  1. So I have that scares downtime at work, and with my renewed vigor in GameEX/MAME and a CNC machine at my disposial in the shop, I thought I'd give a Arcade cabinet a try. Today I spent my time designing the 0.3 version. It's based with a 32" LED Monitor and for two players. I was looking for some feedback and if anyone else has built one of these and can give me a heads up of what I should watch out for. This is not a finished design in any means, just a work in progress that I wanted to share, feelings won't be hurt by the comments, any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Full galleries can be found below at each version. -- Updates -- 130603-0630 v0.1 - First 130603-2300 v0.2 - Edges Expanded for sturdyness, frame now sits flush with the control panel so your wrist don't bump up against it while playing. 130604-1015 v0.3 - control panel leveled out (not so angled down) 130604-1444 v0.3.1 - Controller placement added. 130604-1614 v0.3.2 - Graphics and a more extensive paint job, joystick and button cut holes added in desired location. 130617-1800 v0.4 - Recreated every piece to better recreate in the real world. Measurements, cut angles and edges. Things fit together better. 130617-2131 v0.4.1 - Added fillet to pieces to give everything a better and more realistic looking edge.
  2. I'll throw it up tonight.
  3. I noticed if I switched to version 1 or 2 theme I do not have this issue, but ver. 3 or 4 has this issue.
  4. I think Game EX is one of the best MAME/Emulator FrontEnds out there, but XBMC is by far the best Media Center out there. TV Show issues, I use a piece of software called TheRenamer that auto searches my TV episode download folder and renames and moves each file to it's proper folder which XBMC auto scans (This is all an automated process, just have to set it all up). MKV audio... Is it really hard to switch the language with a single push of a button. Any software is going to default to whatever the #1 on the list audio language is. Advanced Launcher sucks, use the GameEX plugin to switch to GameEx when you want to play games. YouTube app will not allow for mature content if you don't put your username and password into the setting to allow for mature content, just as if you are on the website and are not logged in. Newest XBMC supports TV Tuners and DVR fuction. -Does all the fan art and other information from TVDB show up inside Game EX? - XBMC Does -Does Game EX support IMDB and other databases for cover art, fan art and the like? - XBMC Does Again, I love GameEX for gaming, but XBMC is the clear winner as a Media Center, the extended amount of other features that XBMC has... Why try and recreate the wheel. Just my 2 cents.
  5. Am I the only one having a custom menu with background issue? I'll except it's something I did, but none of the themes work with the custom menu. Any help would be great.
  6. I'm working on a new theme but with my custom menu, the background image is not always showing. Is their a specific name I need to give the background image for the custom menus? Below is a link to visual explain what I'm talking about. Thanks. https://jumpshare.com/b/TkECtbadgoXD1v7LTx9d
  7. I was able to get their Linux version (Raspbian) running last night. (Coming from someone that has never used linux till last night) I would be under the assumption that any emulators that could run in that envirorment would work on Pi. It would be nice to have a Stand Alone version(i.e. RasPBMC), where you just see a GameEX-esk frontend, but baby steps I guess.
  8. This is kinda an open ended question and I'm am going into it with no knowledge or just googling it... But has anyone has some time with the Raspberry Pi? I bought one today and have been messing around with it 9 hours, the most I've done so far is put a port of XBMC on it and got it to work. We've been starting to attempt to use Arduinos at work to run our LED fixtures, so I figured I'd order one of these and give it a try... But back to my title topic, it would be very cool to have a MAME and emulators on this, even a GameEX port. If I could carry around the Pi and a hard drive of all my games, that would be make this much simpler to travel with. Currently if I want to travel with GameEX I have to bring an entire laptop with the external drive, not the biggest deal, but that would be a huge decrease in footprint. Anyway, what's your 2 cents on the Raspberry Pi?
  9. I love both XBMC and GameEX. I added this to the main screen favorites/shortcuts under the confluence skin. if i open it from the main screen then exit out of it, it brings me to a blank progam menu window, instead of the main screen. If i open it from the program window and exit out it brings me back to a populated program window. Any way from the shortcut to bring you back to the home screen, I know it's just a single buttoin to get back, but i thought i'd ask.
  10. Looks great, simple(in a good way) and to the point.
  11. Draco is right, and your easiest bet is the custom menus, very point and shoot kinda interface.
  12. Stick a fork in me, I'm done...again https://www.dropbox....ns9z/tGXBVIbd79 Check the first post, I've updated the full info there, it has attached larger files to look at as well. Let me know if you see anything to add, but I think I'm gonna have to call this done for awhile, and focus on some other things.
  13. "For What it's Worth" I'm doing an update to these Logos Will have higher quality lighting with better reflections. Hopefully this will give it a more realistic look. Also will be saved as a high resolution PNG at 960x640 and 5 different angles to choose from to best support your Theme of choice. Will let you know when the updates are available, but you can take a look at some previews below. (The attached image is much larger view then what's the forum can show)
  14. So the no show, was defiantly because of the custom menus. Only a few banners show up, (No Portal 2 banner, ect..) I actually didn't try to see if a game would play, not sure why, but I'll try when I get home this-evening.
  15. Just doing an update incase people are using these. Here is the updated link: https://www.dropbox....kmp3/7epDiqAc0i Also added a "Steam" logo with the new integration.
  16. I am using custom menus, so that is probably the issue. one of the themes I created.
  17. I have not seen a Steam menu show up in GameEx.
  18. I keep my Steam games on my external(D:) drive, I wonder if that's causing the issue. I don't know why it has double \.
  19. 22:52:43.3 9/23/2012: Checking if Steam enabled 22:52:43.3 9/23/2012: Steam is installed correctly 22:52:43.3 9/23/2012: Invalid or filtered path: 22:52:43.3 9/23/2012: Found: d:\\steam\\steamapps\\common\\mass effect 22:52:43.3 9/23/2012: Found Steam game. 20. So just going around updating the PC, I see Game EX now has auto-download on art and Steam. That's all really great! I've been trying to get Steam working on end with no luck. When I type in my username and password in the setup config. Nothing happens inside of GameEX. I double checked my username and password with the steam client, so at least on that end it's ok. One thing I did notice: When I type in my password in setup. If I exit setup and then go back into setup (before going into GameEX) my (hidden)password length is what it should be. BUT if I type my password into setup then exit and go into GameEX, then back into setup, my Steam (hidden)password is twice as long. Just thought I'd see if anyone had an idea. Great update, otherwise speaking.
  21. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/0a0eieb47m7kmp3/7epDiqAc0i Hey guys, yea it's busy season at work, so I've been MIA but sorry for the dead link, here ya go!
  22. I use Project64 1.6 and have never had an issue.
  23. I told my buddy to stand in front of the screen to get a scale. But it was fun, just a bunch of beers, GameEX, and everyone just sweating in the damn humidity of Chicago. The best, was we were playing GoldenEye, and realize that just one of our screens of the 4-player split screen was bigger then the entire screen we use to play 4 player on. haha
  24. So I decided to grab a projector from work and a bed sheet from the linen closet, and set it up outside for a little holiday mid-week party in the backyard with friends. These pictures don't give it justice how awesome it was to sit in lawn in the back yard playing a 5ft tall game of street fighter.
