  1. how about an option to modulate scroll speed according to how long you hold up/down direction down. this is normally how media nav apps handle this
  2. i notice gameex is no longer blocking my screensaver, if i just leave gameex open (i have set to just turn monitor off). this seems to have changed within the last few versions. intended, or a control ive missed? edit: im possibly going mad and gameex hasnt changed here, sorry..!
  3. i think customisable menus are the main thing everyone is waiting for about most played.. maybe you could date(a)base it and offer "last week/last month/year/ever" options or something like that?
  4. i force kill gameex a lot and have never had a list go bad yet would be easy to script a list delete for session, not sure if gameex takes time to regenerate the non-mame lists.
  5. yeah i just didnt want to figure out how to do this WMP playlist crap, i was happy with it just (randomly) playing a folder of music. edit: the controls do not show when i set Jukeboxmode=1 any other ideas? i checked the theme, doesnt seem to be that. i was actually trying to clean up the menu to get everything important on one page... still working on customizable menus i hope? and this is the first time i think ive seen the cursor work properly - through various gameex versions its been flickery (mostly) a plain white system cursor, and now a stable enhanced cursor, woo i guess the flickery cursor was you trying to hide and cursorxp fighting back.. not sure. anyway please leave as is as seems to work now.
  6. yes, i had a non-existant drive in my audio path, removed that, now doesnt crash. thanks Tom, you always the man! now off to see how to randomise which music is played or turn it off before i go crazy edit: new problem. its playing music, but i cant see the controls. i have show media controls turned on in configurator. i can push where the controls are, and they work. i just cant see them! ideas please? edit2: also, jesus christ, you fixed the cursorXP curso flicker! mmmmm mmmm i love you tom.
  7. ahhh Jukeboxmode=2 is what was crashing gameex. when i change that, it crashes on load interesting!
  8. i'm scared enough of the config app that before running it i always backup my config, because too often after saving the config, gameex crashes on load (not gameex's own error log, an actual crash msg). so then i restore my backup config and try again. also i find it much quicker to just edit an .ini with notepad. i can't really say anything is wrong with your configurator, except for producing files that crash gameex, and taking longer to find the setting i want. i do all my maintenance over VNC and the response time is quite slow to mouse clicks within gameex or the configurator.

    5.24

thankyou, you did see my post, amoungst all that... stuff
  10. night, any real bugs or good suggestions will go into the correct place or new thread, i just want to use this rather than starting new threads for every little thing that may not even be an issue.. like: I can't get the Jukebox to dissapear from start menu.. EnableJukeBox=False still shows.. what stupid thing am i missing?! edit: i found an extra option in the configurator, but when i use that gameex crashes on load. will investigate later. if someone can just tell me the config line for turning off jukebox that would be appreciated (one above doesnt work).
  11. hmm 5.22 the way you were hiding the desktop seemed fine to me, i'll try this later :/ maybe you need option for desktop hide method or something. update: ok 5.23 seems ok aswell for me, except two things: 1) its possible to leave your desktop black - not the worst thing in the world, but something i saw. update: yeah still black after changing desktop colour.. what's up with that?! 2) having problems transitioning in and out of Fusion (Sega emulator). anyone else seeing this? (stuck on black screen, fusion running and using lots of cpu time). not sure if this is new or gameex problem because havent used fusion in a while. have to force kill fusion.exe, then gameex comes back fine. (showdesktop=false, this def used to work ok a few months ago).
  12. does this a few times on gameex exit aswell.
  13. every time i start gameex i get 11 system event log entries: (from oldest to newest) The WMI Performance Adapter service was successfully sent a start control. The WMI Performance Adapter service entered the running state. The WMI Performance Adapter service entered the stopped state. The WMI Performance Adapter service was successfully sent a start control. The WMI Performance Adapter service entered the running state. The WMI Performance Adapter service entered the stopped state. The WMI Performance Adapter service was successfully sent a start control. The WMI Performance Adapter service entered the running state. over the space of less than a minute (i can give more exact times if it helps) just wondering if this is normal, and why the system is doing it WinXP SP2, lots of services are disabled. .net v1.1
  14. just updated from 5.18 to 5.22 good: transition into and out of ZoomPlayer and PJ64 seems good, no desktop, quick, and no more sound stutter, woohoo! bad: flickery CursorXP cursor again. still not 100% sure this gameex fault, can i roll back to find out (is it safe to install 5.18 over 5.22 for example?) not fully tested yet not installed .net 2.0 yet (is it safe?!) update: had gameex 5.22 silently crash (left snes9x running for several hours, when exiting game, gameex was not there, nor its thread either). never seen that before. ideas? :/ (btw in case it helps, gameex could not have exited voluntarily because i have a script which gameex runs to shut down the system when gameex exits gracefully). tried a few more times with snes9x runnig for short periods of time and can't recreate.
  15. two more Qs: 1) anyone know why running GameEx would cause "WMI performance adapter" service to start and stop several times each gameex run on my htpc? 2) any way to use category.ini instead of the (apparently dead and dated) catver.ini?
  16. don't worry.. that's ridiculous, and was way over the top the first time i see it. (not to mention, GameEx is much more than MAME launcher for me )
  17. thanks djrobx, added to requests.
  18. for custom input, joystick, please allow mapping up/down/left/right to buttons e.g. for d-pad, pov hat etc. also req. by djrobx thanks
  19. mmm mmmmm, Custom Start menu goodness
  20. for custom input, for joystick, doesnt allow changing up/down/left/right? id like to be able to use the dpad instead of analogue stick for gameex navigation, much more intuitive, please. edit: btw, dpad on Adaptoid is 4 buttons, in case that matters, thanks (didn't post to feature requests because not sure its not possible!) edit: btw, as promised, a link on pj64.net, should be bringing you some new users (we may rearrange links a bit later)
  21. havent had any further problem like this since disabling directinput option in gameex - but then, doesnt happen that often anyway and have changed several other things like GameEx version.
  22. does this mean we will have to update .net to 2 ? damn, my machine is pretty stable now :/ does .net v2 offer anything interesting/positive, to you or the user?
  23. yeah sorry my bad also, not looking closely enough to get a good fix on it. will try this later and see how many more games i get
  24. ahhh that could be my mystery missing game problem.. thanks Tom!
  25. interesting, since upgrading to 5.14 i now see a normal windows/plain white mouse cursor in gameex, and its not flickering, so thats fine is that something you changed Tom? edit: no, only first time after starting gameex. after that its back to flickery :/ edit3: it seems like you fixed something in 5.14, i consistently see a standard system pointer now, not as pretty as the CursorXP pointer, but useable and flicker-free
