  1. My question for all is this - if it is possible to use an external program to rotate the display, why would you need to even mess with configuring each game or multiple mame.ini files, etc.? Seems like things are getting more complex than they may need to be. So long as you are able to map a few extra buttons to the keyboard comands of the program to rotate the display as needed - problem solved!
  2. I am not sure about using CFG Magician to flip the display. I believe it may be useful so far as mapping your custom controls. Tempest is the creator so he would be a good one to tap so far as what it can and can't do. There is a program called iRotate that you could install and then possibly map buttons to the keyboard commands (Ctrl-Alt-Up to flip 180 deg, Ctrl-Alt-Left to flip 90 deg to the left, Ctrl-Alt-Right to flip 90 deg to the right) - I have seen in several emu forums where users have used this in their cabs.
  3. I don't know that it can be setup in GameEx, however, since screen rotation is possbile in XP and Vista/7 my guess is that there is likely a utility that can be leveraged to performe the same task of rotating/flipping screen orientation.
  4. Custom Menus are the way to go if you prefer to go outside of the normal layouts, but I would definitely recommend getting all setup and working well first in the canned layouts before venturing off to custom menus.
  5. I would recommend against changing the names of the ROMS as they generally follow a standard for recognition within MAME. To modify how GameEx displays your ROMS and edit you menu choices, you can do this in the Advanced Configuration under Advanced MAME (for displaying and filtering ROMS) and Enable/Disable Features (to disable display of Configuration, etc.). Keep in mind that if you modify any of the settings for ROMS under Advanced MAME you may need to update your list again depending on the settings you change.
  6. You may want to look at the Atari 5200 and 7800 Console DBs and modify as needed (Renaming, of course, for the Atari 8-bit) for those programs that are not compilation disks as thbe 5200+ was basically the 400/800/800XL without the keyboard and external drives. You will find many titles for individual games to be the same (ex: Ballblazer, Rescue on Fractilus - also known as Behind Jaggi Lines). You may need to modify the names in the DB to match the 8-bit files, but it may save you considerable time with setting up the descriptions.
  7. Thanks for the heads up, Krakerman!
  8. Not sure about FLV (Flash video) support. If you have the paths mapped correctly in GameEx and Mame, try clicking on Change View to see if it displays your snaps in one of the views.
  9. I believe Gemulator and Atari++ are supported. Gemulator emulates Atari 8-bit, ST, and MAC. Atari ++ the 8-bits. Not sure of the command lines though as I have not set any up as of yet.
  10. I might add that none of the paths have been modified from the initial install of GameEx. Once you have an installed emulator, you have to tell GameEx where to find its ROMs, Snaps, etc. You may have MAME running OK inside of MAME, but as you can see from the paths that display "does not exist" or "no files found" that you have not performed any configuration of GameEx to point to where the files are. As with any frontend, you must tell it where to look if the files are not in the default location that it is looking. You may wish to review the documentation for setup, etc. located here first. If you need some help along the way, we are here for you. Welcome!
  11. Thanks, Tom! Working great so far!
  12. I believe there were some changes made a few releases ago that will allow for different views for each emulator. If you click on Change View on the Menu within each, you can cycle through the various view options until you get the view you want (List, Snap, Video, etc.). The view you select should remain until you change it again.
  13. "Productive" wasn't what my dad called me when stepping on the erector set pieces in the dark early AM after Christmas.. Let's just say I was a little confused and thought my name was "GD-It" for a few days after...
  14. Can both of you provide copies of your GameEx log files?
  15. I liked the Erector Sets, too. Cut myself many times on those little metal girders and strips.
  16. I came across this great series of PC Game Covers in a DVD type sleeve "Jeno Cyber" that would make for some good custom logos for those of you running PC games through GameEx on your PC or cab.
  17. I think, there is plenty of insanity to spread around. This thread will never go full circle, but it is making a helleva death spiral into a barrel of monkeys!
  18. Looks like ya already did! About the ninja thing.. was in kind of a "What Would Ricky Bobby Say?" frame of mind at the moment. So, does anyone wanna come to Jax to help me oil change and tune up the ol' John Deere lawn tractor?
  19. Thanks! It is taking me longer in part because I am also creating extras that accomodate my use of Custom Menus which require their own logos. WIll also need to go through and clean up a few things before submitting. I had been asked if I would make 800x600 and 1024x768 screens. Due to time, energy, etc. that will not be the case this go around. I would like to get to a point where I am playing more rather than creating and modding the theme!
  20. I would check the ngemu fourm first as this the most recent is in a series of Beta releases and there have been noted some speedups in some areas but slow downs on others, especially with older graphics adapters. Might want to hold back on adding it until official and stable.
  21. Tempest - that's probably a good thing. I'm outta control! I'm like a ninja on crack! Ya never know what I might say and it could happen without warning!
  22. I wouldn't disable Avast (also, just because you disable it it may still be "active" in service. Does Avast have program exception settings or rules? )
  23. I will if I can see ya - see no games, too.
  24. Are you using any security products (Norton or Macafee) or any anti-spyware stuff (Spybot, etc.)? If any of the first you may need to setup rules for the application to allow and put in specific ports. SOme users have reported issues with Spybot as well.
  25. I am online for a little bit TNMT Turtles in Time.
