    MAMEBak.png

There is no specific MAME background. All other emulators etc have a special background. For whatever reason, MAME and the main pages use the same background called bak.png.
  2. You could try making the ini read-only.
  3. If you install GameEx manually, you can put it wherever you want. If you use the automatic updater inside GameEx, I don't think there's any way to have it install anywhere but in the default location (C:\Program Files\GameEx).
  4. There's no such thing as a DC game that sucks! I can't imagine anyone suggesting otherwise... Actually, as big a fan as I am of the DC, I personally though Shenmu sucked goat balls...but maybe I'm alone on that one
  5. You are using trackball which is an analog control. You are trying to set the mouse movement (analog) to a dial inc and dial dec (digital). The problem is that you should be using the first line which is analog. Basically, if you can't get it to work, make sure you are telling MAME to look for the mouse by using the -mouse command line argument or editing the MAME.ini file and setting mouse to 1 (from 0). After you do that, you should have no problem setting up your trackball as a spinner substitute.
  6. 1. If you are talking about the logos that show up for each emulator etc., those are located in the C:\Program Files\Media\<theme> directory (as I recall). If you look at different themes, they have different logos, so you might want to try different ones and mix and match as you like. 2. Yes, you can run different configs. The info's in the FAQ. 3. Favorites are in the data.mdb file in the C:\Program Files\GameEx\DATA directory (as I recall). You can create your own favorites that are located in whatever directory you specify, but they are not the same as what I think you are asking about.
  7. I could have sworn this was in the FAQ, but I just checked and it's not. There is no official stance on this from Tom AFAIK. Basically, you can use the registration from the first machine on the second if you want. The software is not supported by licensing or retail sales, only donations. If you feel that a donation is appropriate, that's the answer. If Tom, HK, Brian, etc. know of an official stance, please post and add it to the FAQ...

    romsets

Sounds like you are looking for a No-Intro set. I don't know the correct tool to use, but this is a standard operation AFAIK.
  9. Cool. I'm not too worried about it as it's almost there!
  10. After playing with this for a couple days off and on, I wanted to report that the rotary controls show up GREAT! I found 2 things on my setup: 1) I found that when I set things up via remote login (1024x768) and then switching to the cab running with TV resolutions (640x480), the results don't look the same though. I played around for a while trying to fix it and realized I just needed fix it in the correct resolution for it to be right. I don't know if there's something that could be tweaked to fix this, just throwing it out there. 2) When I pause MAME, the CPWizard comes up. When I exit the CPWizard, MAME minimizes. I still need to do more debugging to make sure I don't have something screwed up though. I'll try running outside of GameEx to see if I can figure out where the problem is. I'm running my MAME_Loader script, so perhaps CPWizard is trying to restore the wrong process? Like I said, I'll play around with it a bit more. Thanks for the fix on the rotary HK!!!
  11. cool beans! I'm D/Ling now!
  12. Awesome! I'll give this a try ASAP!
  13. You still have that thing sitting around
  14. There are a number of guides that use DiscJuggler to add self boot capability. I haven't modified a DC image in a LONG time, but I know it is possible to convert a non-selfboot cdi image to a selfboot cdi. I don't know about bin/cue though.
  15. I glanced at your config and it looks like you have several buttons setup that you don't use in the default.cfg. For example P1_UP_Left is keycode_c. This is also the same for P2_... I would personally start off by changing any of these settings to "none" by manually editing the cfg file. Next, it appears from the CPWizard image that it's setting down to both down and up and right is right and left for both P1 and P2. I didn't look much further, but I had similar problems that turned out to be my cfg file was AFU.
  16. HK: I know you've been working quite a bit on the WinUAE loader and the LED/LCD Wiz plugin in the last week or so. I just wanted to bump this thread to see if you had a chance to see what's up with the rotary controls. It's no rush/pressure, just curious.
  17. Are you talking about the logo on the page where you select the emulator?
  18. It's brand new so Tom or Night might not have added it to the themes site yet.
  19. pffft... How low-brow. I prefer Crown and Coke.
  20. The only other way to do this without destroying your directory tree is pretty advanced. If you use the ln command to create linked files, you can put those links in a single root directory and keep the actual roms in their tree structure. This is not a simple task mind you, so I would probably look elsewhere...
  21. That may work, but your best bet is to follow the directions in the MAME Compiler thread and start from scratch.
  22. Some vector games had green backgrounds...
  23. You could use XPadder or an AHK script to remap shift1 + shift2 to button 5 on your joystick if you like.
  24. So you are primarily referring to handheld systems like GB, GBA, GG, Turbo Graphics Express, etc.? I thought most of those had at least one emu that already had the background? I know I've used GB and GG emu's that display an image of the handheld around the display, I just don't know which one it is. I have them setup, but I rarely play either.
