  1. ADMINS. If this type of question is not allowed, please delete with my apologies. I re-read the Guidelines and Rules, and thought that I was OK posting this. I have No$GBA set up with GameEx. I've been looking for a way to make the screen size larger for DS games. I saw in a post by frequency that he used NO$ZOOMER. I downloaded this, scanned it with my anti-virus software (AVG-free), and it passed. But when I run NO$ZOOMER, AVG complains that its MALWARE. The details are as follows: *AVG details: 5 processes terminated 1 file deleted 0 registry keys deleted Processes terminated: *NO$GBA.EXE Process ID: 3712 Full path: ... Characteristics: Process memory is compromised Injects code The executable is packed Executes from the filesystem Is terminated Visible window *NO$ZOOMER.EXE Process ID: 984 Full Path: ... Characteristics: Injects code Small executable Executes from the filesystem Spawns other processes Is terminated Visible Window *CALMAIN.exe Process ID: 3120 Full Path: ... Characteristics: System service Window not visible Probably survives reboot Executes from the filesystem Is terminated *nvsvc32.exe Process ID: 2740 Full Path: ... Characteristics: Executes from the WIndows directory System service Window not visible Probably survives reboot Spawns other processes *LSSrvc.exe Process ID: 2152 Full Path: ... Characteristics: System service Window not visible Probably survives reboot Executes from the filesystem Is terminated *Files deleted: *NO$ZOOMER.EXE The descriptions might actually be describing the program correctly and its fine, or it could be malware... So, I guess my question is, is AVG being too cautious? Do I have a malware infested version? or are all versions of NO$ZOOMER malware? [edit] OR... should I just be using DeSmuME instead?
  2. Not a big deal, but I was browsing my GameEx log looking to clean up warnings, etc. when I came across the following Errors: News Reader: Error Downloading Feed: http://www.mameworld.net/mt/index.xml News Reader: Error Downloading Feed: http://blog.seanalexander.com/SyndicationService.asmx/GetRssCategory?categoryName=XP%20Media%20Center News Reader: Error Downloading Feed: http://msdn.microsoft.com/rss.xml News Reader: Error Downloading Feed: http://www.mameworld.net/maws/mawshof.xml News Reader: Error Downloading Image: http://www.gameex.net/GameExText.png To:E:\SW\GameEx\MEDIA\NEWS\httptomspeirscomgameexgameexnewsxml.png News Reader: Error Downloading Feed: http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?act=rssout&id=1 I can see that some of these might go down, or be old (I have the latest GameEx), but I would expect the 2 GameEx links to work...
  3. You are correct.
  4. Feature Request: Could you please add MAME's Custom List feature to the other emulators. (and allow for CustomMenu.ini to point to these).
  5. Feature Request: Could you please add a CustomMenu.ini options to allow selecting of a Custom Mame List Menu, similar to the ability to select the Favorites menu.
  6. I have not found a way to use custom menus to push down into a MAME sub-category yet... If its possible, hopefully one of the experts will respond. I've resorted to implementing MAME as a normal editor multiple times with roms in separate directories for each custom sub-category. This works, but looses the benefits of some of the built in MAME features (.x cabinets, list view icons, etc.). Being able to create custom MAME lists and jumping directly to them in Custom Menus would be great!

Thanks for this contribution! It will definitely come in handy!
  8. Feature Request: This might be kind of a stretch... but can you add another Movie/.X/Image for each background to the themes? I love the Movie for a background concept, but it brings my machine to it's knees, so I was thinking about having an image background, but having a smaller configurable location/size to have a movie playing? It would be even better if the movie size and location could be different for each background.
  9. Feature Request: Could you link the CustomMenu.ini to a theme? When I'm running my custom theme, it makes sense for the custom menu to go with it... but when I want to use someone elses theme, I really want to use the normal menus. Also, I have an 'odd' setup in my CustomMenu that doesn't use MAME, so when Tom adds cool features for MAME, such as the 3D cabinets or the List View icons, I can't see them without leaving GameEx and disabling custom menus... I think it would be very cool to allow for every Theme to have it's own CustomMenu.ini...
  10. Please add the capability for ALL List Views to support icons similar to how it's integrated for MAME. Thanks Tom!
  11. You weren't the only one with the ZIP sitting in the directory... It's a nice addition to the list view! Is this icon display on the list view only for MAME? or can I set up my other emulators to do it as well? If so, I guess I'll request it in the Features Request...
  12. Thanks Tom! I'm downloading now! Thanks for the default image support! I'll also add my vote for supporting your new pop-up in V4 themes (and movable like the scroll bar). I've already got the perfect place to put the pop-up on my theme...
  13. I'm not sure, I disabled MAME in my custom menus when they first came out because of this. I just set it up as another emulator. I've lost some of the MAME specific features, but it's worked to take me straight to MAME ALL. I'm not sure if Tom has added the capability or not. Otherwise, you might be able to if you disable all of the different Show MAME features, but I haven't tried this.
  14. According to my image search, it's ... RealSports Boxing Published by Atari in 1988 for the Atari 2600 It does match my 'rs boxing' for the 2600.
  15. My theme is Version 4. Are you saying that for compatibility with v2 and v3 themes, v4 themes have the same limitation? or is there something wrong with my theme (completely possible since its my own custom one)?
  16. I'm starting to try and get my Jukebox portion of GameEx working now... I love the Visualize options, but I'm seeing some problems and I'm not sure if it's just my machine, or a bug in GameEx. 1) When I go to the Jukebox, and play a song, in one of my image windows, I see the CD cover and the last visualization I used (previous run). When I go to 'Play list/More' and select Visualize, the screen is completely black, other than the CD cover in the bottom right corner and the text scrolling at the bottom. If I go back to the menu and select 'Select Visualization', then I see the visualization instead of the black screen. BUT, 2) now if I go back, my image window now still shows the CD cover, but the visualization is scrunched into the top 1/8 of the image space (still functioning though) with a static snapshot of the rest of the visualization below. I've attached Good/Bad images to help show. Thanks for any help.
  17. I'm sure this is a simple question, but I'm wanting to understand the Menu Options while in the Jukebox... Overall, I see the following options: By Title By Artist OR By Artist/Album By Album By Genre Play list/More Change View Back Home Exit My preference is By Album. If I select it, then it is replaced by 'By Artist/Album' and my list shows my albums. This is fine. But when I exit/restart GameEx, the Jukebox is now in the same last Menu selection mode, but the list in by Title. So I have to select By Artist/Album and the By Album. I know that this is no heart ache, but it seems to me that this is not correct. I would expect the Menu to show all options OR all options except the one currently being displayed. How is it intended to operate?
  18. I know what you mean regarding the retro feel. I chose it over the more modern Media Streamers for that reason. I just ended up going with the CD sorting to help organize. I do like the default Jukebox skin, but it wanted more songs on the screen at the same time... My game cabinet uses an Mini-Pac and all the custom buttons. For this Jukebox, I'm still designing/building it, but I'm cheating and just mounting a USB Number pad as my buttons ($10 for 18-button keypad). Mine is strictly a stand alone jukebox (network jack is broken). I think your PCI card will be fine for graphics. This software uses the Allegro SW library which doesn't have a lot of high power or 3D graphics built into it (great little 2D game programming library for WinXP and older). I like the external volume idea. I've always liked analog dials for volume versus +/- buttons. The SW does have a screen saver, but I haven't used it yet. So I can't say much about it. It also supports slide shows, but I haven't used those either. As far as network sharing, if you mean just sharing a HD on the network, I'm sure it's intended to work. I haven't tried it since my machine doesn't support a network connection. I think my crashing problem is more related to MY old USB drive, not the SW ability to access external drives (USB or Network). But, this SW does not (to my knowledge) support the newer streaming protocols. Good luck! Post a picture when you're done.
  19. Yeah... my laptop has a pretty small HDD, so I have an old external ADS USB 2.0 External HDD case with an 80 GB IDE drive in it. So far, if I keep my music on the internal HDD, then I don't have any problems scanning the music library. When I use the external USB drive, it fails at different points while scanning the music library. As for resources, when I run it on my machine (Dell Latitude C800 P3-850MHz, 512MB, 1400x1050), it takes ~50% CPU and <40MB memory (according to Task Manager). I really don't think its much of a hog. It has an INI setting for CPUUsage ranging from 0 to 100 to somewhat control it's CPU priority. Mine is set to the default 10. With the 'skin' that I'm running, is based on the cdbox2 skin. It displays 4 albums at a time (including the CD cover), and lists the songs underneath each image. I can then either use a mouse (temperary) or use my USB keypad to enter in the selection # (like old jukeboxes)<Album #1-4><Song #00-19><enter>. When I just use the default skin, it lists them alphabetically by Artist->Song (ID3 values or filenames - INI selectable). There is an 'SongSort' INI setting for CD-based skins to sort by: Artist name, Album name, or random. There are also default (INI determined) Album names and Artist names for files without that information. Hope this helps!
  20. I've just started down this road as well. I selected DWJukebox initially because it supported DOS, which is what I was going to build it on... Then I came across an old laptop with WinXP. I've tried to continue to use DWJukebox, but I've ran into a problem since I've added an external USB harddrive. The software crashes when it tries to scan the external HD for songs... I'm slowly trying to figure out how to fix this because I like the SW... I might be able to help with your questions...
  21. GameEx does also support your own Control panels without CPWizard, but it's not nearly as flexible... If you turn on the view control panels within GameEx, and define the ControlPanelPath=<path>, you can place the an control panel image for each game you want (using the same game base filename). I believe that if you do not have a image file, NO image is displayed.
  22. Draco, that mock up looks great! Also, can you post the font name and how you got to it... When I tried the link, it errorred out stating "Hotlinking is not allowed".
  23. Thanks for the update Tom. I can't wait to try it out!
  24. Sorry for the delayed response... Just another American recovering from too much food! Looks like I had the HUGE (38MB) GameEx .X file test mapped to one of my icons, and when I actually let it go forever (about 2 minutes), it did load. That's not something I expect to load fast...
  25. I 'develop' (graphics/themes/etc.) and test on my desktop, and then copy it over to arcade cabinet for real use!
