Nice. Great to see another theme option for GameEx Arcade. The Arcade concept is a great fit. Not sure why someone didn't jump all over that before now.

GameEx asks if I want to Update every time I start it up.
RedDog replied to Sideshow88's topic in General
I had the same issue recently, so I figured I would chime in just case there might be even more people who ran into it. I installed GameEx over the existing install and am now waiting to see if it auto-triggers correctly the next time an update is released. -
Still try the theme change if you do not mind, but since you already tried four others the likelyhood that they all had fonts that were not already installed on your system is pretty slim. Besides the recent GameEx 14.77 update, are there any other changes that took place on your system such as video drivers, reinstalling GameEx, additonal programs installed, etc? Also, approximately how long have you had GameEx installed? You mentioned that it was working prior to Sunday. Also, have you been using the Default - BlueEx - MCE1024x768 for awhile?
-
@rothbauerw The error log is pointing at the Title Font 'Joystix' not being able to be loaded. The theme you are using, Default - BlueEx - MCE1024x768, is not one that is currently available for download through GameEx, so I am unable to test it out with your config. However, I did test out the rest of your config on my Windows 7 machine and I was able to run the config successfully (with a different theme). Would you try changing your theme to something simple like Default-Default and see if it will start up?
-
@Tom Speirs Which systems is the Launching graphic supposed to be displayed for? I was able to it with the integrated Mame, but not the emulators. Also, should it work with Daphne as well?
-
@rothbauerw Your issue may or may not be the same. It sounds like mzube is setting up GameEx Arcade for the first time while yours was running previously; you are running GameEx while he is running GameEx Arcade; and the themes you are using are different. I will ask to have your post moved to it's own thread for now. Thanks for including your files with your post though.

I am not sure that we are in the same page....so... You can define a folder for the marquees in the Mame Settings under Marquee path in the Setup Wizard. If the marquee path field in this section is left blank, GameEx will use the marquees GameEx Arcade Edition\MEDIA\DOWNLOADED ARTWORK\MAME\MARQUEE. But, if you are talking about the graphics that are actually used ON THE WHEEL, these are Logos. A logo path can also be defined in the Mame Settings section. If the field is left blank, GameEx will use the Logos in GameEx Arcade Edition\MEDIA\DOWNLOADED ARTWORK\MAME\LOGO. Hopefully one of these is what you need.

@Tom Speirs Hey Tom, would you mind reviewing the change? Here's an example of why: When Iooking at 1942 on my setup, there are 36 titles under the Recommended Games section. That is a long way down before being able to see the description. I would prefer to see the description on the screen when it first loads, so when viewing some games (like 1942), the change feels a bit clunky to me as well. I like the recommended games option, but would rather to see it as a seperate sub-section under the game. Taking it a further step, having a config option under Mame to Hide the Recommended Games would be icing. Thank you.

Hi kaptainsteve, It is in GameEx Arcade Edition\MEDIA\DOWNLOADED ARTWORK. In general,

@mzube Welcome to the GameEx forums. Sorry you hit a snag. Would you please post your GameEx.ini and log.txt as an attachment. They can be found in the GameEx\CONFIG and GameEx\LOG folders. The error report you posted is essentially the log.ini file, but having the attachment tells us we have the full log. Also, it looks like you are using an ATI Radeon card. The Catalyst drivers come with an addon called Raptor. Raptor can cause problems with GameEx. If you have it installed, you might try uninstalling it or reinstalling video drivers without it. Also, you posted this in the GameEx Evolution FAQ forum. Evolution is a different branch of GameEx that is currently in Alpha. If you have questions about GameEx or GameEx Arcade, please create your future posts under the GameEx\General forum. No worries though. I will flag this thread to be moved.

@Draco1962 I did look at Karafun when I started, but I was put off when the first thing I saw was that it asked to set up an account. I was looking for a stand alone setup, so I started looking for other alternatives (hopefully relatively free). There really aren't many good ones unless you want to pony up a pretty good amount of money. After seeing your post, I looked at Karafun 2 for a few minutes. It does look like it can be used offline, so I may give it a more thorough look-see. Thanks. Part of the reason I wanted to set up Karaoke was also to understand how it was done through the GameEx module so that I might be of help to someone in the future. I still would not mind getting it running, but after working with it a bit, I now realize that it is a pretty basic player with not a lot of bells and whistles. I will continue tinkering with GameEx to see if I can make it work anyway. Who knows, maybe Evolution will offer a beefier version...

Oh my... PROJECT ABANDONED!!! RUN AWAY!!!

I was looking this over yesterday a bit too and I can see Gidahl's viewpoint. 1942 is a great example. After the options for looking at the cabinet, PCB, etc (if you have it enabled), it gives game reccommendations and then the game description. Well, there is a long list of recommended games before you get to the 1942 description. It's a bit clunky. Thanks for putting up the request.

Itm ight not be a bad idea to also post a screen shot on this one with some edits like "info is now here" and "info used to be here".

How long might that be? Hint, hint, nudge, nudge

This is the first time I've seen that cab. It looks fantastic!

Feature & Enhancement Requests

Suggestions for the Setup Wizard: On the inital page of the Setup Wizard, indicate if the wizard is for GameEx Arcade, GameEx, or GameEx Evolution. Also include the GameEx version (it will make it easier for users to determine what version they are running). EDIT: OK, I see that GameEx name is on the screen. Maybe it could be made to be more noticable. Change the sidebar colors of the panel in the Setup Wizard for the different versions (GameEx Arcade, GameEx, or GameEx Evolution). Again, it makes it easier for people trying multiple flavors to tell which they are working on. -
You can only do as much as the emulator and your PC will allow. Maybe Yabause isn't the right one for you. You might give SSF a try. Saturn emulation is pretty weak compared to console favs like NES, SNES, or Genesis. That's just the way it is. Sometimes you just have to settle for the best fit instead of the perfect one.

I second the plugin. It works pretty well. But, if you decide to stay with your own batch files, here is a link to the Command Line options for DTLite. I should point out that the mount and unmount commands does not specify a numeric parameter. It can specify a drive letter, so I am unsure why you would try asomething like "mount 0", "mount 1", etc. I assume this is one reason it is not working.

Way to go Brother!!

@DazzleHP It's been a bit, so just giving this a little bump. Looking for some feedback before I continue.

@jukker Tom is referring to the six icons that are always displayed at the bottom of the window of the Setup Wizard. The icon to the far right (looks kind of like two dialogue bubbles, one with an asterisk) is the language icon. This icon does work to change the language. Evidentally the radio buttons on the TEXT/LANGUAGE page are not working as intended and will have to be fixed. It did the same thing for me as you described: when a different langauge is selected using the radio button, the data in the fields clears from the screen for a few moments and then reappears. The radio selection and text in the fields reverts back to the original language that was active before the selection.

Hi lordleuter, Support for emulators other than Mame was added to GameEx Arcade Edition recently, so you will need the latest version (14.75). You can check your installed version by opening the log.txt file located in your GameEx\LOG folder and looking at the first few lines. If you need to upgrade, you can install the latest version over your existing install. Once installed, you should see the Emulator Selection, Emulator Setup, and Advanced Emulator Setup sections. If you have further questions or any problems with the emulator setup, please attach your GameEx.ini and log.txt files after you have confirmed you have the latest version.

Yeah, I mentioned that above. if you look at the notes of the 'profile' parameter, it says "Defaults to all controllers", which means that when you activate a profile, it will be applied to all controllers. So, if you activate 4 profiles in succession and do not specify a controller to activate them for, that profile will be active for all of them. The 'profile-controller' parameter says you can single out a specific controller by it's name, controller index, or GUID (global unique identifier). It sounds like you will need to figure out how to ID your controllers so that you can use the 'profile-controller' parameter to assign it to a specific controller. You will probably end up with four command lines that look something like this: D:\Jogos\AntiMicro\antimicro.exe --tray --profile "D:\Jogos\AntiMicro\Profiles\NINTENDO (1 Jogador).ampg" --profile-controller I have no idea what a controller index is and I did not find anything on it with a quick google search. I found this post on how to find a GUID for a piece of hardware, but when I looked the GUID for the two XBoxOne controllers I have, they are the same. You are probably going to have to find a forum where people are talking about antimicro to see how to assign a profile to a specific device. As for the you tube tutorials, I was referring to antimicro tutorials in general, not command line tutorials. It sounded like you might need a bit more of an understanding on how to use the program. Understanding Command Lines is a different subject and not specific to just antimicro. Many, many programs allow for command line usage. For instance, when you set up an emulator in GameEx's Setup Wizard, you are giving it the information it needs to construct the command line that will run the emulator. If you want to use programs that use command lines, it is probably best to find some basic tutorials on the web. It is not something I want to teach in a forum. Otherwise, your best bet is to try and find another forum where they are talking about antimicro and see what advice they can give. I just don't think there are too many people here who know about this program...but who knows, if you wait a bit, maybe someone will come along. X
