You don't have to compile this script, you can simply run it with AutoIt. If it's giving an error when you try to run it, that's a different matter.

Well, at least your one step up on guys that try to build a cab without woodworking OR emulation experience. That would be a truly hellish experience (if you want to do it right and get something a significant other wouldn't constantly remind you about anyway). Having some experience with one or the other makes it manageable.

You can either go to the start menu under GameEx, or you can go to the GameEx directory and it should be at: "C:\Program Files\GameEx\DATA\runitgame.bat". Just looking from your log file, you have "-tripplebuffer" turned on. Go to the setup wizard and remove this from your MAME command line. You should be golden after that.

If you started from scratch without any emulator experience, 7 weeks isn't bad! The thing is, emulators are not a end user type product. They are a work in progress that usually don't leave beta levels (if they even leave alpha), so they are not polished like something you would buy from EA, Microsoft, Apple, etc. I bet it took more than 7 weeks to become comfortable with just grabbing your tools and building a cabinet in a day. I would consider that a reasonable comparison anyway. Btw, thanks for your suggestions. I've used caulk for other things, but I guess I didn't realize it could be painted. In retrospect, my older cab had caulk on it around the seams, so I guess it's not a new technique for cabs. My newer cab was probably cut out with a CNC since everything is pretty precise on it.

I have everything working for MUGEN except for one thing. In GameEx, I have MUGEN setup as an emulator with the command line and path pointing to the executable. I have it set as "Treat as 1 PC game" and "Don't display detail page" (or whatever the phrase is). When I launch, everything seems fine. The problem is that when I quit, it goes back to the MUGEN details page with only MUGEN as an item in the list. I can launch back into MUGEN, but I can't get back to the main menu by pressing the back button or the combo home button press (select + back as I recall). I can hit escape on the keyboard and it works fine, but I don't want to go to this menu either way. SO, what setting am I missing. If it's needed, I can grab my emulator setup if someone who has theirs working could take a look. Or, maybe someone that has it running could just up their emulator config and I could take a look compared to what I have. Thanks!

The sides aren't really the concern since, as you said, symmetry looks beautiful! The problem is the center pieces that all have to be the same width. I guess one option is, like you said, having the home store/lumber yard cut the 4x8 sheets to the width of the cabinet. Then all you have to do is cut them to length. Agreed, this would work very well for a basic cabinet, but I've always liked the ones with some detail (like my Atari that has the coin box bump out), so if I were to build one, that would be a bit of a challenge (without drawings anyway). The other part is finishing it, though. Side art can be expensive and hard to apply without wrinkles and solid colors can look blah. Then again, that's what a good marquee and some lighted buttons are for.

If things in GameEx control correctly, then the FAQ won't help. It sounds like a problem with the way the game is being launched somehow. I would suggest launching an offending game from GameEx, immediately quitting, and then the "Run Last Game.bat" file from the GameEx start folder. If you still have a problem, then it's due to the way you are launching the game (which is probably different than the way it's launched from MAME32). If it doesn't freak out, then it may be related to resources or something. But, take it one step at a time and try the RunLastGame first.

That's could be the image using the wrong background color, so it's not detecting as transparent. Sound possible? That picture kinda wigged me out for a second. It's got Paint showing through slightly...weird.

Doable yes, but not easy for the non-carpenter. With the *wrong* tools, that's a lot of cut's in complex shapes that *will* get screwed up! With a CNC, I could build some SWEET stuff though! Actually, with a panel cutter and/or a decent table saw, I could probably do just as good a job. Files and sand paper fix a lot of things, but perfectly straight edges are a challenge freehand...

Speaking as a non-carpenter with only half the tools needed, I find repairing cabs fun but building a bit daunting. The computer side is the easy/fun/pain-in-the-ass part. Building a simple cabinet would be easy if you aren't a perfectionist about straight edges or have a table/panel saw available, but building something like an Atari or NeoGeo cabinet is a different story!

I was actually looking at that last night. I have video previews for all my systems, but they aren't playing ATM. I'm currently writing it off as not having the right path setup, but I didn't get a chance to look. I'll take a look next time I fire the cab up and take a look into it. When I do that, I'm going to be trying Amos' theme at 640x480, so I should be able to see if I can get it working with a similar config.

Maybe if you cut back on the coffee and piss you wouldn't be so abrasive!

Wait a minute... Is it rolling fast, or just slowly? I was thinking you meant it was moving fast and illegible. Is it just scrolling slowly across with everything viewable as it goes or is it flashing by with possibly messed up images?

I figured you were playing with ZiNc on that quad core system you were compiling MAME on earlier.

Make sure you cover creating configs for emulators. I haven't tried that yet cause I never end up having enough time in a single stretch to accomplish anything
