  1. Maybe, but I would look at the resolution the card is actually outputting before I purchased a new TV. If the card is outputting the wrong resolution, it may wrap the data all funny. For instance, if I set my XBox to 1080i (a resolution my TV doesn't support), it will look AFU! That isn't a problem with the card or the TV, just a bad setting. I agree that the TV could be the problem, but I wouldn't spend a bunch of money buying a new one and having to deal with disposal of the "junk" one until the resolution is checked out first. There might be nothing wrong with the set...
  2. Rolling displays means the wrong refresh rate and/or resolution usually (assuming no hardware is actually broken). I did have a CRT back in the day that started having problems with horizontal hold and had to be sent back to the manufacturer to get fixed. If your TV is working with other inputs, I would rule this out, though.

    OT: Tokens

I've never seen them for less than $0.25/token, so I never considered it. The other thing you should be aware of is that you can't use the same coin mech for both coins and tokens. They use different validators, so you will have to purchase the appropriate one if that's not what you already have. If you currently have a validator that works with quarters and you want to switch, you are looking at ~$.25/token + 2 validators/machine (assuming it's a standard 2 player cab). I can't seem to locate the Happs token validator, but the quarter unit is $18/ea. If you bought 100 tokens (probably a good minimum number, but you might want more), you would be looking at $18*2 + $0.25*100 = $61 + S&H = ~$75-80. It seems to me that you would have to lose a LOT of quarters to make it worth the hastle of switching over. BUT, that's just my opinion and part of the reason I never worried about quarters/tokens and instead just added switches on the CP or coin reject button.
  4. I was just doing a bit of research and found a detailed article about using the 'net' command. One thing they mentioned was that for use on XP and 2003, you can use WSH, which they describe as having "arguably better support". Anyway, just thought I would point that out since they even include an example script. WSH documentation
  5. You can use anything you want in GameEx so long as it supports CLI and some that don't using scripting and/or hacks. The list is a set of premade config's that nologic put together that get you up and going quickly. If you want to use a different emu, you will just have to manually configure it, which is not hard but takes a few minutes more than clicking the item in the list. Maybe Nologic would consider creating a setup for kat5200 and/or NeoRage if he reads this and feels so motivated, but I would just take a few minutes and set it up yourself using the setup from another emu as a reference.
  6. I forgot that GridWars is a non-commercial app which means that it doesn't necessarily work out of the box...errr, archive?
  7. I wasn't so much calling you out as poking fun
  8. Looks like the author of XPadder has decided to stop working on the program. I don't know when this happened, so it may be considered old news, but I was not expecting to see the message when I went to grab an updated version. Apparently it's available for sale...the whole thing! I don't know what that means as far as future use, but looking at what Digital Leisures did...

    9.11 error

    Post your log file.
  10. I forgot about those ones Amos. I think the only difference between those and what he requested was that he wanted characters (specifically non-fighting). I personally like those though...
  11. First thought would be try reinstalling it since something could have become corrupted.

    Emumovies Help

It's not the codec that's the problem so much as the tray icon that it uses. As I recall, whenever you initialize the codec, it steals focus from GameEx. The CCCP installation (among others) does not have this system tray component, so it doesn't steal focus. This is from memory, so I would suggest reviewing that thread for better info.
  13. Ok, I admit it. I was exaggerating.
  14. I don't know how well this would work or how to implement it, but perhaps what you want to do is run a script to check for the existence of those shares and map to them if they exist. When mapping the drive, map as a temporary drive rather than a "reconnect at login" drive. That way Windows won't check each time. I don't know how to map drives in AI/AHK/VBScript, but this should be pretty easy to find online since this is the type of thing network admins would want to do and they are usually the ones helping on those types of forums (e.g., www.experts-exchange.com, help forums at AI and AHK homepages). Now I can't say that this will be any faster than just using the permanently mapped drive. You would probably have to write the script and time things. Alternately, just map the drives when they are actually needed OR do what I do and create a shortcut rather than a mapped drive. The drive is really just a convenience anyway, so using a shortcut from the desktop should be fine for most things. (EDIT: Just read that TimmyB suggested this part already)
  15. 'Game Over' probably means he's using a GameEx plug-in, right?

This has been covered many times and should have popped up with a quick search...BUT, this sounds like you are using the official Divx codec that has a system tray icon. The resolution that a lot of people went with was to install CCCP which is a huge codec pack that includes Divx among others. I believe the following thread should help: link
  17. can't? A lot of the stuff he has on there is from a project that hasn't been finished yet. Perhaps you could PM him directly and ask if he could either release what he's got or give you a preliminary copy? Heck, perhaps he might even consider resizing them to include 640x480 since he already releases multiple resolutions. I know I'm hoping he releases that size myself as I run a TV in my cab too!
  18. A 6 button layout should work fine. The DC uses 4 buttons + 2 triggers. Some of those fighting games were awkward with the trigger buttons. However, my MadCat controllers had 6 buttons + 2 triggers (the extra buttons were just remapped from the triggers and digital). As long as you have an extra button for start, you should be good (well, except you will lose the analog stick function).
  19. So that's 2! Do we have a 3rd?!
  20. I wouldn't wait for night's stuff. He's a bit of a perfectionist and has been working on some of those themes for over a year. If you see one you like, it's a pretty simple matter to convert it. Comes down to resizing the image, moving/relocating the content, and resizing fonts as appropriate. If you can't figure it out, I could take a look (assuming you have a theme that just needs resizing) but I can't guarantee my schedule...
  21. The CP Wizard has IRC built into it. I don't know if that would work for what you want since noone uses IRC anymore (ok, maybe one person...HK )
  22. Hmmm, wrong thread. I didn't reread the first post and assumed it was the same post refering to the GP-Wiz. Ignore what I said

    Jukebox List

Don't quote me, but I'm betting it would be possible to have a single list with larger thumbnails and optional text next to it. So rather than a matrix like you have, it would be just a list. If you need the matrix look, that will require some changes to GameEx that won't likely happen without a feature request. If you can use the list look, then the Theme Editor could be used to come up with something.
  24. I presented a solution, but since I didn't do anything, I'm not sure I deserve a prize. But, if one MUST be given...
  25. You aren't running at 1024x768 or 800x600. Your screen can only support 500 lines (see the manual), so what's happening is the video card is down scaling your video to fit on the TV. You are using 1024 in windows and it's shrinking it to 640x480 (or so). That's what my video card does too. There's no way for the screen to display higher resolution than what it's built for, so although it appears by all the menus that you are running in one resolution, you are actually running much lower. This can actually be a BIG problem with light guns. I just redid my lightgun setup and had a problem with WinGun because of this scaling issue. While Windows thinks the scan lines are doing one thing, the TV is doing something different. As a result, things got AFU! I ended up switching the resolution down and adjusting the font/icon size so the gun would work.
