So this book just got released and I just can't put it down. The idea comes from Director/Producer J.J. Abrams and written by Doug Dorset. It's a novel written by a fictional writer with a conversation between "two" strangers in the margin of the book. OFFICIAL: A young woman picks up a book left behind by a stranger. Inside it are his margin notes, which reveal a reader entranced by the story and by its mysterious author. She responds with notes of her own, leaving the book for the stranger, and so begins an unlikely conversation that plunges them both into the unknown. This has to be one of the most unique pieces of media I've come across in awhile and just had to share. Let me know if anyone else picks this up. I'm flying to LA on Monday then the red-eye back on Wednesday, so hoping to have it finished by then.... Now back to the story. S. by J. J. Abrams Link: http://amzn.com/0316201642

Can someone please help me - MAME version and ROM compatiability
naborneo replied to Jeromebechaz's topic in General
The problem everyone is having here it trying to help you while walking that thin line of the TOS for this forum. Your MAME folder should look like below. * < > we'll use these to mean folder <MAME>||---<ROMS> | |----Game1.zip |----Game2.zip |----Game3.zip |----<Game1> | |----blahblahblah.chd |----<Game2> | |----blahblahblah.chd |----<Game3> | |----blahblahblah.chd -
DMC Devil May Cry is probably one of the best games I've played in awhile, not really because of the game play, but the storytelling and dialog was amazing. The story was good and it's very rare to find that well of dialog in a game, I can't express that enough, it seemed natural/movie-like. Someone hired a screenwriter for this game, didn't have a programmer throw some dialog together to try the game together... Also holiday steam sales rock!!

ClrMamePro is what I use to verify my ROM set. But it is not very user friendly. But it gives you a nice dialog i've pasted below. Howler Arcade Controller is now LIVE on Kickstarter!
naborneo replied to engg100's topic in Social Club
Where can I find RGB buttons?? If this works in the fact that it only illuminates the buttons that will be use for said game, that's pretty sweet... But something tells me that is a manual thing to do, that you would have to do that for each game you play. I could be wrong.- 8 replies

Just to clarify until an image is printed dpi/ppi doesn't(kinda) matter. A 1920px x 1080px 72dpi is still a 1920px x 1080px at 300dpi. So you will never find an image that says it's 300dpi obviously you want more pixels, but 1 pixel is just 1 pixel till it's printed. One thing you might want to try, is print your cabnet on a standard 8.5x11 piece of paper, but do not tell the program to "scale to fit", print "actual size". This should allow you to print out a 8.5"x11" section of your cabnet to see what it will tool like. Where I work we have a 10' printer, we are pretty comfortable printing something out at 150dpi but it's usally something that gets hung and your a good +10 feet away from it. With yours though, your gonna have your nose right up in it. Good luck.

Very cool cab stigzler... I just wanted to jump in in a technical way. I downloaded your svg and wanted to let you know that you hadn't as much vectorized a bitmap, as you have placed a bitmap in a vector file. I've attached a scaled/zoomed section below. If you do end up printing this, it will be pixelated as you see below. I just want to give you that heads up before you spend money to have this printed, you might be disappointed. Adobe Illustrator has what is called an "ImageTrace" feature which is what you would want to do, to convert a bitmap to vector...BUT it will never even come close to the original. Their is no program out there that will perfectly take a bitmap image into vector without some nasty interpolation. You would be better off creating a 300 dpi/ppi photoshop(or equivalent lossless format) file for print. Vectors are more for logo-esk images with very little gradient in color, rasterized is much better for what you are trying to produce. Sorry to be the downer here, but I just didn't want you to spend the money and be disappointed in the outcome.

I did come across this, and it's great. So that little check is covered then. -
GameEx NetPlay - Client/Server MAME/Mess

Has this been 'discontinued' none of the links seem to work? I know i'm a little late to the game, so it's understandable. -

A "Just Play" button. So if I'm hovering over a games name on the large list of MAME games, If I click Button 1 it does what it does now, and goes to the next page and shows me the info of the game, options to look at other metadata, and play the game. What if at the game list and I pressed "Start"(or whatever button) Instead of bring me to the info page, it just started the game instead? Just to take out one less menu for games we already know and love. -

Any chance for Game Playlist? Just as you can add a game to favorites, how about add to Playlist? Your 2D Fighter Playlist, and your Best of the 80s playlist, Tournament 2013 Playlist. You get the idea. -

Could we add a "Table of Contents" or some sort of drop-down menu at the beginning of the SetupWizard so you may jump to a section in the Wizard? Just so when I need to make one little change to an emulator I'm not clicking the forward button 14 times to get their? -
It's all about Blast Chamber, one of the best party games, that really needs an HD reboot

Maybe I'm just not playing the same games, but I've never had to mess around with setting in ePSXe. I set it up awhile back and haven't touched it sence... All games seem to work just fine, maybe that's just me and the games I've chose.

Yea I picked up Street Fighter IV... ohhh Street Fighter X Tekken is on sale as well... ohhhhh The Complete DLC is also on sale for Street Fighter IV.... well now I also have to get the DLC for Street Fighter X Tekken, duhh. ...Hey Steam, why are you holding my $40... oh yea, darn it.

Ive had that issue when xpadder didn't exit properly after exiting an emulator, every movement was jumping around the screen, freaked me out at first haha.
-
Yea, the on/on option is also the original post issue. I'm not sure if it's because the database is not complete or what. The database internal file names which where their matched the file names of the MAP file, although the MAP was much more complete. I'm outta troubleshooting ideas.
-
i reedited my last post, I tried with part success.
-
Edited: With the datebase on and the MAP off, the game list (kinda)shows up correctly with metadata, BUT because my ROMs are all in the MAME folder, it thinks I have 28,546 games, the ones in the database show the full name while the rest show the filename minus ".zip" With the database off and the MAP on, the game list shows up correctly with no metadata and the correct 175 game list. With database on and MAP on the game list shows up correctly with some having incorrect metadata with the correct 175 game list. Also the choice of game is based on the metadata that is showing not what is chosen from the list it's self. I am using Flash's new database I just find it strange I'm the only one with this issue. My roms are complete to .150 and checked based on ClrMamePro. Owe well, I guess I'll just stick with the MAP file.
-
Remind me to take your advice in order next time. Turing off "Use Database Name" fixed the entire list. Where is this database that was causing so many issues? How is this different then a MAP file? Also, should I be using the db or can I call it a day? Thanks null, I owe you one.
-
It opens up the game of the artwork and description not the one that is chosen on the list. That's the first thing I thought.
-
As far as MAP files goes, I decided to go the tedious route and add one name at a time from the FULL list. I got about 5 down before it started to flip games on me.
