  1. Can someone tell me where the X files are cached in GameEx? baddudes - Missing marquee and bezel - both original and Gozer file show up with transparent panels in GameEx. Likely original file is cached. tetris - Gozer file has Original marquee and better display - attempted to load new file but old file cached somewhere. Thanks!
  2. I noticed that on conversion to X files from Sketchup that any translucent glass becomes opaque on conversion. In those cases, I have loaded the file into Sketchup, deleted the translucent glass. When the conversion completes, the screen and bezels now show. Here are the missing Astro Blaster and Simpsons cab files: astrob.7z simpsons.7z
  3. List corrected - did not like paste from Excel
  4. I agree that they are pretty good, especially in Sketchup, yet they seem to suffer some in the conversion process. Here are my recommendations for substitution in the main pack: altbeast - Blank marquee, wood cabinet arabian - Inverted right-side art arkanoid - One side black, other wood armora - Missing front/back, inverted side art assault - Blank marquee asteroid - Marquee reversed astrob - Missing X file from Gozer conversion baddudes - Missing marquee and bezel simpsons - Missing X file from Gozer conversion taxidrvr - Remove - displays pinball machine tetris - Gozer file has Original marquee and better display These are the few instances where I found that the Gozer file conversions were superior to those originally provided in the pack HK initially put together. I did some comparisons Gozer's files vs HK's files where there were noticeable defects (i.e. inverted artwork, missing panels, etc.) and found that, in most cases, they possessed the same defects upon conversion to X files. This leads me to believe that he was either the original creator of some of the files or collected them from elsewhere. Not that it should matter as it has helped to fill in some much needed holes in the collection.
  5. I am going through my MAME list now to identify those that display incorrectly from the originals (for example, Armor Attack front and back faces are missing and the cabinet side art is on the inside instead of outside. This is not to take away from the hard work that HK put into the initial load. I will test with substitutions from the Gozer Cabs and report back on which ones need to be changed out from the originals.
  6. I find that the 3D Rad tends to render the final .x file darker than zybils.
  7. HK - what are some of the 3-D modeling programs you recommend for converting logos, etc.?
  8. I gave 4 cents so far ... how's that for "change" you can believe in? I am sure we will have enough to warrant pinning at some point. We have quite a few that are motivated in learning about Sketchup, .x conversions, etc.
  9. Since we have the sub-forums now, pinning this would work since it is one of the projects that goes hand-in-hand with the work HK and Tom have done to add the 3-D models functionality to GameEx. Again, my two cents as usual..
  10. Tom - While this topic would likely fit under one of the other threads, I think that it has sufficient uniqueness & focus to warrant being pinned so that we do not lose this in the normal forum posts. The work that HK has done is fantastic to get this going and we could probably merge the .X files thread into this one as there are some good contributions in that thread as well. Just my two cents... Mike
  11. Glad to have been able to help. I hope that you are able to use the images as some are very good. I am sure as more explore the 3D Warehouse and other stores that we will find some more 3D treasures!
  12. Aye, Captain - fire at Will!
  13. I have completed the list revisions, taking out duplicates, pinball machines, cab mockups, bill changer, etc. I have also removed any items not in the MAWS 0139U3 ROMs list. Gozer-vs-MAWS.txt maws0139u3.txt
  14. OK, I have uploaded a more complete list (again, open in Excel tab delimited) for the Gozer vs MAWS list. I have also included a copy of the MAWS (MAME) 0139.u3 list. I am sure that I could probably open every skp file I don't have a mame name listed (and I may do so later if I have time). If someone would like to take it from here, that is fine as well. I am currently going through those that I identified and cleaning up the list a bit, as some are just cab mock-ups and others are not cabs altogether. Additionally, where there is apparent duplication, I am selecting what I feel to be the best looking cabs (there isn't much but in a few places there are wood vs painted cabs where the painted cabs look more authentic). I will upload the completed list shortly.
  15. OK, I got to the start of G - there are quite a few blanks as the name did not easily match the list on MAWS and some I know are variants of the same game. Open in Excel as tab delimited. Gozer-vs-MAWS.txt
  16. I am working on A-D right now (what I can before turning in for the night). If someone would like to pick up after that...
  17. I liked it when he was the antagonist in DK Jr. Just appeals to my dark side, I guess.
  18. I converted the Star Wars Cockpit using the plugin HK provided. I'm not too sure how to correct as one of the panels is missing and other details inside the cockpit did not make the conversion correctly. I have provided a copy of my attempt along with the original Sketchup which looks great in the mviewer. swcockpit.zip
  19. The 3-D Warehouse Arcade Cabs collection by Gozer contains some excellent work as well!
  20. I can't claim to be "grown up." I like my "toys" too much to do so! One day I hope to add an arcade machine to my home. I enjoy playing on the PC and also my Xbox (Original and 360), and would probably enjoy an HTPC setup on the big screen. There is just no substitute for mashin' buttons and slammin' the joystick around on a game cab. Now if I could just get the kids to move out *again* before I am forced to eat cat food on an SS income...
  21. Mine are grown-up, too. Or at least they are at an age where they are held legally accountable for their actions.. grown up, maturity, well, that's a whole different thing, eh?
  22. Before upgrading to Win 7 Pro 64-bit, I was running GameEx quite well on Vista Home 32-bit. Are you getting a disclaimer/warning screen before running the bad ROM? I have had GameEx and MAME both choke on bad ROMs before. Not much you can do other than not play them.
  23. Rock legends KISS will be broadcasting a LIVE webcast of their final stop from the 2010 â??Hottest Show on Earthâ? tour at the KROQ Epicenter Twenty Ten Festival on Saturday, September 25th at 8:30PM PT / 11:30PM ET here on ustream. Also will be available for those on Facebook who play the Nightclub City game.
  24. I always thought you put the "fReAk" in fRequEnCy! Now I know for sure!
