  1. Thanks Adultery! Hopefully I'll get back to my plugin ideas sometime, and this should help.
  2. As long as it still has good air flow and doesn't overheat, there should not be performance issues. As for the DVD drive, some drives are made to support both vertical and horizontal orientations, but most are not. If it doesn't have clips or tabs in the tray to hold a DVD in place while vertical, I'd bet it doesn't support a vertical orientation and would cause problems if you used it that way.
  3. Oh the memories... TRS-80 Color Computer with 4K memory, cassette tape player, dot-matrix printer, 300 bps modem... Ancient stuff.
  4. Great start! I love the background and layout. I prefer the media bar top center versus left, and I like the menu across the floor.
  5. I was floating around the web, thinking about re-purposing some old hardware, when I came across PalmOrb and LCD Smartie... I quickly pulled out an old PalmPilot, dusted it off, and installed the SW, and wow, I have a little LCD plugged into my serial port. I know that GameEx supports LCD Smartie, and that got me thinking... The LCD 20x4 that PalmOrb supports is small, and doesn't utilize the screen very well. I was thinking that since I'm not trying to be a generic LCD, maybe I could modify the PalmOrb SW and use more of the screen... But even more interesting to me would be to send keystrokes from the PalmPilot touch screen to the GameEx SW... Currently, the PalmOrb SW does have 25 buttons (A-Y) that it sends keystrokes back to the host. I can verify this with a terminal. Does the GameEx LCD Smartie Plugin already support keystrokes from the device? If not, is it possible to make a plug-in that would take the serial keystroke input, and send it to GameEx? Any thoughts or comments?
  6. Very nice work Djour!
  7. I would say +1 to the feature request! I've just been lucky and not hit this issue I guess...
  8. Thanks Circo!
  9. Nice work Draco! Question since you said that you've redone most of your work from scratch... I've used your last full logos release pack as a starting point for my WOPR them logos, but I have to remove the mirrored part of the backgrounds by hand (about 70% complete)... For this set, do your XCF/PSD files have the actual logo parts separated from the backgrounds? or are the bricks merged in? By the way... I love the Wii and Guncon images!
  10. Thanks for all of your continued support Tom!
  11. I can understand not wanting to map the reset to an action key... I guess this leads back to your original question about administrative keys... If you do not want it mapped on an action key, administrative keys would be a good choice. My cabinet has 4 admin keys that are centrally located on the panel that are used for Escape, pause, and IPAC shift keys (2 IPACs). I use the shift key for functions that I don't do often or during game play. This may be a good place for yours??? Shift + P1 Start => Atari Reset? Just an idea. I'm sure you've had plenty of ideas yourself. Pick what you like! (you can always re-wire or add more buttons... or build another cabinet! )
  12. I've got my second monitor, but I don't have MM setup yet. I'll have to set it up and try it when I get some time.
  13. I have Atari 2600 set up on my cabinet, but I haven't played it in a while. I don't remember this issue. Do you have some specific games that I could go test? Also, what emulator are you using? I currently have Mess setup to run it (I know it's not the best...) and it allows me to remap keys for reset to one of my existing control panel buttons while emulating that system. If my memory serves me correct, Stella is the more popular Atari 2600 emulator. I would guess that it will let you remap a key for reset (someone else can chime in if I'm wrong)... and I'm guessing that you have plenty of buttons already for this since the 2600 only has a joystick and 1 button.
  14. Thanks for the continuous work Tom!

    Nice!
  16. The Opti-Pac can handle AT MOST 2 trackball and 4 spinners... If you are using 1 trackball and 2 spinners, you actually have 1 trackball and 2 spinners remaining! But, each trackball (2-axis) is shared with 2 spinners (each 1-axis), so if you're using both at the same time, your movements are additive... Since you're only using 1 trackball and 2 spinners, you could wire it up so that they do not interfere with each other...
  17. Irfanview currently supports .mp4 files... Has anyone tried .mp4's with MM?

Usually you can put a piece of scotch tape over an LED mouse, and it diffuses the light enough that it will not track... so you can still drive them crazy!
  19. Thanks for the complete weather description list!
  20. Tom - Is there a mapping for the Weather icons? If I look in the GameEx/Media/Icons/Weather directory, there are images 0.png - 47.png. Looking at those, there are a lot of images that either are the same, or look very similar... Is there a text description of what each icon represents somewhere? Thanks!
  21. I have a setup similar to Stu, with the arching 2 rows of buttons, but only a total of 8-buttons per player plus coin and start. My configuration is two arching rows of three with two more for the thumb. * * * * * * * * Although players 3 & 4 only have four buttons * * * * I also have left and right flipper buttons, 2 mouse buttons that work with my trackball as a mouse, a special button located front and center specifically for hyperspace (I'm still a die-hard asteroids fan), and 4 admin buttons center-top of my panel. For the admin buttons, one is assigned to 'p' for pausing, one is assigned to Esc, and the other two are assigned to my two IPAC shift keys. Although, I have to admit that I rarely ever use the shift functions on the panel. If I need these keys, I pull my keyboard out of the cabinet. My tastes are pretty much old school, so the more modern fighter games that use all of the buttons are not really used. My original intend was to support them, as well as all of my Playstation one games. Really, my cabinet was built for Asteroids, Tron, Tempest, and 4-player Gauntlet... and it does those very well! The rest is just ready for expansion. Link to pictures (WOPR)
  22. That's quite the long list of updates!!! Thanks for all of the work Tom. I'm looking forward to playing with all of this... although you're outdating my theme work...
  23. I agree with AlphaUMi. I love the theme in XBMC, and from your screen shots make the GameEx version look even better!
  24. The polygon count can cause a load delay, but if that's the only problem, GameEx will load it... eventually. I had a high-polygon count version of the GameEx.X Logo I made that took around 8-10 minutes for my machine to load it... If you go to the screen that should load it, and then just let it work for an extended period of time, it might load. Also, HeadKaze posted the Mview.exe utility here that can load and display .X files. You could use that to try and load your modified .X. Mview post link
  25. Thanks Circo! It's been on my ToDo list to subscribe for a while now, and this was a good little reminder and motivator to do it. Just Subscribed!
