  1. There is no really good way to do a keyboard -> gamepad input. All of the programs out there are set up to do gamepad -> keyboard (xpadder is probably the best of the bunch). You can do gamepad -> gamepad via ppjoy, but I never got it working. I would suggest using xpadder and mapping all gamepad buttons to keyboard inputs and then assigning those keys in nulldc. Brian or Nologic would have better suggestions though as I know they've played with nulldc directly (I still play with the actual console, so I've never looked at the emulator).
  2. I just tried to compile 122 and it broke on the hiscore.c file.the only patch I applied was hi_119.diff, so obviously I did something wrong. Is there a new version of the diff file that I should be using?
  3. If you are building a cab, you will have $15+ in parts that happs supplies, so you could go through them. I didn't, but that's because I only needed buttons and I wanted to avoid paying shipping twice. I got my encoder board from GroovyGameGear.com and bought my buttons at the same time. If you want quick disconnects, get them at the same time since they are reasonably priced. I found them locally, but it took a long time since 0.187" is an odd size apparently (automotive uses 0.25"). They have some nice products like the GP-Wiz series.
  4. Other than having no way to view or hear the games, this sounds like an awesome setup
  5. I just hope you have backups for that data. It would be a shame to have a drive die and loose 1TB of porn...err, I mean downloads!
  6. If you have access to a table saw and a drill press (or a circular saw and a hand drill if you're cheap/broke), you can make your own for much less. It's REALLY not as hard as people make it out to be. I was a bit scared to try, but mine turned out beautiful! Of course, if you live in a downtown apt, that might make it more difficult with noise restrictions and the mess inside your place. The thing is, if you screw everything up when cutting, your only out ~$20 and some time. As long as you get it close and you plan on painting it anyway, you can cover all mistakes up with putty and primer! If you have your heart set on paying someone else for labor, I would check arcade controls. They have lists of vendors for panels and I think there are even reviews if I remember. If not, there are tons of people on the forum if you need comments. I've only ever seen the XArcade dual stick in person. It feels pretty well made. If I were buying one, I would go for the tank stick since it's got the trackball built in.

    CCCP & GameEx

Ewwww, Mamewah Actually, there's lots of people who use it and love it, but it's a bitch to set up. I found GameEx and, although I've still looked at other stuff since, nothing else comes close!
  8. Oh, so it is a class action suit. WOW!
  9. Oh, well that is old news. I thought there was something new that had come down the pipe. There have been complaints about the timeliness of orders forever, but it's purportedly worse now. I thought there may have been a huge class action or something. However, I didn't realize that they didn't have a business license (doesn't surprise me though).
  10. Want to elaborate on the part about SlikStik?
  11. I tried HidXP 1.0 and 1.1 and they seemed to work okay. I eventually switched back to Tom's program (Instant Sheller) since I wasn't using the new features anyway. All of the things this program can do can be done manually and are documented in the tutorials section of the GameEx main site. Also, you can enable only certain features with this program. SO, you could try only installing a couple features at a time to see which one(s) are causing the problem. There's no way to solve a problem that isn't properly bounded...

    Rankings.ini

This looks really interesting. I've grabbed the file an will play with it, but it looks like a really nice list. Thanks!
  13. The discoloration is caused by the magnetic field changing the path of the electrons inside the tube. Basically, the gun at the back of the CRT emits electrons based on the source signal. When the magnets interfere with their trajectory, you can see the field on the CRT. This does not affect other types of displays. However, it is possible the magnets could cause other types of issues with other displays (interfere with the actual electronics). I have never seen that happen or read any accounts of it either. If you want to read up on it a little more, this seems to be a pretty good article.
  14. You can turn MAME off...it's an option. Run the Configuration Wizard and search for screen saver. I don't have GameEx on my work machine (go figure ), so I can't give you the exact page. However, using the search, you should be able to narrow it down to ~3 pages to check.
  15. Here comes the lawn mower...
  16. Ehh, never checked, but I've answered the question enough times to know it's here somewhere. No worries. Actually, it should be covered in the tutorial, but I don't think it is.
  17. AWESOME!!!!! Hopefully now that the GameLauncher array bounds problem is fixed, I'll be done with my driving cab. Time for a party...wooohoooo <pending check > There are some really nice features here. I hope everyone appreciates this stuff as much as I do. And what good timing. Right before I have over a week off.
  18. sweat...
  19. This has been covered MANY times and a search could have found the answer. BUT, yes, you can copy your directory over to the new system/location and then install over top of it. That should work fine.
  20. Just wanted to bump this back to the top. Is this still in the works? It would be a shame to have the work go to waste...
  21. I don't think there's any way to disable hide desktop for MAME. I could be wrong though. Actually, now that I think about it, there should be. If you go to Advanced MAME Options or Enable/disable features, it should be in there.
  22. Nice! I'll have to give it a go...again!
  23. This sounds like a driver problem to me. Perhaps you should check to make sure that your video card has all the drivers installed correctly and that DirectX doesn't have a problem with your card. Another thing you can try is to copy your GameEx Directory to another location (rename "C:\Program Files\GameEx" to "C:\Program Files\GameEx1") and reinstall GameEx. See if that makes a difference. If so, there's something in your configuration that's breaking GameEx.
  24. Come to think of it, I wasn't able to see any custom lists either when I tried GL mode. I switched back since it wasn't working right for me and it wasn't a style I liked anyway (compared to the standard GameEx interface). I don't think I saw update list either, so you're probably right. This sounds like something Tom will have to address when he gets a minute.
  25. I don't see why it would make a difference, but have you tried updating your list after switching to GameLauncher mode? This probably won't help, but at least it's something you could try in the meantime.
