  1. Ok, I got Joy2Key, created a profile, and was able to control the game with my GamePad. Couple of issues came up though. First of all, when you click OPTIONS, it brings up the dialog for the keymapper settings, but I don't know what command line to send for it to work. Also, for some reason it didn't save my profile in Joy2Key so I have to recreate it. Also, I noticed their's no [X] icon to close the OPTIONS window once it's opened. It closed ok with the ESC key, but you should probably make some sort of button for the idiots like me to know where to close it. Or at least have the [Apply] button also close the window.
  2. I'm gonna give Joy2Key a whirl. Since I don't really need it for anything else right now, this should be sufficient. I might check out Xpadder in the future though. Thanks for fixing the link Adultery!
  3. The download link in the first post doesn't work. Was going to set this up today and just noticed.
  4. Isn't Xpadder (and Joy2Key for that matter) a program that requires a purchase/license? If it were free, I'd be all for it. But since theres more than one option here, how do you really know which is the better buy?
  5. I'd still like some better way to remap for gamepads. I don't have xpadder/joy2key and don't have any emulators that need them, so I never bothered to get it. Would be kinda painful to install it just to get that support for this game. I'd love to play this game though!

    WHAT?!

Didn't realize I hadn't updated... After finally getting everything worked out with the RMA, the new drive arrived in like 3 days. I ran it through all my testing programs before actually installing it to make sure it was good drive. Then I ran it through a 24-hour burn test of random read/writes. Everything checked out, so I replaced my drive with theirs and shipped the box right back to them. I had a hiccup where they sent me an email saying they never received the old drive. I told them I sent it to them like a week before, and I kept the UPS receipt for proof if they didn't believe me. Then the next day I got another email saying they received it and all was well. So far, the replacement drive is working beautifully. I haven't had any further issues. To be honest, I've never really had any trouble with Seagate. This is probably the only time I've ever had this kinda problem, and it turned out it was something on my end. That stupid captcha thing wasn't being 'rendered' on their website, which was causing me to miss a request on the form. The last time I RMA'd with them, they didn't have a Captcha. I think I've solved my Captcha problems too since then. Had something to do with website security, and the fact that the actual Captcha app, being coded by Google, was therefore assumed to be a 3rd party website and my browser blocked all 3rd party apps/ads/etc.
  7. Hope you had a good one my friend!
  8. Yeah, thats why I mentioned it. I figured you were going for a full blown offline version, so you'd have to do some kinda remapping. I really wish I could get my gamepad to work with it though. It works fine with the keyboard so it shouldn't be that hard. Since you're building it as an exe, maybe you could incorporate some kinda custom joy2key interface.. just have it prompt for the key to use, and it just detects the directinput key you press.
  9. The game works, but I can't get it to work with my gamepad. If I can figure out how to manually map my keys then this would be awesome... There are embedded links in the "title screen" though that go out to the website, so those will have to be remapped to either not work at all, or you need to copy a generic HTML and relink it to a local path. I didn't play it far enough (since I don't have a working gamepad) to see if any of the save features work. But the game loads, and appears to be self contained.
  10. Game looks pretty cool. Mixture of every awesome game ever made.
  11. Lucky! Those guys are all awesome in my book. How you know them?
  12. Wow is right! I just watched that video. I have yet to play that game. I'm more of a Halo guy. But still, the idea of total immersion is crazy! Treadmills, paintball guns, a 360 screen. Wow!
  13. Woot Go Bucks! BTW; nice looking theme going here.
  14. I'm going to be buying a DSLR camera with my income tax refund. I've always had simple point and shoots, and recently got into doing more photography with a higher end point and shoot. I enjoy walking nature trails and stuff and capturing birds, insects, flowers, etc while doing that. However, I'm feeling more and more restricted by what I can do because of the camera. The Autofocus isn't fast enough to capture birds, and when I try to focus on insects and things the focus usually is on the wrong thing. So with a DSLR I'll be able to control the focus much more quickly and precisely. Another lacking feature is the zoom. While my latest camera (Canon Powershot S5IS) can do a very nice zoom, it's still not good enough to really get in there and get some good pictures of water fowl and the like. With interchangable lenses, I could switch to a much more powerful zoom, or a macro-lense for the insects. Basically, I'm wanting to do MORE with photography than just the simple family/pet photos and the occasional lucky shot of a bird. I want to get more into the artistic side and capture things like star trails, sunsets, etc. So I've decided upgrading to a DSLR would be my first ticket. I'm going to get the Canon EOS Rebel T3i. Amazon has one for $899 that comes with the kit lense as well as an additional zoom lens. I could get a different one with only lens, but it's only $50 bucks more, so I'm saving up a few extra dollars from my paychecks. I could easily cut the bill in half if I went with the T2i instead of the T3i, but the extra features in the T3i are more advantageous to me I think. The S5IS I already have has the tilt/swivel LCD screen, and I really like it. The T3i has that, but the T2i doesn't. But I wouldn't buy it for just that reason alone. Theres a couple of other nice improvements over the T2i that I can easily see are more valuble in comparison. So what I'm looking for, are suggestions from you guys as to what you'd recommend I do to prepare myself. Does anybody know of any good, non text-book books I should check out from the library to familiarize myself with the new technology? Any websites you might recommend for tips/tricks? I know theres lots of stuff out there, but I don't want such a broad scope from professional masters. I'm just looking for basic beginner type stuff. Anybody else here use DSLR and wanna talk about it?
  15. Dude I would love to play with an LCARS theme! Keep us updated!
  16. Yeah I know it's asking a lot... thats why I put it up here to see what we can do to maybe work something out. I know a basic layout idea of the home screen would be doable currently, but to have different menu systems under different tiers would be a lot of extra coding. Because each menu system is a different style, it's not all one general theme throughout. The slider effect for viewing random games and recent games would also need to be programmed out, otherwise the static image wouldn't be very impressive.
  17. Yeah I think this one would need a lot more work though. The menus are very active and not static. For instance, the home screen will change the recent image automatically every 2 seconds or so. The same is true with the 5 images in the middle. It slides the images from one to the next without any user input at all. It's a very slick interface.
  18. So I have this awesome idea for a new theme style, but it's gonna take a lot of additional coding on Tom's part for the backend support. So I'm gonna pitch this idea first, and hopefully if there's enough bite on it, Tom will eventually implement it! I'm a user and huge fan of Media Browser. It's a front-end for Windows Media Center (Vista and 7) that allows you to quickly and easily see what multimedia you have on your computer/server. I've been using it for years and highly recommend it. Recently, they came out with a whole new theme package called NEO, which looks absolutely gorgeous. I can't help but be moving around in the various menus and imagine myself doing this for GameEx. So my idea is to make a NEO-like theme for GameEx! Here's what their home screen looks like... What I thought I'd do is go through each section of the image, and explain what they do, and how I think they would work with GameEx.. The first section in the top right is already a feature currently available in the latest available theme version.. a Time and Weather. Below that is an icon of a wrench. The wrench goes into onscreen settings for the theme, such as colors, layouts, chosing how many previews to have, etc. So in GameEx's case, this could open the advance config editor, or something similar. The next spot down is the list of various media types you would have, in my case Tv Shows, Movies, and Podcasts. So for GameEx, this would be like MAME, Pinball, Consoles, Handhelds, etc. Below that is the grapical set. The top left (collection) is a static image that basically displays for you what section of the above list you're in. Below that is an active picture that changes every 2 seconds or so, scrolling up, that shows your last 5 'shows' you watched. For GameEx, this would be your last 5 games in this particular category. The big picture in the middle is used to draw your attention to 5 randomly chosen 'tv shows' from your list. Thus, for GameEx this would be 5 randomly chosen games from your current category. The image here scrolls to the right every 2 seconds or so, changing the little box icon underneath to show which image is currently on. The image in the top right is obvious, being the Last Played. Also obvious is the one right below that, which would randomly start up a game from that selected category. The last image on this screen "channels" I can't really think of anything to directly correlate with, so perhaps this could be a universal EXIT GAMEEX button. So hopefully to better illustrate this, I cut together a rough photoshop image to show what I mean... If you don't choose anything from down below, like the last game, recent games, or 'advertised' game, clicking select will bring up the next screen in the series... This would be your "system select" screen. If you chose MAME, it would list all your different MAME filters, like Trackball, Light Gun, Spinner, 2-Player, 4-Player, Adult, etc. If you chose something like Console, then it would display the different types of consoles, like Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, etc. Upon hovering over a selected item, the information on the left would change. This would idealy display information about the game system, such as who made it, when, it's market value, etc. All this information is on WikiPedia. As for the little blurb at the bottom of the screen, I was thinking it would be useful for a quick rundown of the year it was made, number of games currently available, last time you played in this system, etc. Here's my photoshop for this one: Finally, after you choose your game type and system, you get to the game select menu. This should be relatively easy, and is already basis for many other menu sytems/themes on GameEx. Here's what the one in Media Browser looks like... So basically my workup for this screen would be simple. The main list on the right would work just as it always had, displaying the list of games in alphabetical order. The image on the left would be the EmuMovies video of the game, or a static image in the case of a nonexistant movie. The details below that would be the same game info from current GameEx themes. The bar along the bottome would have quick details about the game, like the year it came out, the ESRB rating, number of players, etc. If we had the ability, we could also incorporate a star rating system that updates the GameEx server so we could get live up-to-date ratings based on user inputs. So here's my last quick photoshop example for this screen: So what do you guys think? Wouldn't this just be a total kickass theme for GameEx? I'm dead serious when I say I'd pay for a theme that does all this. Perhaps Tom could consider it and make it a 'Premium' theme like the guys over at Media Browser did. That way the cost of time and development would be returned. I'd gladly do that, and even help out in production where I can. I can do the photoshopping for the static system images, etc. I'm just curious what the GameEx community thinks? Lets get some good discussion going on this to get Tom's interest!
  19. Thats great. I wish I could be buying my full license all over again so I could get in on such a great deal... Ok maybe not. I would have missed out on the great things I've been able to help with through the years already. Keep it up Tom!
  20. I'm sitting at home, doing nothing, bored and lonely. Same last every last 31 years worth.
  21. My return hasn't come back yet. I made $2000 less cash this year, yet was charged $200 more in taxes. Plus, my return this year is like $400 less back than last year too. I hate taxes. I don't get nearly enough back to make it useful for anything. I might buy a new pair of glasses, if I'm lucky. I was hoping I could get enough back to get something really nice, like a new camera. Oh well. Guess thats what I get for working part time.
