  1. I first installed PBX on C which is my Samsung SSD. I got access violation errors when trying to access all the pinball systems. Even with UAC disabled. Except Steam, I kept everything out of the Program Files and Program Files(x86) directories. Drove me nuts trying to figure out why and I never did solve it. So, I moved PBX, Visual and Future over to my D drive which is the regular 7200rpm 2TB drive and everything runs fine. Using Windows 10 Pro. I left Steam over in its default install location on C\Program Files(X86). PBX loads FX2 without any problems. In Windows 10 Pro no need for registry edits. UAC can be turned off in Settings. I don't care if UAC is off on my pinball system. I'm sure if a hacker could blast through my firewall and encrypted router, UAC enabled ain't gonna matter anyway.
  2. I just fired up PBX, ran a Star Wars table, and shut it down: 14:47:53.7 12/18/2016: PinballX - Version 2.28 14:47:53.7 12/18/2016: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (15.9GB) 14:47:53.7 12/18/2016: Loading Settings 14:47:53.7 12/18/2016: Initialize Component 14:47:53.8 12/18/2016: Initialize Display 14:47:54.9 12/18/2016: Loading PlugIns 14:47:55.5 12/18/2016: Created DirectX BackGlass Window 14:47:55.5 12/18/2016: Created DirectX DMD Window 14:47:55.6 12/18/2016: CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700K CPU @ 4.00GHz 14:47:55.6 12/18/2016: GPU 1: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 14:47:55.6 12/18/2016: Displays: 2 14:47:55.6 12/18/2016: Load Game List 14:47:55.6 12/18/2016: Loading Database: Pinball FX2 14:47:55.7 12/18/2016: Loading Database: Pinball Arcade 14:47:55.7 12/18/2016: Loading Database: Visual Pinball 14:47:55.7 12/18/2016: Finding and matching artwork and videos 14:47:55.9 12/18/2016: Loading Game Statistics and Scores 14:47:56.6 12/18/2016: Loading Surfaces 14:47:56.7 12/18/2016: Finished Loading Surfaces 14:47:56.7 12/18/2016: Initialize Audio 14:47:56.8 12/18/2016: Set Keyboard Controls 14:47:56.8 12/18/2016: Initialize Joystick 14:47:56.9 12/18/2016: Auto configure Visual Pinball 14:47:56.9 12/18/2016: No Joysticks Attached 14:47:56.9 12/18/2016: Started 14:48:01.5 12/18/2016: Launch System 14:48:01.5 12/18/2016: Waiting for threads 14:48:01.5 12/18/2016: Disposing display 14:48:02.3 12/18/2016: D:\\DMDext.exe mirror --source=pinballfx2 --no-virtual --quit-when-done 14:48:02.3 12/18/2016: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steam.exe -applaunch 226980 STARWARS_Episode_4 14:48:14.6 12/18/2016: Found Pinball FX 2 Process 14:48:18.2 12/18/2016: Exit System Control Pressed 14:48:19.5 12/18/2016: Created DirectX BackGlass Window 14:48:19.6 12/18/2016: Created DirectX DMD Window 14:48:26.8 12/18/2016: Exiting 14:48:26.8 12/18/2016: Disposing Plugins 14:48:26.8 12/18/2016: Saving Settings 14:48:26.8 12/18/2016: Bye Maybe put a copy of DMDext into your root directory temporarily :c:\ and change the Launch before working path in PBX settings to there and see what happens? Maybe someone else will see something comparing our log files?
  3. Is FX2 working inside PBX without dmdext launch before enabled? I would attach your PBX log and init files so we can see the settings. My FX2 settings are posted earlier and they work OK for me.
  4. Something to do with that Steam link I'm guessing? I shut down for the night but can look at my system tomorrow if you don't have it solved by then.
  5. OK, got the grids figured out and it works. Since I have to run DX11 with dmdext.exe to use my pinDMD v3 I will just launch via scripts externally. I know PBA has been a real PITA for you and we appreciate the effort. I do have FX2, Future and Visual running great. Many Thanks, Harry
  6. Make sure the command prompt is at the same directory where dmdext is located. Try to put a copy in C:\ as a test. Error looks like the wrong directory is set.
  7. I can get PBX to launch the executable with no problem but is there a way to launch tables directly? It just goes to the main menu and I have to click on Arcade. I launched with interface version 3 per the log file. I've seen the other thread where there was beta testing back in October but no further explanation on how to set up? Are there supposed to be X Y grids in the PBA XML? Does FCM need to be installed? I haven't messed with it yet. log.txt Pinball Arcade.xml SetupWizard.xml
  8. Since you mentioned it I turned off compatibility mode in both executable's. I had disabled DPI scaling set in Future Pinball.exe but not FLLoader. I set that too. Now, the tables launch more correctly in PBX. Before, the wheel window was sitting on top while the FP table was loading. It doesn't do that anymore. Many thanks, Harry
  9. For Future Pinball download pinDMD.dll and openGL32.dll from pinDMD.com and put them in your Future Pinball directory. Create a file in Notepad and name it pinDMD.ini Put this text inside: [communication] comport=COM3 Which is where Windows will probably put it. Check your device settings to be sure. For FX2 the settings are: [PinballFX2] Enabled=true WorkingPath=C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam Executable=steam.exe Parameters=-applaunch 226980 [TABLEFILE] Process=Pinball FX2.exe Rotate=False WaitFor=12 LaunchBeforeEnabled=True LaunchBeforeWorkingPath=D:\ Or whatever directory you put DMDext LaunchBeforeExecutable=DMDext.exe LaunchBeforeParameters=mirror --source=pinballfx2 --no-virtual --quit-when-done LaunchBeforeWaitForExit=False LaunchBeforeHideWindow=False
  10. OK, after a little help from a tall Dos Equis draft I set FPLoader to XP service pack 3 compatibility mode and I can now launch the tables. It ain't pretty but it works. The Wheel menu says launching, disappears for a bit and then the wheel menu reappears and stays on top until after the table fully loads. [RESOLVED] I removed the XP compatibility on Future Pinball.exe and FLLoader.exe and made sure the scaling at higher DPI was disabled on both. PBX now launches tables correctly. Thanks to TerryRed for letting me know the XP compatibility is not needed to be set as it caused him problems with his Win 10 Pro.
  11. I found the V2-V3 interface bug also. Did what you explained and that fixed it..I set PBX to windowed and It can launch the DX9 version without the table selection. I cannot get it to launch the DX11 version. Not sure the settings to use? I have to launch steam.exe or PBS locks up. I need DX11 to run because I have a real DMD (pinDMD v3). Tomorrow I will rename ThePinballArcade.exe to DX9 and rename the DX11 to ThePinballArcade.exe. This should allow me to use DMDext. I still need an AHK script to select tables. If anyone has one please post. Thanks!

    Misc BAM issues

FP will not launch from the wheel menu but OK from Game Manager? Running WIN 10 Pro.
  13. SATURDAY UPDATE - I moved PinballX and Future Pinball over to my D drive and got rid of the process denied access error. Why that worked I have no clue? Now, I can launch a table from Game Manager but when I try it off the wheel menu it won't launch? Could you guys check my settings - especially the config file. Other than setting paths and parameters I haven't touched any other settings from the new install. PinballX.ini log.txt
  14. Hi Draco, I don't have Zaccaria set up yet but they do place an XML in the documents\Zacarria_Pinball directory. I wonder if we can work with that? Attached settings.xml
  15. I can speak to FX2 as I just set it up. Probably the easiest of them all. It must be set up for cabinet support from Zen. I have a pinDMD v3 with two monitors and FX2 works perfectly using PBX. You have to run DMDext.exe (by Freezy) before running FX2. For the back-glass there are many images or videos you can use for each table. I powered my pinDMD with a separate EVGA PC power supply. 5V from one side (red/black) of a 4 pin floppy drive Molex plug. I can post my PBX settings for FX2 after I get home. You will LOVE Virtuapin's DMD. It is BRIGHT! Give it 5V and plug into USB and it is ready to go. No drivers needed for Windows 10. I'm just getting started with Future Pinball and having some issues. Slamt1lt's tables are awesome! Haven't gotten to Visual yet. There is no direct support for Zaccaria tables but you can run it as a custom setting. I have the Zaccaria tables and about 40 Pinball Arcade. PBA also uses DMDext perfectly.
  16. To exit the FP table requires Esc. I tried assigning other keys but only Esc worked. Isn't that hard coded inside FP? I tried using the original FP exe and took FPloader out of the launching but I got the same results. Still got the denial in the log file. Everything is set to run as ADM - I think? I don't need permission to run any programs. EDIT Friday AM: What does this mean in my PBX log? I don't do Windows programming so I have to see what the Access denied means? c:\Games\Future Pinball\BAM\FPLoader.exe /open "c:\Games\Future Pinball\Tables\ACDC ULTIMATE 102.fpt" /play /exit /arcaderender /STAYINRAM 17:30:54.5 12/8/2016: Access is denied 17:30:54.5 12/8/2016: at System.Diagnostics.ProcessManager.OpenProcess(Int32 processId, Int32 access, Boolean throwIfExited) 17:30:54.5 12/8/2016: at System.Diagnostics.Process.GetProcessHandle(Int32 access, Boolean throwIfExited) 17:30:54.5 12/8/2016: at System.Diagnostics.Process.get_HasExited() 17:30:54.5 12/8/2016: at PinballX.Main.q() FP loads fine, but PBX drops back to the wheel menu temporarily, then goes back to the table after it finishes loading. It looks like PBX or Windows doesn't like something? Different user access levels for each program causing this? (I will have to check after work today) Are those FP command line switches OK?
  17. Thanks Tom. After I get Future and Visual setup I will give it a go...
  18. Have we given up on launching tables due to their interface redesign? Should I just set as a custom setup and launch the game direct and select tables within PBA? I also use DMDext which works perfectly with PBA.
  19. I have FX2 running perfectly with backglass and pinDMD v3. Next up is Future Pinball. A little painful to get going last weekend but got it running correctly. It runs great inside PBX but I have a few issues. When I launch a table, PBX shows loading and then temporarily drops back to the wheel menu and waits for the table to finish loading. Once the table loads it displays and runs perfectly. Is this normal? When I hit Esc to exit the game PBX is minimized. I have to click the icon from the task bar to display the wheel menu again. How do I fix this? I've attached my log file. What is this access denied stuff? I have unblocked and turned off user access control on everything I can think of? Also uploaded the XML and ini file Thanks! Harry . log.txt log.txt Future Pinball.xml PinballX.ini
  20. An extremely polished easy to use modern interface. One button downloads. Kudos! Highly appreciative.
  21. Many Thanks! I should have read down further.
  22. Happy Thanksgiving weekend and Black Friday! Just built a new system with 2 monitors and DMD v3. DMD with FX2 works perfectly on launch and while running FX2 within PBX. What do I need to add to kill the dmdext command window when exiting PinballX? What I tried doesn't work. Part of my iniit log: [PinballFX2] Enabled=True WorkingPath=C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam Executable=steam.exe Parameters=-applaunch 226980 [TABLEFILE] Process=Pinball FX2.exe Rotate=False WaitFor=20 LaunchBeforeEnabled=True LaunchBeforeWorkingPath=c:\ LaunchBeforeExecutable=dmdext LaunchBeforeWaitForExit=False LaunchBeforeHideWindow=False LaunchBeforeParameters=mirror --source=pinballfx2 --no-virtual LaunchAfterWorkingPath=c:\ LaunchAfterExecutable=dmdext LaunchAfterParameters=exit LaunchAfterWaitForExit=False LaunchAfterEnabled=True [Internal] lastwheelcachematchsize=-1123 lastselected=Guardians of the GalaxyMARVEL_GuardiansPinball FX2 filter_year= filter_company= filter_custom= filtername=Tables
  23. Thanks! I will check those out.
