  1. When I update I always have to copy back my custom bezel. It would be nice if it was changed to write if it doesn't already exist. Would also be nice to have MarqueeDefault.png do the same as I use a custom logo for that too.
  2. Great update Tom!
  3. Two of my cousins have passed away from cancer. Pretty horrible. Strength comes from friends and family. Sounds like you're on the road to recovery though so we can be positive. As for "Why I love GameEX". It's a long story really. Will have to write a proper post about it when I get some time.
  4. Video card may be worth upgrading too. But you did mention it runs fine without GameEx running in the background.
  5. - Definately but also go to your motherboard manufacturers website and download the latest inf and other drivers. In your case you will need to search the Asus website for them (Asus Oxford is not enough you need the actual type Eg. "P4SD-LA") - Also download Process Explorer and check the CPU usage when running a game from GameEx. - Download Scanner and delete any unnecessary files (be careful). Then do a disk defrag. - Try disabling any anti-virus software. Quite often they check every file before you access it which can slow things substancially. - Perhaps try upgrading to 2 gig's of RAM if you can find some old RAM modules that suit your motherboard. You need two matching modules to run them in dual mode. ie. You probably have two 512 MB modules now, try and get another two 512 MB. Make sure they are the same type and brand when running them in dual.
  6. First make sure you have followed all the points in the first post. You will only get a list of games hosted by other people that you can join. Or you can try and host a game yourself and wait for someone else to join you.
  7. Try C:\roms\mame if it's a path on your C: drive
  8. I seem to miss these topics since we split the forum up Anyway glad to hear you had a good one Brian
  9. Most likely the keycodes you have set in MAME don't match the keycodes for your layout file in CPWizard.
  10. They're just folders in the MAME directory. You can get the latest "unofficial" controls.xml file from here Select are where you put images of the game's select screen. It's not necessary.
  11. For MAME press tab->Input to configure your controllers For your menu problem you might want to try mapping alt to another key. In the Setup Wizard select Custom->Emulator Setup then press the "Next >" button until you reach "Emulator Setup (3)". Select the emulator then the [...] button next to "Advanced Config". Then either remap the alt key using "Keyboard ReMap" or block it using "Block Keys"
  12. GameEx tells the plugin it's a vertical game. That just means when you launch a game that is vertical GameEx will go into cocktail mode. When you exit the game it will stay that way. Just means you don't have to change seats to select the next game (only when you launch a game in a different orientation).
  13. What you will need to do is use PlugInRotate to switch the FE into vertical mode and then you will have to set games to cocktail mode manually using the dip switches (there is not automated way to do this AFAIK). In mame.ini set it to "autosave" so when you exit it should keep that setting. Tom: I could update the PlugInRotate to go into cocktail mode instead of rotating left or right when launching a vertical game. If you can add a App_CMD_Type.RotateCocktail I can add that quite easily. So with PlugInRotate, and the new cocktail feature I think you will have the best possible solution for a 3 sided cocktail cab
  14. Check http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?showtopic=9047
  15. Sweet! Been nagging Tom about this feature for ages. I think "split screen" mode is probably a better description though. PS Added some screenshots to the first post
  16. What the plugin allows you to do is to rotate the GameEx screen to the orientation of the game you're launching. So when you exit the game GameEx will be the right way up so you don't have to move to the other side of your cabinet until you launch a game that uses a different orientation. For MAME you can have it auto rotate left or right using settings in mame.ini # # CORE ROTATION OPTIONS # rotate 1 ror 0 rol 0 autoror 0 autorol 0 flipx 0 flipy 0
  17. This is the sort of layout I was thinking of.
  18. It looks nice but perhaps it would be better to layout the keys in alphabetical order and make it more into a square shape so there is less area to travel from key to key? Would also look nice with a bezeled key graphic behind the text.
  19. Can someone take a screenshot of the keyboard and post it here please. Me wanna see!
  20. isamu if you check the first post there are screenshots showing you the settings in the Setup Wizard I have added "(see screenshot below)". Hopefully that makes it a bit clearer.
  21. The easiest way to find settings is to use the Setup Wizard's search feature. Typing in 'vmr9' will get you there.
  22. Here is a video made by DigitalGhost. It might help a few people out with getting CS-MAME working although the procedure to connect is slightly different in GameEx.
  23. What MPEG-2 codec are you using for DVD playback? Check in the Setup Wizard. Perhaps try the option "DVD Use FFDShow".
  24. I've found Zbyl's plugin to be pretty much perfect. The problem is when you "explode" a model some textures seem to be lost. This seems to be an issue with SketchUp though as you can explode it using it's own explode function and the same thing happens. The reason you have to explode is because grouped parts of the model cannot be analysed by plugins. I've seen that other export plugins require you to explode the model before running it also.
