  1. Thats cool that you ordered one. Where did you buy it from? I saw prices anywhere from US $34.95 to US $48.50. Let us know how well it works out. And for me, I'm curious about the LED light bars and if you have to have them on all the time or not.
  2. In my earlier post about the GunCon... this is the original/wired GunCon. It has 2 wires, one going to the playstation, and one going to the tv. The TV wire is your standard RF-Video (yellow) cable. I connected it both ways, from the computer, to the guncon, to the video, to the tv, and the other way, from the tv, to the guncon, to the video, to the computer. Neither worked. Looking around.. that LCD Topgun looks like it does everything. Dont really like the bars you have to mount.. especially if they're always lit up when not in use. I'll have to see if they are or not.. If not I'll probably buy one.
  3. Just heads up... A Playstation controller adaptor connected to a Namco GunCon lightgun DOES NOT WORK. The standard controllers work fine, but the lightguns, steering wheels, mice, etc all seem to have problems.
  4. It takes time, but what I did was export/import all my emulators. I think thats what you're looking for. It's fairly easy, just time consuming. Going through the Configurator, each emulator now has the option to EXPORT the settings to an ini file you save somewhere. Then after you reinstall GameEx someplace else, just IMPORT the saved ini file and you're good to go. You may have to recheck the settings though incase the game locations changed (different folders for the game, art, etc). I don't know how far back this option exists, but it's been a while. You may have a recent enough version that has this. If not, you may just have to try what Michael suggests. The worse that could happen is that it won't work. Just don't delete/remove your original folder until you know for sure it works.

[removed] Woah a little bit TOO much info? Uh Tom? You might have to cancel this little interesting new technology... for kiddie sake. Thanks for posting this hansolo77, I'll send the link to Tom's e-mail - Headkaze
  6. Since the problem is associated with a sound file in one of the themes.. try updating without the option checked to download the themes. Once everything is installed, then go back to the website and try to download and manually install the themes. There could be a problem in the transfer when going through the automatic downloader.
  7. I just finished removing the specified bezel folder and reinstalled GameEX. It still doesn't work when I have bezels enabled in the configuration.
  8. If MAME+ does support bezels, I don't use them. I'm just trying to get the default bezel that comes with GameEx to work.
  9. Ok so I decided I'd try an see if I could get this plugin to work. I did, and it works great. However, my off topic question is related to the LCD Smartie program itself. I'm asking here because I can't seem to register on their forums (not getting the authorization email). Does anybody use this program and the GameEx plugin? I'd like to use it, but since I use Media Center too, I prefer to use the software that came with LCD. It provides a much more robust set of features for MCE that smartie doesn't. If anybody out there uses the Soundgraph IMON VFD, along with MCE, and the LCD Smartie program with GameEx pluggin, could you let me know how you worked out getting everything to work together? Thanks!
  10. OK Dokie... now everybody else knows why too.
  11. I'm using 106u1. I use just mamep.exe for the gameex command, and mamepgui when not using gameex. Also, I'm much happier now, knowing that the problem is flaky with other people as well. Its strange that the bezel would get corrupted. I'll try this out though. I did noticed something else that was strange. I had GameEX and mame setup a certain way, and the bezel loaded horiztonally, and the vertical game was horizontal as well. Basiclly, the game was running horiztonally, with MAME and GAMEEX logos on the top and bottom. Isn't that wierd? I don't know how I did that. Another thing I've noticed that kinda confirms emphatic's previous message is the resolution of the bezel. I had it being displayed at super high res. The image of the bezel was so large, it took probably 120% of the screen, cropping off the bottom half. The rom was playing on the right half of the screen, and the other half of the bezel wasn't even visible. Perhaps this is a key factor Tom? Is the bezel artwork not scalable to match the rom? Some (or most for that matter) roms are in different resolutions. If the artwork is strictly limited to say an 800x600 resolution, then anything with a lower resolution would make the artwork huge, and vice versa for a higher resolution rom. Hmmmmm... I wish I knew more about programming to test the theory. I'm only good at troubleshooting/diagnostics and trial and error methods of repair.
  12. Just noticed on update... It downloaded and reinstalled the default themes on its own. This was done through the autoupdate.. I never had an option to disable the default theme package download.
  13. Hey Tom and others... If I could get somebody to verify this I'd be happier knowing I'm not crazy, or have some crazy configuration... I am running MAME32Plus as my emulator. It is configured the way I like, and all of the games play fine through it's frontend GUI. With the latest few versions of GameEx (6.18 now) I've been having more and more issues playing vertical games. I've finally tracked down the cause but need to be verified. I was previously able to play 1941 (a classic vertical shooter) fine. I had the custom designed bezel artwork provided with GameEX running along both sides of the screen. Inside MAME ofcourse I had the bezel turned off. Recently, this configuration no longer works. Most times the game would load the warning screen, then crash. Other times it would just flicker the screen, the mouse would jump around, then crash. I thought it might have been related to the resolution or vertical sync. I tried changing all kinds of things. It was a real bother because I couldn't figure out why the 1941 series games wouldn't work but others did fine. Then I realized it was because it was a vertical game, and GameEx has been going under a lot of reconstruction for vertical support. So I looked into the vertical options in the configuration of GameEx and tried disabling the bezel artwork for vertical screens. BAM!! That did it. Now all my vertical games work just like they do from within MAME itself. So my request to all is... can this be confirmed? Is anybody able to duplicate this? I have my mame settings at pretty much their defaults, with bezels turned off. GameEx is the same way, only with the bezels turned off. Try and play a vertical game with them on and see if it works or not. Thanks for your time in reading this. I wanted to go into as much detail as I could to try and show my troubleshooting and solution so Tom could fix it. Thanks!
  14. This may or may not be associated with this build exactly. However, whenever I get a new upgrade, it seems like none of my rom's play right. It looks like whenever I upgrade to a new version of GameEx, I have to re-update the games list in order for GameEx to recognize their locations. Is this something that I've just suddenly discovered, or is it just that way because that's how it has to be?
  15. Power DVD from CyberLink is the software I use. Good choice.
  16. Hey Tom.. Is there anyway to configure GameEx to store all your emulator's rom's into a text/ini file? I think the MAME part does this, which really helps as far as keeping the loading times down. But if you could somehow enable a feature to do this for all the other emulators, that would be great. You wouldn't have to get spiffy with the names either.. just something like emu1.txt, emu2.txt, emu3.txt.....emu25.txt. I think that would help out a lot. Keep up the great work!
  17. I don't know how you could have even had 27. I thought the max available was only 25.
  18. Not yet, but I've only just started my mame'ing. If you look, I posted a new topic just a couple days ago asking which emulator works best. So like I said, I don't know much in the way bugs and things. Seems to work pretty well so far.
  19. Just to confirm, it might be a localized case for you. I was checking out more things on my machine and couldn't duplicate your problem. Keep looking though, you'll figure it out.
  20. Wow only $800 bucks? Thats a nice difference from $2500. I was looking at 42 inch tv's for $1700 or so. Because of that cost, I was going to hold back on buying anything for a while. My most recent display buy was a Samsung SyncMaster 930b (19-inch LCD /w 12ms response time). I got that for my desktop computer. It was around $350 new. I don't know what they are now, but I doubt they've come down much. Where did you find a tunerless monitor at 57-inches and under $1k? I would definately be looking into that too since I use my MCE box and cable for tuner. If I don't have cable I'd use an antenna, yet still going into the box. Hmmm.. the possibilities.
  21. So when I save up the money.. what kind of TV should I buy? LCD, Plasma, projection?
  22. I have updated my GameEx list and it added about 300 more when I unchecked the option to use filters. As for you guys wanting to the different names, make sure you set the option "No Bracketed Text [NO]". This will show all the information. I found a site on the internet (won't say where) with a bunch of games on it, and discovered I was missing a bunch of them. So another problem/solution for me was that I didn't have them all. This may be the case for you other guys too. Also, I found a check box in Mame32+ that limits my available games to just what I have. Under View->Custom Filters... There was a box for filtering Unavailable. I checked it, and it dropped my list of games to 5719. So I didn't have 6200 like originaly thought.
  23. I'm using MAME Plus! 0.106u1 from http://mameplus.emu-france.com/ I'm not completely familiar with mame yet, but if I'm reading the screen right, the lower right hand corner says 6200 games.
  24. I have a similar situation but everything is set to show. I disabled the filters and have it set to show all, even non working. I got 13gb of them, Mame32+ shows 6200 in the lower right corner, while GameEx shows only 2692 on the "All MAME Games" option.
  25. 6.14 is the one I had played with when I noticed it.
