thanks!
  13. Heya Tom. Definately a bug (or something shady going on) with GoodMerge. Help! My ROMs are in a state of not-working-nes! Here's what happens: I select a ROM (let's use 10 Yard Fight as an example) On the selection screen, I can see all the ROM sets. I select one and play it - works just great. After playing, I hit escape to return to the game screen - the ROM sets are no longer listed there. The Directories are all there, but it's like there are no ROMs in them. Bummer. I select other ROM sets, they're gone. Just the selection screen with no links to anything playable. Bummerx2. I restart GameEx, head back to the ROM list - STILL nothing selectable! (Not even in 10 yard fight mind you! Bummer x3!) I delete the 'unzipped7z' folder GameEx puts in my ROM directory and... Boom! I can select a game! But, yet again, the first game directory I look at will be my last, since you only have one chance to click a game before everything disappears. Something's definately amiss here. Hopefully you can fix that really soon since I spent all week GoodMerging my ROMs (the benefit is too great not to use GoodMerge! It only makes sense!) And, since you're (hopefully) fixing that problem... Can you remove the alphabetizing option for GoodMerge ROMs? The front end lists the ROMs in a certain way (for me, it's USA, England, English) and alphabetizing renders that option useless although it's quite handy. Thanks for all your help, and I hope I didn't force you to work too hard.
  14. .:EDIT:. I think I just set it up wrong initially. Nevermind.
  15. So... like what kinda games are we talking about here? MAME? Console? I'm just curious is all.
  16. You have got to be the GameEx Theme Community's MVP. Another excellent theme! Keep on keepin' on!
  17. Although I'm still up to my ears in this web site, I've been tweaking some existing database files, so I can start laying the foundation for that as well. If any one would like to contribute, feel free to help a dude out. Every little touch makes GameEx that much better. BTW: I've already started working on a GameBoy Advance mdb, so if anyone would like to contribute to that I'd appreciate it equally. We should start a thread and post info for games and I'd be more than happy to form it into .mdb format. What do ya say, community? Let's give something back!
  18. Fair enough... But if someone were to completely rewrite an UnOfficial C64 mdb (using only Good Name info and no GB64 data whatsoever) would you be willing to add that? I'd be more than happy to start working on that if it would solve the problem... Otherwise I could post a link and you wouldn't have to see what the 'other hand' is doing... Just a thought as I was going to add a C64 DB to mine anyways.
  19. Well, if they wanna be pricks about it (or at least one guy does...) who's to stop someone from downloading and changing things around ever so slightly and recompiling the database as their own? Wouldn't it become that person's then anyway? In which case, would you not be able to distribute it freely? I'm not sure that'd be OK, except I guess I don't understand how someone can 'own' raw information about games they dont legally 'own' or possess any rights to anyway... As you stated... You just want the db info. Not the program they have created to read it...
  20. It's not bad, but I have some suggestions since you're willing to learn... I personally don't mind giving an author credit, but with all the time and money I've spent refurbing my X-Men cabinet into a MAME cabinet, not to mention the software and equipment I've had to buy, I'm not real keen on website addresses on my themes. I don't mind a popup in the 'about' box or a credit on the 'loading' screen, but it looks less professional to me this way. Also, and I see you've already gotten ready for this... V2 themes are what's in nowadays. And, last but not least... A little .avi in the background is always a nice touch. As for instructions on the theme editor, I would think the easiest way to learn would be to start by editing a theme that's already been made and make the appropriate changes. I'm sure once you iron out the kinks, night would be more than happy to host this on his GameEx theme site. Hope that's helpful.
  21. We'd like to help ya, but you'll have to at least post your config file before we know what's wrong.
  22. OK. I got it. First issue - you shouldn't have to send the ESC key to hide the GUI. In your vba.ini file you can make the appropriate change. Open vba.ini with a text editor (such as word pad) and locate the following line: (it's like the 56th line from the top) autoHideMenu=0 Change that value to this: autoHideMenu=1 That will get you rolling without the GUI, but the mouse will still be on screen. Just slide it off screen and you're golden. Obviously, if I forgot to mention it, map keys for GameEx to use ESC again, and remove the SendKeys option from both your GameBoy Advance and GameBoy Color / Mono configurations. You can also change 'Show Desktop' to 'No'
  23. Don't quote me on this, but I thought Tom said 1.0 was no longer required, but you need to have 1.1 installed (although GameEx doesn't use it) So yeah - you need to have 1.1 installed for GameEx to work... As far as I know.
  24. Yes, Amos is right. Also, have you tried photoshop to set the image size properly so it doesn't goof your .ink up? Just a suggestion.
  25. Can you post your GameEx config for me to have a look at?
