  1. Here's the problem... the teale box covering the Mame video is the Media Player screen saver... and the scrolling name at the top is covering the whole length. I did upgrade the theme to version 4 if that helps. Thanks
  2. Firstly, hi everyone. It's been a long while but time flies... so here I am again... my cabinet for whatever reason (kids) lost all the GameEx config info for all emus, and everything... so I had to rebuild it. I decided to update everything as it was a perfect chance. GameEx has really come a long way! I love all the new options available, seems like combining the Advanced config and the Wizard really works well... plus I finally have the cabinet the way I want it with the 'simple' interface selected. I created my own 'theme' combining the Future Retro and Black Glass themes ... it works great! But.. as always with change comes questions.... 1. Seems I lost the list of 'other variations' when you view a game's info, you know the one that shows what other emulators play the same game. Is that lost with the 'simple' interface option? I really liked that list. 2. How can I remove the Media player display? When I play a song, I get this little box with the effects from media player on my screen. 3. How can I shrink the scrolling song name for the songs as they are playing. It's too long. I'll take a screen shot if you need to see what I am talking about... Thanks a mil as always! IMB oh yeah... where is the Daphne setup posted? Does anyone have it for the newest version of GameEx?
  3. Upgrade to the latest GameEx and grab a new theme. They're all different. Sure you can play around and set it up yourself, but some of the Themes are really good at doing it for you. Also, there are settings in the config that 'show' what you are looking for. You have to turn them on... as long as the theme you picked has that option active. I use Blackglass and have tweeked it to fir the use of my cabinet. It's really good. The Shutdown is listed in the menu, and not an Icon. I like it better that way. IMB
  4. Welcome to the obsession of game collection.... After a while, you begin to realize that it's not worth collecting them all, and settling for the systems that spark old memories, or fun 'beer chats' are best kept working. I keep systems like Atari, Intellivision, NES, Sega... MAME... up to date so when friends come over, they can pick an oldie and walk down memory lane. Other than that, it's sheer hell trying to keep-up with all systems. IMB
  5. Ok, it's working now. I had to manually enter the changes into the gameex.ini file for each incident of MESS. Not sure why it would not work though the AdvanceConfig application, but it certainly worked the manual way. All good and working now. Thanks for the help. IMB
  6. Does it work for you? I did just that and left it at a simple mess.exe -system -cart [ROMxxxx] and it still won't work. But it works fine outside of GameEx. Not sure why... but I fall back to 138 and all is good. Thanks, IMB
  7. Well after reading the new Wiki for MESS, I can see they have changed a lot in the command line options. All the options I have listed are gone/changed other than the 'skip_gameinfo' option. Man, I hate when they do that!!!! So I have to reconfig all my Emus to use the new option set for 143. Grrrrrrr!
  8. WOW... my 300th post!!! Cool I am a Super Member... wahoooo!!!! Now people are fooled into thinking I know what I am talking about... HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! I AM BERZERK!!!!
  9. Thanks, I'll try this. At least you are/were seeing the same issue as I am. Hansolo... I have the 32bit. It works without issue outside of GameEx. Alos, MESS roms are different than MAME. MAME roms have that problem because the roms carry core/driver information for the machine they are emulating in MAME. MESS doesn't do that. They are just ROMS for the most part, while the MESS BIOS files carry the core info and get updated once in a very long while. Even though MESS uses the core of MAME, it thankfully does not carry the annoyances of MAME ROM sets when you upgrade it. Thanks anyway though.
  10. Hi Guys. I decided to upgrade MESS today to version 143. Well, not touching anything else in GameEx, now MESS will not run anything from GameEx. I made sure MESS is still setup correctly, and all directories match. It works fine outside of GameEx. I even played around with the command line... for example... mess.exe nes -cart "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]" -joy -now -nonewui -skip_gameinfo I dumped all the extras after the ROM statements, nothing. All the directories list in my config for GameEx are correct as nothing has changed. All I did was update the MESS executable. Anyone else seeing this issue? I run a lot of old skool emulation from MESS, so I need it working. Not sure what to do now. Thanks. IMB
  11. I've been working more of the databases and also adjusting the ones I have already posted. It's a double edged sword with these. Because I am limiting each game to one entry and not accounting for the multiple versions that some ROMs have, whatever version you might have active, may not 'light-up' the info. Plus to make everything work correctly, you have to have each ROM name in each database matched as well. BUT... if you match what I have listed in these databases, you will be shocked to see how many emulators will cross each other and give you the many variations each console had of the same game. Pac-Man, Q*Bert, Ms. Pac-Man, etc.. games like that will show the A2600, A5200, Intellivision, GBA, GBC... etc.. versions along with the MAME version in the game data. It's actually really cool to see provided you have everything matched. At this point, I often ask myself, would it be better to have a GameEx Romset for each emulator that matches the name list in the GameEx databases? All the best, IMBerzerk
  12. Jeeze... what did I miss now? I bury my head into some databases, and I find out that we also have 3d console artwork? I love the 3d Cabinets, where do I get the consoles from? Also... anyone know where that rom deleter is that matches your 'do not display' list for MAME roms? Thanks as always... IMB
  13. Whoa....
  14. Draco/Ben... Thanks for these great tips. I didn't know we even had a program that deletes ROMs from the excluded list!! As for the screensaver.... what is the difference between the internal and external. I have everything default for the screensaver. Does that mean it's internal? How would I know the difference. Thanks again... lean something new everyday around here. IMB
  15. I thought about this the other day, since there is no way in hell I'll ever go through every single game in my cabinet to check for porn, does the screen-saver filter the games and limit the ones it uses based on your active game list? Or does it just randomly select games from your ROM folders? Based on the fact I have not heard any screaming parents yet... or seen any drool puddles on the floor for that matter... I am assuming it does. Thanks, IMB
  16. @Adultery - This is the same fault you and I talked about a little while back. I never got it to work no matter how many times I recreated my list. Anyone else try re-running the update twice and have it work? It never worked for me. I threw in the towel and manually updated the list myself. IMB
  17. This is not just with periods. I'm seeing this issue as well with any punctuation at the end of the file. What's odd is that they show fine in the MAME list, but in other game lists, you loose the graphic. I suspect this is the case because the MAME roms are almost never the full name of the game. ablaster is astro blaster, pacman is Pac-Man, and so on... So for this... Bonanza Bros. - SMS Mr. Do! - Gameboy Barkley Shut Up and Jam! - SNES Armorines: Project S.W.A.R.M. - Gameboy It works fine if you add in something to the ROM name like this.... Mr. Do!.zip change to Mr. Do![!].zip or Bonanza Bros..zip to Bonanza Bros.[!].zip as long the last character in the name is not punctuation. You have to update the corresponding database with that same name in any of the three choices (usually No-Into is good to use) then all shows OK. You just can't leave the ROM ending in the punctuation. Of course don't forget to update your artwork as well. On a side note.... I've found as long as the 'Name' column matches other games in other emulators, 9 out of 10 it will link, and show the other platforms in the game info page. The ROM names do not have to be exact matches from platform to platform... BUT in some cases, it has to be exact. IMB

    Gamebase

I don't have it installed, but by the looks of it, it's more of a basic frontend than anything else. So no fancy graphics or anything, but it offers more categories to organize the games with. Tom put out a video of GameEx working over GameBase and it looked pretty good. But still, I don't know if there is a tremendous benefit over the simplicity of how GameEx sets things up. IMB
  19. Then it's not compiled to save the Hi-scores. If it is, then it will work for all games. BTW... the best MAME version for GameEx is native MAME. MAMEUI32 is OK to use, but it's like running a GUI over a GUI, whereas, if you run native MAME, it GameEx goes right into the core of the MAME program. Besides... it's 2 steps less to compile. IMB

    Coint Mech Hack

The other problem with the Home Depot stuff is matching. All 3 of my units have Happ locks on the coin doors and share the same key for access. My Data East unit has the upper and lower doors, my Strata Bowling (cafe) unit has the main coin door, plus the keyed 'deposit box' on the bottom, while the Stern cabinet is 1 door for access. All-in-all I have 5 locks all on the same master key. When you order them, you can state how many locks and keys, so buy as many as required +1 key for a spare to hide elsewhere, just in case you loose the others. They're numbered like auto keys as well, so you can always get another made by calling Happ with the key number on it. Meanwhile the HD stuff works great around the back of the cabinet for the access panel... or you can do another Happ as well. All depends on budget. IMB
  21. Queste sono tutte le regolazioni in GameEx. 1. Avete cloni attivi? L'aggiunta dei cloni è GIUSTA, ma raddoppia il numero dei giochi, ma aggiunge molte versioni difettose. Pac-Man ha oltre 20 versioni. IMB

    Coint Mech Hack

Most coin door have a set screw in them to change the width of what passes through it. Width determines the weight of the coin, which then allows the coin to either pass through, or be rejected. Speaking with US currency in mind, the quarter is heavy as it's been made of nickel plated steel since 1965. So the magnets in the door recognize the thickness by weight as size. Hence why pennies and nickels do not pass through. I'm pretty sure you can set the depth by looking for the set screw and testing. But it's a real pain in the a$$ as it's not an exact science. Another option is to use the BYOAC MAME coins if they still make them... BUT... you definately have to modify the coin slots to fit them as they are larger than a US Quarter. I had bought about 200 of these and returned them because of having to mod my cabinets. All three of them use the original door mechs, the oldest being my BerZerk cabinet... so there was no way in hell I was going to cut anything on them... total Bummer as they were really cool. Adultery... why not order a new set of locks from Happ? They make the correct looking keys and locks for Arcade cabinets. Anything you get from Lowe's or Home Depot doesn't look the same at all. IMB
  23. Ciao, Forse posso aiutare. Che cosa è il problema con MAME?
  24. The answer to your MAME question.... unless you compiled MAME, it won't show Hi-Scores on games that do not have NVRAM. Test with 2... Galaxian and Robotron. Robotron uses NVRAM, so you will see the hi-scores on a non-compiled MAME. Galaxian does not, so it will reset once you drop out of the game. If it shows the hi-score when you re-enter, then yes, you somehow have a compiled version with hi-score support. IMB
  25. Great! That's what I am looking for. I'm good once GameEx starts as is covers everything, but getting in and out is what I want to cover now. Just a seemless start-up and exit in and out of GameEx. IMB
