  1. Worked, yes? Emph
  2. You need to have your files unpacked. I remember reading this somewhere. And it works for me. Emph
  3. Cool. Does it have a "restore" function also? Say that I try it and I want to go back to the original Windows starting up. Can I just run it again and disble everything? If not, I suggest you add an "uninstaller". I will try it out on my Laptop. I have a Norton Ghost Image that I can revert to. Emph
  4. Does the game work if you launch it directly from Mame32FX? Some of my games (Gauntlet Legends for example) is listed, but doesn't work in GameEx. In Mame32, it isn't even listed. I don't know why this is, but perhaps it's a bug? Emph
  5. Sweet stuff! In fact, I'm gonna donate some cash next week when the paycheck arrives... Emph
  6. Does anyone here have a Soundblaster remote? I just got an external Soundblaster Live! 24 Bit (in order to get Dolby Digital out from my laptop) and I got a remote with it that I'm supposed to be able to use with the app of my choice. Haven't got around to test it with GameEx yet, but if it works, I might use GameEx for more than just Fronting MAME. Does anybody know how to configure the remote? Some .ini tweaking perhaps? If I can get it to work, there might be some new GameEx users from the Creative forums here soon... Emph
  7. Or how about an option to "put all of your favorites in a special folder". This way, you can't accidentially remove any roms. Step 1: You go through your MAME games, trying them out. If you like the game, you choose "Add to favorites". Step 2: When you're done, you go to the main menu where (hopefully some time in the future) you can click "Copy all Favorites to [favorites folder]". Now you get a folder with ONLY the roms that you want to keep, and (hopefully) GameEx will automatically check if the rom sets are complete, in case you "move" a cloned set. Step 3: Now you can delete the contents of you "roms" folder and put your favorites into it. Emph
  8. I was referring to this: "New installation option to setup only as an MCE MAME Plugin, like original versions of GameEx (eg. V1.x), but with MAME Favorites, most played MAME games, and last played MAME game. This disables a lot of features and configures for the initial GameEx crowd, including removing the startup banner." I thought that by "Startup banner" you meant donate screen. I guess I was mistaken. I guess I'll have to skip some lunches soon and register. Emph
  9. What happens if you install GameEx as a MCE plugin in Windows XP? Is that the same as installing GameEx just for games? Or will it not work? I only use GameEx for MAME, so I feel that I don't "need" to see that nag screen any more than people using MCE. Emph
  10. I see the nag screen EVERY time I load GameEx. So it seems that some people are more lucky I guess. Emph
  11. I understand your reasons fully. And I'm glad if this gives people less reason to hassle you with stupid questions (they could at least read the system requirements before starting threads) because this means that you work on more important issues. The weird thing is that I've never had ANY problems installing GameEx before and just wanted to make sure that you hadn't changed anything before trying to reinstall WMP myself. As GameEx is running without problems on my system, WMP should be working, right? I have chosen to install the light version (only for games) the whole time, and now I didn't get to that option so I just wanna know for sure that you haven't changed the order of things to get installed or stopped supporting the light installations? Edit: Just reinstalled WMP 10 manually and GameEx installed without problems. My bad. Emph
  12. It's very weird since I've never had any problems with previous versions of GameEx. I guess that you have added this feature to the installation in the latest version. Still, I think it would be better if you could choose to install WMP manually instead. Just give the users a "heads up" about needing it. Emph
  13. The installation of WMP should be optional, perhaps with a <skip> button. I can't install 5.12 now because GameEx wants to install WMP9 and I have WMP10 so I can't do that. Emph
  14. I have some strange glitches with my X-Arcade as well. If I go into the gui-menu in MAME, I can't use my X-Arcade to go up and down in the menu. Although I can use the secondary controller and as soon as I start a game, both controllers work. And I don't know if this a common thing with X-Arcade or if it's my Windows configuration, but If I insert a coin and start a game almost directly after the game is loaded, the controls "hang" for a second or two, causing me to get killed. This is very annoying and I just wondered if this is a know bug with X-Arcades? Emph
  15. Is it possible to set a standard size for all .mng's? It would look better. Emph
  16. Can you add a confirmation: "Are you sure you want to update the Game List? [YES] or [NO]" for Update game list? Because if you click it by accident, the only thing to do to abort the process is Ctrl+Alt+Delete. Emph
  17. When using the Most Played option, I noticed that that page uses the emubak.png. Could you make a mostplayed.png and use as the background instead? For skinning purpouses. Feel free to move this into feature requests if you want to, but I figured this was a bug. Edit: In Text/Language, Most Played doesn't have a text field called Most Played Start, like MAME Start is to MAME list etc. This would also be nice to have, to get the same feel in all menus. Edit #2: If you choose "last game", you go into the presentation page for that game and the "MAME All-list" title is showing at the top. I find this a bit confusing while navigating through the different pages. But maybe that's just me. Emph
  18. Go to your windows start menu and the GameEx program group. There you'll find it! Emph

    NEW idea

Nice idea, and nice theme. I guess it's easier to make backgrounds when all snapshots are in the same resolution/orientation. That's harder with MAME games... Emph

    Theme .ini

    Okay. Thanks! Emph

    Theme .ini

Can I just copy the contents of my GameEx.ini? Commands like Use advanced graphics and options like that, can it be implemented in the theme.ini file? I'm about to post my first theme here, and I don't want it to look wrong. Emph
  22. It's supposed to skip videos already in the folder. But It would be great if you could have a "continue later" function. Emph
  23. ?? Doesn't ZetaMAME support Scale2x? Emph
  24. My error was caused by me seeding the MNG torrent file. Thus making my MNG catalogue, read-only I guess. But now I have another problem that I think is caused by me using ZetaMAME. Because you can't exit without pressing first escape, then select button, GameEx gets stuck in the first game. I'm gonna download the regular MAME build and have a go. Emph
  25. When I tried to create videos GameEx crashed as well. But not in the "ordinary" way, but I get a "Windows has caused an exception" or somthing like that. I have tried both with letting GameEx change resolution and with no change. I'm on Windows XP SP2 without ArcadeVGA. I don't know what version of Framework I have installed. I've just followed Microsofts recommendations from Windows Update. I'm currently at work so I can't really test this any more atm, just thought I'd report it. Emph
