Here's my new Mario Bros. hi-score > Score: 51,090 points > Initials used: DEN > Settings used of post #1 (HARD) > Mame 0.147 compiled used > Screenshot of my hi-score: GC (Dennis) Updated the OP and link

Thank you Han, I've paid more attention to my photobucket-URL and I had to make a small change. It's now working GC

Is it possible to add an image to your post which is not a thumbnail but the size of the original image ? In understood you need to post the image as a link (Using the Image button in the posting controls), rather than as an attachment to the post. So I uploaded an image to my photobucket-account. Copied the link and posted the image in a reply as a link. I got a small picture-icon with a red square? What am I doing wrong? GC

Hi everybody, I have a question about creating a Poll: As far as I can tell you can only vote for one option. I want to create a Poll based on a pretty long list of options to choose from. I would therefore like to create a Poll where everybody can vote for let's say a max of three options? Is this possible? If so, how....? Thanks! GC

Thank you Draco. That's all I wanted to know GC

A question for the mods/admins: the first thread in a forum is the one who has the most recent reply. When a thread is both pinned AND locked that one is always above a regular thread. With more threads being both pinned AND locked the first rule applies again. Question 1 - when a thread is pinned but NOT locked > will this thread always be above any regular thread? Question 2 - when a thread is pinned but NOT locked and is the topic with the most recent reply > will it than also be above any threads being both pinned AND locked? I ask this in regard to the threads I am creating and have created for our Hi-score competition. Thanks in advance, GC

I already adjusted Donkey Kong and Mario Bros Waiting for Han to change his threads. It is definitely a good idea! Thank you Han!

Thank you for all your help

Thank you nP. This is helping a lot ! One final question for now: when creating a table with BBCode a default light blue background is shown. Is it possible to remove the backgroundcolor or change it ? GC
-
Thank you nP another question: when creating a new topic > is it possible to add an image to your post which is not a thumbnail but the size of the original image? Thanks! GC
-
Hi nullPointer, Presume you want to create a table with three columns > the table is autostretched. Is it possible to control the width of your table/ columns and backgroundcolour when using BBcode? Thanks again, GC
-
Thank you Nullpointer Would it also be possible to add a small image (icon) inside a table cell? Could you (or anyone) perhaps show me the BBCode to accomplish this ? Thanks in advance GC
-
Hi everybody, could someone please explain how I can make a Table with multiple cells and rows when creating a topic or reply. I tried to use "Special BBCode" ; third symbol on the left when you create a new topic / reply. But I cannot create a simple table with cells and rows like you create in Excel for example. Can somebody help me out? Thanks in advance! GC

Hi MNMax21, It's sweet indeed! Our own hi-score sub-forum. I still can't believe it. Sweeeeet! Maybe you've already noticed but the old "Mario Bros Hi-Score thread" is locked. Post #1 didn't have a summary of the gamesettings which have to be used. A few scores were submitted but which settings were used is not clear. That's why a new Mario Bros. thread is created. Hoping for your understanding Link to new Mario Bos. thread > link Happy hi-scoring, GC

Rules, Guides and MAP File
GimmeClassics replied to GimmeClassics's topic in GameEx Hi-Score Competition
Guide > Making a Printscreen of your Mame Hi-Score screen A big thank you to Hansolo for creating this guide. I've also added the option to change the resolution of your printscreen / snap. When using this guide you can have MAME capture your hi-score screen for you INSIDE the Mame snap directory. Because it uses Mame to capture the screenshot you don't need to use any extra software (e.g. Fraps) or special mobile devices. A nice thing is that it will increment you're snaps, so you can have multiple ones, thereby fixing the inability to overwrite pre-existing hi-score screen images. While you can set up to use the incremential numbering in the root /snap directory, there are THOUSANDS in there, and finding the one you just took is way too complicated. So this method simplifies finding the image you're looking for! So here's the instructions! The guide is based upon using MAMEUI64. Your own settings might be slightly different, but it shouldn't be that difficult to find... 1) Click on the OPTIONS tab at the top of the screen. 2) Click on the INTERFACE OPTIONS... menu item. 3) Change the "Screenshot Pattern" option to "Gamename/Gamename + Increment" 4) Play your game, press F12 to save the screenshot. When you go into your predefined path for snaps*, you should see a new folder using the ROM name, and inside that is a newly created snapshot. Each time you hit F12, it should create a new image for you! * When you want to change the path for your snaps: a. Go to Options > Directories b. Select "Snapshots" and browse to the directory you want your snaps to be saved Optional: change the resolution of your printscreen / snap By default Mame saves a rather small sized snapshot. If you want it to be bigger (which I like) here is what you should do: 1) Go to Options > Default Game Options 2) Select the Miscellaneous Tab 3) Deselect "Autoselect snapshot size" and change the snapshot's size Hit "Apply" after you have unchecked "Autoselect Snapshot Size". Only then you are able to change the resolution of your snaps I changed it to 1280 x 1024. This can be changed to any size Hopefully this will help make adding screenshots to post your highscores easier. GC- 3 replies

Rules, Guides and MAP File
GimmeClassics replied to GimmeClassics's topic in GameEx Hi-Score Competition
Guide > Making sure Mame is using the correct settings Because we want everybody to participate in a fair Hi-Score competition there are some rules you have to follow when submitting your Hi-Score. One of these rules is you have to use the correct (dip-switch) settings when playing your Mame-game. Please follow the instruction below to make sure you're using the correct settings. 1) Please look for the Hi-Score Competition-thread of the game you want to play and read post #1 for the settings you have to use when playing this game 2) Start your Mame-game 3) Hit TAB on your keyboard 4) Select Dip Switches (see screenshot below) 5) Change your settings (see screenshot below) It's possible the settings are correct by default. When this is the case you don't have to change anything. 6) Select "Return to Prior Menu" (see screenshot below) 7) Select Return to Game (see screenshot below) 8) Exit Mame 9) Start your Mame-game again and check if Mame has saved your changes (Tab > Dip Switches) Changing your game settings once should be enough. Mame should remember this. Please send me a PM if this is not the case Kind regards, GC- 3 replies

Please set your dip switches to MEDIUM as this will be the tracking for HARD difficulty. This only counts for MAME 0.106. Being an old version of MAME you probably just have to set your dip switches to HARD as stated above. # you can change your Mame dip switch settings by following this guide > link # you can make a printscreen of your hi-score screen by following this guide > link # general rules for submitting you hi-score > link # the above settings are the default Twin Galaxies settings > link The first created "Hi-Score Competition - Mario Bros." - thread unfortunately wasn't setup according to the rules we finally agreed upon. Post #1 didn't have a summary of the gamesettings which have to be used. A few scores were submitted but which settings were used is not clear. That's why this new Mario Bros. thread is created. The old one will be blocked for new submissions. Hoping for your understanding. Please submit your new Mario Bros Hi-Scores to this new thread and use the above settings! Only these new submissions are valid and will count for the Leaderboard. Good luck and have fun! GC * p.s.: I have chosen for difficulty "Hard" because this is - by far - the most used setting at Twin Galaxies.

Hi Han, Please try again and hit "Apply" after you have unchecked "Autoselect Snapshot Size". You should then be able to change the resolution of your snapshot Good luck. Cya, GC

[DEPRECATED] Hi-Score competition - Mario Bros.
GimmeClassics replied to MNMax21's topic in GameEx Hi-Score Competition
Hello everybody, Thanks a lot for your interest in submitting hi-scores for Mario Bros. All hi-score game threads have a summuray in post #1 of the settings that have to be used when playing that particular game. This thread was the first hi-score game thread that was created and unfortunately doesn't follow the rules that we ultimately agreed upon. We kindly request you to no longer submit any Mario Bros hi-scores to this thread. A new "Hi-Score Competition - Mario Bros " - thread has been created > link Please submit your new Mario Bros Hi-Scores to the new thread and use the correct settings! Only these new submissions are valid and will count for the Leaderboard which will be created soon Hoping for your understanding Happy Hi-Scoring! GimmeClassics -
Wow Draco: thanks a lot for creating a subforum for our Hi-Score competition! That's very nice! I've taken the liberty to create a new thread "Hi-Score Competition - Rules" I've copied these rules I and Han have agreed upon from the post I made in "Hi-Score Competition" (post # 54) Thanks again !!!!!
