  1. No Joy. What I see is this... I turn-off all filters, and allow working only, no clones, and show brackets. Update the list, everything shows as expected. Then I went back in and turned on the usual clean-up filters, added jungleh and junglek into the "do not filter" over-ride, and turned off the brackets. I restart GameEx and I loose all occurrences of Jungle Hunt/King, including good non-bootlegs like (Japan), and (US). I then go back into the Advance Configuration, check to see that everything I set is what I want... restart GameEx again, refresh the list... everything came back, and I mean EVERYTHING, all bootlegs, hardware, different regions... everything... which makes no sense to me. I go back in to the Advanced Configuration, check that everything is still turned on/off as above...save... restart GameEx and it all goes away again... including Jungle Hunt/King. So no matter what I do, I can't over-ride it. I have no idea why it's having this issue with Jungle Hunt. Everything else seems to be OK. Grrrr...
  2. I tried everything BUT that... Sounds like a good plan. I'll give it a go and see what happens. Thanks as always.
  3. Hiya fellas... hope is all well and good with everyone. Glad to see Tom is still cranking away updates to this beast! Now to my question... After a request for a specific title, Jungle King, I noticed it did not appear in my game list. I have the game, it's a good set, and it works fine outside of using GameEx. So after playing with every option in the wizard, I still cannot display either version of Jungle King. What gives? Am I missing something? Thanks for the help.
  4. Thanks... sorry, I forgot about the forum rule on that one.
  5. I tried it about 9 months ago on my cafe cabinet. It's the more kid friendly cabinet, uses the vertical plain, and is more visually attractive to the kids. So I thought, well, why not. I wish I had stopped there. It was a mess. A lot of time was spent learning how to set it up, and get it working. I nearly drove myself to tears, then when I finally got it working... the PC was not enough to run it, even with a decent video card, and plenty of power to run everything else on the cabinet. So I gave up. That cabinet has Mala running on it which works great for the kids. My other two cabinets are solely GameEx, with one being a MAME dedicated, the other being MAME and other games. Nothing tops GameEx for use and content. I am amazed at what I have put into it, and it keeps asking for more. Thanks to the design of it, I now have a working museum of game console emulators dating from the late 70's to the early 90's... complete with pictures and descriptions. I love it! Great post.
  6. wow... no hits.. I'm loosing my touch..
  7. Hello Gents, It's mid summer, and time to update my cabinets!! Yeah! So I've been gathering a ton more options for eumlation on my one rig, using mostly MESS. I have to say, they're really coming along and rapidly looking like the 1 stop for all emulation needs other than arcade stuff. So where are the latest good sources for images now? Some of the sites I used to use are gone. I'm looking for Sega Master System, GameBoy, GBA, and some other old skool stuff as well. Thanks as always, I hope all is well with everyone. IMBerZerk for taking time off from video gaming!!!
  8. Up to the top!
  9. Great stuff! Bump!
  10. Sure thing, I'm going to bring home my tools from work, make a cable and satisfy what it's looking for. It happens before there is any chance to select anything in any setup. It asks for it right where it used to fail looking for the .Net files. Maybe it's a bad download, but either way... #1 hook-up cable #2 new downloaded file #3 pray #4 post results here... Thanks Brian.
  11. Well, there is no log as the setup program did not reach a point where it created one... very strange.
  12. Basically, it's a clean HD with a fresh XP SP2 install, and nothing else is on the PC. Just GameEx and MAME. I pulled down the latest GameEx version, and simply ran the setup as always. It asked for the .Net files, which I installed direct from M$ off files on my thumbdrive. So I figured I was good. I have no clue what could be wrong... am I missing anything in the O/S, maybe I should run a CAT 5 cable to the cabinet and allow it to update to SP3? I'll try to post the log tonight if I have time... which one do you need? Thanks as always
  13. Like Tempest, I have not updated any of my cabinets for some time. I am now updating my cafe unit, and realized that I needed to be on the net to load GameEx. Is this the case, or am I doing something wrong. I don't remember having to be connected to load GameEx, download the themes and stuff, yes, but not to load it. Can I avoid this... other option is to buy a cheap USB wireless NIC. Thanks, IMB
  14. .... and at the very end of the video, have Evil Otto come out from behind the Tempest cabinet, jump on it and 'de-rezz' it. Got the Intruder!! Sorry, I couldn't resist... I'll crawl back in to my hole now. LOL! ImBerZerk

Did you need advice building it... wiring it... what do you need help with? Since many of us, including myself, have built or restored our own cabinets, we definately can feel the pain you are going through. What are you having trouble with? The light? I used a 14" florecent light from Lowe's, cracked it open and hard-wired it into the power strip I have everything hooked into. So when I throw the switch, it comes on. You need to be a lot more specific. I liken building a cabinet to building an old car...
  16. This is the work of Peter Hirschberg, he's insane with 3D rendering. I met him in Maryland where he worked for a little while in this massive warehouse full of old arcade machines. I bought my Strata Bowling cafe cabinet from the owner about 5 years ago. Peter was working there in exchange for taking home cabinets for 'free'. There should be a link somewhere that shows his arcade room in his basement. Everything the guy touches is like gold. Heck of a nice guy too, we hit it off and had a few laughs. I'm glad I met him... total arcade nut!!
  17. What you consider 'soft' is probably (most likely) the 'hardware stretch' option in MAME, which is on by default. You can turn it off via command line, and see if it suits you better, but honestly, it's really how the games should look. I have MAME running on 2 CRT driven carts, and the other is an LCD. I think the CRT's are 100% better. IMBerZerk
  18. I tell ya, compiling with HK's tool isn't too bad.. it just takes forever. What extras are there, maybe shake the noggin' a little? I'm curios to know. I usually just go for the high score patch, as I don't use cheats or save states.
  19. But what's the point of running MAME with a frontend on it... if you are running GameEx then it's best to run MAME native, without anything else interacting between the emulator and GameEx. Yes, the ROM sets are key. Once you update your MAME version, you have to go back and update your ROM set. Hence why I tend to stay with one version for a while. You need to patch MAME to save all high scores, as they removed that option several versions ago. They wanted it to act like a true old arcade machine that wipes them our when you turn it off.
  20. Looks great so far HK, I like it. I agree on the font though, it needs to be something more simple and readable. On a side note... how are you running Dragon's Lair? Through Daphne or MAME?
  21. Whatever version you use, make sure it's NOT the MAME32 version. Use the Windows command line version or better known as simply MAME and you can get the latest versions here... http://mamedev.org/release.html Using the MAME32 version does work, hoever it's been known to cause issues with GameEx as MAME32 is really a front end for MAME. HTH IMberZerk
  22. For Intellivision, I use Nostalgia. It has it's quirks, but it's the only one that allows you to use the Classic Game Controller. I think Bliss may allow it now, but it's not native as Nostalgia is. With the CGC, you can use actual Intellivision controllers, which makes a HUGE difference for Intellivision games. Really, you can't play them with out it. How about Colecovision?
  23. For me, it has a lot to do with, let's call it "ease of configuration". I found MESS to easiset and fastest to set-up in Game-Ex with the easiest options to make changes to the controller config. I had Stella, which was very good, but not as easy as MESS, and the rest, forget it. Z26 drove me nuts and PCAtari (DOS) was impossible. The minimal for a dedicated emulator should be to be able to set the key-mapping to whatever you want it to be. If I don't see that, off it goes. I think CC64 is the best emulator for that. You can remap the whole keyboard and every controller you want to emulate. Keep it up, I hope this will be a very informative thread for anyone looking to make choices on emulation. Over the 9 years that I've owned my MAME/Emulator cabinet, the most difficult part was all the time wasted testing the individual emulators to try and find the best over-all fit. IMB
  24. For the longest time, I have used MESS to emulator Atari, Colecovision, NES, SNES, and many other super old systems. I find it to be easy to use and accurate. What differences do you guys see when you use the more dedicated emulators for each system. For instance take Stella vs MESS or Znes vs MESS... what is better, and why? IMBerzerk
  25. Thanks T... no doubt I will never live that down... LOL! Anyway, it's a time thing. I'm restoring a car, as well as working on the house.. so the game cabinet stuff goes on the back burner usually until this time of year. Yeah I should stick around and help help out more. It's fun. I just can't seem to follow all the updates during the year. Then I'm always fearful of updating MAME, and see which favorite game I loose, to have to update the ROM set.. etc.. etc. It's just a ton of work. I do miss this forum though... good people on it! All the best, IMB
