  1. I would also recommend upgrading to 11.64 as it addresses some video issues and may be a little less resource intensive. I do have a question - are you using an onboard graphics adapter? Below are the minimum recommended system requirements: - Pentium 3 800Mhz CPU (or equivalent) - OK - DirectX(DirectDraw) Compatible Video card, capable of 16 bit colour at 640X480. [Your video card does not normally need to be too special unless using videos or DVD, although older motherboard onboard video is not recommended] - Uncertain, but based upon 466 MB RAM being reported for the OS, likely 512MB shared with onboard video. - DirectSound Compatible Sound Card. - OK - 256MB Ram - OK - Windows 2000 (SP4), XP (SP2), MCE, Vista, Windows 7 - Version 5.1.2600 is XP SP1 - Recommend updating to at least SP2, although SP3 is the latest and last XP service pack. - 250MB Free hard drive space - OK - Microsoft .net framework 2 service pack 1 - Uncertain as only displaying as .net Framework 2.0 - Microsoft Direct X 9.0 - Uncertain - Windows Media Player 9 or above - OK If you are running oboard video, would recommend an AGP or PCI video card with a minimum of 256 MB (512+MB optimal) RAM installed on the adapter and disabling the onboard video (instructions are usually specific to the BIOS or manufacturer). Also, if you can confirm the items showing as uncertain.
  2. R-DUB - thanks for the feedback! Hopefully this will resolve Gizmo's lag issues to the trackball!
  3. Awesome update - almost a new build! Can't wait to get home to try it out! Thanks, Tom!
  4. Huh? When you compile you use the diff files for the interim builds for the version. Not sure I am following you. Anyways, the 0.142 release should be out in a week or two so it won't matter - just gonna download that instead of compiling for the u builds and compile the hi score fix accordingly to rid the nag screens and enable hi score support.
  5. hmmm... a little perplexing to say the least. What kind of PC/motherboard are you using for your build? Does it have an onboard (built-in) graphics adapter? One of our other members was having an issue with an older PC that had a built-in GPU that was not thoroughly disabled. Not quite the problems you are having but would be curious none-the-less to find out.
  6. I haven't compiled the latest 141u4 build but have found that the UI seems to be less problematic as of late than the cmd line MAME builds. Not sure why unless there is something in the GUI that does a better job of handling the bezels than vanilla.
  7. Of course, you could possibly setup Adobe Reader as an external app so that you can use its zoom features if need be.
  8. One other question - are you using an arcade monitor? Again, not familiar with using the ArcadgeVGA adapter, so taking my best stabs at a possible solution. There are quite a few that use this adapter and it seems that there is often issues with the drivers that conflict with the performance when used within GameEX, but seem to be a non-issue with other video adapters and resolutions or an updated driver.
  9. Mesk: Quick question for ya - did you re-run update list in GameEx after you compiled the latest interim update?
  10. The only other thing I know to try is setting the resolution higher to 800 x 600 and D3D enable and see what happens there. I am not experienced with ArcadeVGA but have seen where issues with some users have cleared up some by increasing the screen size from 640 x 480 to 800 x 600.
  11. My wife is supportive and once the adult kids move out and we are "empty nesters" again I am sure she will be more willing for me to build an arcade machine of my own. Right now we are stacked like cord wood with people, pets, and furniture. Your wife needs to lighten up a bit - you aren't bar hopping, out gambling, etc. You are at home with your hobby with your family. That has to count for something.
  12. Looks great! To polish it off would recommend the side-art when you can afford it (it's ain't cheap unless you can cut a good deal with a local printer). Also, grab a spray can of Rustoleum semi-gloss black and paint the mailbox to fit in with the rest of the cab. I am still jealous and I still hate you!
  13. OK, the first thing I noticed in your mame.ini is that you are using ddraw - Direct Draw instead of d3d - Direct3D. GameEx is loading Direct3D. I wonder if this may be contributing to some of the apparent lag between your actions and the response on the screen. Can you try changing your settings in MAME to utilize D3D and report back with the results? If you should error, please provide a new copy of the log file. I also noted that you are using an ArcadeVGA card. Can you tell us what model and if you are running the latest XP drivers? If not using the latest driver for your graphics adapter, try upgrading. Again, let us know the results.
  14. A good place to start would be to upload a copy of your log.txt file and gameex.ini (you will need to save the gameex.ini file as a text file before uploading it to the forum). Your mame.ini file (again, saved as a text file) may also be useful.
  15. I know it could be done back in the good ol' DOS days when you could directly assign the IRQs to the cards and, if the program supported redirect from system default to that card at that address, it was no issue at all.
  16. Damn, better get things cleaned up - forgot about the black lights!
  17. I have to agree with bkenobi about the MS services. What you may want to do is, instead of stopping or disabling them, you can set it to delayed start to see if that makes a difference. Regardless be sure to understand what they actually do before making any changes on them or their dependencies. As for Bootskin, not sure I can help you there. My guess is that it will not matter.
  18. Would explain the player 2 button is sticking... just sayin..
  19. You can locate the log file under gameex\log\log.txt - just upload to your reply in the forum.
  20. 8BitMonk - Glad you got things going in the right direction! Hopefully Jombee and a few of others may be able to step in and help with the individual emulator settings to get things tweaked.
  21. Looks spiff - good job, Tom!
  22. Muy Beuno - Gracias! Will have to jazz up the stock CP as well to match!
  23. Much appreciated!
  24. Once again I am in awe at the great work! Do you have a PSD of these controller layouts you have created? Eventually I will be going to the 360 for PC game pads and these are perfect!
  25. All sites appear to be up and running and 11.63 installed again, but this time without looping. Also Gamer Cards working again as well. Thanks for the quick fix, Tom!
