  1. Sorry I missed out! Happy belated bday!
  2. You can use the mapper in GameEx to do the key mapping if you're a registered user
  3. Also do you keep your tables in the ROMs folder? That should be reserved from VPinMAME ROMs not tables. If you do, your working path needs to be that folder instead of the Tables folder, and if not you should put your tables folder in the root VP folder to save some confusion. Finally, throw a ../ before the command line and try it.
  4. My command line runs in the tables dorectory like this: Working Path: C:\PinMAME\Tables Command line is: ..\vpinball.exe -play -"[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" You'll have to alter yours based on this. My vpinball exe is also not vpinball908.exe but yours might be? I also use Tom's VP Loader in the Also Launch field to skip the first screens that ask if I can legally play this table.
  5. And useful for music files and videos as well!

    Bezels revisited

That is generated based on the Attract Mode feature. If you turn that off, you turn off Bezel.png in the GameEx config. Unless you're using the actual bezels on a per game basis, I don't think you can disable that particular thing.
  7. Also the instructions here are a little dated. You'll need to get VP9 if you don't have it already. Here's a good place to get you started: http://www.pinballnirvana.com/

    Bezels revisited

Under advanced MAME settings in GameEx advanced config, you need to add the bezels option into the command line. I don't know the exact switch off hand, but I think it's -bezel. Should be in the MAME readme in the doc folder. If you have generated an ini for MAME, the option should be close to the bottom. Make sure you also add the file path in if its not the default artwork folder. Keep the GameEx bezel option off (but it sounds like you already did this).

    (Set xx)

I think that set 1 is the parent set and all other sets are clones in many cases. The functionality probably makes no difference, just the same game on a different board. Unless you set to use no clones unless better, GameEx usually bases its decision on parent ROM sets.
  10. Is there even an option for the file path in MAME advanced settings? I didn't even check. I assume that would also be for Daphne, Model2, and ZiNc since they're mapped out as MAME files...
  11. Updates only update the core files. You shouldn't need to worry about a thing. Just do the Auto Update if you like, and it will overwrite the needed files and leave your configs alone. If you do an offline install, and you have customized your text, make sure you select English (Custom) from the installer. The registry key will remain in place, so no worries there either. I hope that covers everything. If you have questions on how anything works, just ask.
  12. I have removed the other thread because this is indeed a feature request. This is currently not possible in GameEx.
  13. It's never happened to me...
  14. For me I just disable exiting to Windows unless they use the shutdown menu. Most people don't know enough to do that accidentally anyways.
  15. I should clarify... I meant I didn't want to lose the ability to view them in GameEx. I'm gonna go ahead and give it a try. Hopefully it'll be gravy, and not the wavy kind! Heh! .:EDIT:. Hey now! It works! I had to change the program folder from gs9.00 to gs and the rest is great (and edited the shortcuts appropriately also). This PDF comes up just as it should for the game in question. Looks like we're in business here. I don't think it edits the registry at all (maybe I'm wrong)... If I upload a ZIP file anyone willing to extract it and see if it works on their machine?
  16. I did notice the version GameEx uses is quite outdated anyways. On one hand I want to try and install it, and on the other hand I don't want to lose my manuals. Decisions decisions (which are better left to Tom! Hahaha!) Well keep me in the loop.
  17. Yes Frequency... I also noticed this new version passes -dSAFER as a default option. I bet it really is an image rendering issue after all. Excellent work my friend. If you want to install this yourself, can you just overwrite the executable GameEx uses? If so, where is it located?
  18. I'm doing some work on my cab so I'll test it for you right now and report back. .:EDIT:. Well for me, it just loads infinitely. It doesn't jump back to the menu, or crash GameEx... It just basically loads for all eternity. Let me try something right quick... .:EDIT #2:. I opened it and re-saved it in Adobe Acrobat, just to eliminate the possibility of a bad file. While the same thing happened again (infinite loading process), a window popped up in the background this time. Apparently, while loading this file, gswin32c.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. Awesome to know that this has something to do with the error, because it popped up immediately after I tried to view the file, and when I managed to escape GameEx, it closed itself. Not sure if this is helpful or not... .:EDIT #3:. Well okay... The problem seems to be with the file and not the reader. There's something in there that the reader doesn't like... I tried stripping all the hidden text comments and metadata out of the file hoping it would help. Unfortunately it still crashes GhostScript, so I don't know what to do about it other than hope that the manual viewer authors will update to fix it. I literally have tried everything... I'm willing to bet the person who authored the PDF in QuarkXPress is passing something that GhostScript doesn't like, and for whatever reason I can't seem to take it out of the file. There is a command line switch from what I can gather on the internet -dSAFER that supposedly bypasses image rendering issues... Maybe that will work here? I just don't know. I did try to re-render the PDF but I keep getting "Invalid ICC Profile" errors when trying to load it up in Photoshop. Long story short is that the origin file is fubared somehow.
  19. Thanks for another fine update Tom!
  20. The man's bezel bananas! These are nice Draco! You using GIMP or Photoshop for your creations?

    MAME In Menus

For the first problem, I update the list and when it asks again a second time I just hit backspace and it doesn't ask me again until I change the MAME executable. Maybe you need to turn verify roms on?
  22. You can disable ESC from exiting GameEx and use the shutdown menu instead if you're just looking to hide Windows entirely. I use this feature so I can keep users from even being aware that Windows powers my machine. Don't know if that's the answer you were searching for, but it's easier than writing a script of any kind.
  23. I never used dummy files before, I just installed the games without GameEx and used a MAP file to show the titles I wanted. Of course, I haven't set up ScummVM since I re-did my cab setup, so I may not know what I'm talking about... But I don't recall using dummy files for that emulator in the past. *puzzled* I'm no stranger to MAP files though, since I use one for my SEGA CD emulator too.
  24. @Tom: his email is dead. It comes back as undeliverable.
  25. You shouldn't have to do anything other than change the dipswitch setting and reset the game as far as I know. I set games to free play that way all the time, and I've always done it that way and it seems to work for me.
