    Rotate MAME games

If you use a MAME32 build, can't you filter your games through orientation? Than select them all and rotate them. Then when launching your game from GameEx, they should be rotated. Emph
  2. It just would look much better for the theme that I'm working on. But it's not a priority, so feel now pressure whatsoever. Latest version works very well for me. Btw, if I have both a .png file and a .bmp file for the same function, which one will GameEx use? I'm guessing that it will use the .png? Emph
  3. I've noticed that the font colour for the game information at the top is a light shade of purple. Is there an option where you can specify a different colour somewhere? I have "make dialog text white" or what it's called turned on, so I guess that's not it then? It would be really nice if you could specify it yourself somewhere. Emph
  4. I had actually never seen the "Don't change resolution" setting 'til now. GameEx now looks even better! Superb. Emph
  5. So any.bat file could be called with CMD="c:\any.bat" and the game or whatever will start? This would be cool if you like to watch MAME replays. Just add a folder with the correct mame.exe version, a roms folder with the corresponding rom and an inp folder. Nice... Emph
  6. Great! Thanks a lot! Emph
  7. Sorry for being confusing: I have had to change theme etc for as far as I can remember (i.e. since I started using these functions.) I always install with "Setup for gaming only" or what it's called, because I just want to use it as a MAME frontend for the cab I'm building. On another note: The mng sound is playing about 1.5 seconds after I've quit GameEx and Windows' visible. I can't recall that it played at all after pressing escape, but it would be a lot nicer with a fade out. Emph
  8. Just fired it up and I noticed right away that after unistalling and reinstalling a new version, the "custominput.ini" file has been either deleted in the uninstall or overwritten in the reinstall. This is a bit annoying. What would happend if I made it write protected? Would that crash the installer? Edit: Also after a reinstall, I would prefer that the same theme as previous version was used and that the "Advanced graphics" were untouched. Emph
  9. Too bad the "Disclaimer skipping" can't be triggered to start only after the game is loaded. Or can it? Emph
  10. I did have MAME32 problems once, but the thing that caused it in my case was that I hade made a shortcut to the .exe file. If I started it from the actual program file, everything worked. Otherwise, I hade to add paths for my roms etc. Emph
  11. That's odd. Perhaps I was way quicker than I thought. Emph
  12. I'm guessing the "Bypass disclaimer" setting is just sending a lots of "O"s and "K"s to MAME, right? Is there a timer that tells the command to stop? Because I entered the MAME GUI and as my select button is set to "O", things got ugly. Any chance you could set a timer to for how long this goes on so it's "safe" time to enter the GUI after say... I dunno, 5 or 10 seconds? Emph
  13. I have a 2 player X-Arcade as well, but I have reprogrammed some of the buttons because I've experienced some problems with it under XP. For example: The two left top buttons on P1 side of the stick is changed to "O" and "K" so that I can discard MAME warning screens easily. Since starting to use GameEx I've realized that changing the left pinball button from "3" to "tab" and the right to "escape" is needed for my "home" and "exit" commands. I don't know if you have these issues with X-Arcade under Win2K, but the two buttons I've changed to "O" and "K" (in X-Arcade's standard settings "Ctrl" and "Alt" if I remember correctly) sometimes stops working. At least for me. That's why I reprogrammed them initially, but since found that OK is very functional. Emph
  14. I also use ZetaMame but with no trouble. Have you tried to play games using only ZetaMame? Make sure that works first, otherwise GameEx won't be able to load your roms. Check your folder settings in ZetaMame if it doesn't work. Emph
  15. Yes. I have it 'on'. Another thing: When I launch GameEx, it displays the startpage like I want it to, but with the wrong background. It displays bak.bmp instead of startbak.bmp. Only after I have selected one of the menu items and then go back the correct bmp is displayed. Is this a bug or am I missing something in configuration? Edit: I just tried a workaround by having start page enabled but set "show start page first" to false. I thought that I would start in MAME directly with the option to hit "back" to go to the start page, but I guess that I'm missing something. In my WIP theme I have disabled the "home" & "exit" buttons at the top and also the top menu so I can't reach the startpage at the moment. Perhaps I have to have those buttons enabled then? Emph
  16. When I pressed 'escape' to exit from attractmode I exited GameEx as well. Is this a bug or just a freak occurance just for me? Emph
  17. When playing a vertical game -> going back to the start page and selecting "Last played game" the mng file is displayed with an incorrect aspect ratio. I'm not sure if this is a bug or if it's something that I should put under "Feature suggestions", but it would look much better with the correct ratio. Yes? Emph

    Rotate MAME games

I'm gonna use a PC monitor in my cab that will be rotatable and I'll definitely use a rotating frontend. I would prefer GameEx over MALA anytime. Would it be easier to have two different GameEx executables? One horizontal and one vertical? No rotation. Just two different programs. Would that make it easier? Or is this about resolutions on arcade monitors? Emph
  21. Great! Emph
  22. When I select a game to play, the music background music fades out when I click "Play this game", but obviously not fast enough, because MAME loads up the game with the background mp3 that matches the mng files still playing at low volume in the background. And when the game is loaded, the mp3 "hangs", like a broken record. Very annoying. I'm using GameEx 4.99 + ZetaMame 0.99, but the problem's been around for at least the 10 last revisions of GameEx. Emph
  23. That's really all the reason you need not to do vertical GameEx. If it can't be done, don't waste time on it. I'm just gonna hope that MALA gets MNG support...

    Rotate MAME games

Mala can also be set to rotate the MAME games with the frontend. Get MALA here: http://mala.arcadezentrum.com/ Emph
  25. I didn't mean for this to sound that the new versions are bug infested, I just think that since there are now close to 2 new versions each day, perhaps it would be less time consuming for you to maintain only these pages. And then of course when a major update (like vertical screen support!?) you announce that on your main site. Hope I didn't rain on your parade. Emph
