  1. I have to choose one? Then for me it's Bubble Bobble (I know...I know). It was the only arcade they had at a card shop I frequented as a kid. I was always there for the trading cards (Pokemon I'm ashamed to say), so I did not have much money for the arcade. When I could play, I made it count. My friend had it for NES and we together played through it a number of times, but the arcade version has way better graphics. It holds positive memories for me and it's a tame game I would have no problem recommending to all ages. Now that I built an Arcade, and when I have friends over with kids, I always have that running for them to play. I also keep cup full of quarters on the Control Panel so they never run out before their patience does. I think I now I derive more fun from watching others play and have fun than when playing myself. Then again, I was always more of a console fan.
  2. Everyone's getting shiny new titles. Congratulations are in order. Keep up the great work!
  3. I envisioned something like this...then I discovered emulators and GameEx...whew! I may still showcase my old consoles in an entertainment cabinet someday, at which point I think I'll go with a more traditional AV switch. +1 for ingenuity and tenacity though. I gotta give it to him, that's dedication! That's way hack!
  4. I take it then you're not an Elder Scrolls fan? You like Final Fantasy though? Hmm...I guess there's enough to do story wise to keep you entertained other than "farming." I skipped the XBox360 era, so my Halo days expired in 2005 (when I started collage incidentally). While I'm curious to see where the story has gone, I don't want to pay the price of admission or expose myself to the violence anymore, let alone the preteen online interactions - "Shut up you half-witted, sub human, prepubescent, dog whistling, infant! You got pwned fair and square, my x-box is mod chip free. Learn some tactics, practice with your bros, and beg your mom for faster internet before using that squeak-box you call vocal cords to call me a cheater. Sore looser!"
  5. I have this issue too, but I've always just accepted it as a slight annoyance to work around. Good to know there will be more options in the future. Thank you Tom.
  6. +1 I second this, would be a nice feature for video backgrounds, having foreground objects fade into partial translucence allowing easier viewing of background snaps. Maybe an option to set the timeout to say 3 or 5 seconds.
  7. Yeah, sounds like it might be time to retire the core2Duo to a mame cab, or barcade, or pincab...If you can swing the expense without interfering with your goal (or delaying it).
  8. Nothing has ever made me want to try LSD...until now. I'm not going to...just saying.
  9. Yeah, there you go. Save the doh on an XBone and get it for PC instead (though I think he said his PC is not up to snuff).
  10. I remember getting the Dodge Viper and suping it up so I could easily win an endurance race for a chance to get an Indy car. When I finally did, then the winning started...score! GT3 is high on my fondness scale. GT Sport for PS VR looks amazing. I'm so tempted.

Han you scoundrel, trading up are we? Well we'll see about that....kiss of death!

Isn't it fun to take thing out of context...lol
  13. Did you ever get the S license? That's the only game my dad ever was able to beat me at. He sat there for hours and days at a time trying with that squirrely over powered car on that ridiculous track to get it. He finally did it...twice!!! I came close a few times, but never put in the hours needed to get it. Still haunts me.
  14. I'm still waiting on getting a rift. I build a new computer with this in mind back in January. Still haven't taken the plunge. I'm almost glad I waited, because PS VR looks pretty enticing. I may decide to go that rout instead, Like I said, I'm afraid to spend money right now until I'm sure how my budgets line up after I shook things up with retirement savings. Feels precarious giving that much money to a large corporation, especially since they that can't guarantee I'll ever get it back. Gives me a sick feeling. I see the utility of it, but that little voice in the back of my mind is screaming "Don't trust those corporate psychopaths with your money!" I wouldn't have taken such a drastic move if there was any other way to save for retirement. Now I'll constantly be wondering if I sent that money off to work for me, or if it's being seduced by a corporate harlot to commit treachery. I'll keep an eagle eye on my investments to try and peck that greedy hand when it try's to reach in my pocket.

I get vertigo just looking out a 10+ story window. WTH!!!
  16. Touche I see your point and actually agree with it, for a $30 price point. But full proce? IDK, having never played either of the previous games in the series, I'm coming from a noob perspective. I guess it's a fitting combination of the two previous titles that might excite fans of the franchise, but it's a hard pill to swallow paying full price for this. I'd probably need to demo it. I'm not fully convinced. I'll admit, it looks fun. PS: I still think Dolphin VR could handle this
  17. I just picked up a lot more work myself, getting close to an actual Full-time contract (with benefits and such), but I'm already working full-time hours in different Part time jobs around the building. The extra income is welcome and although, like you, I'm tempted by the current generation of consoles and games, I'm on a budget. I set a limit each month of how much I will be allowed to spend on entertainment (which includes netflix, TV, Internet, and etc.). If I'm saving each month out of that budget, then when I have enough I could get an XBone, if I still want one (this forces me to wait until I'm sure it's not an impulse buy). The rest of my income goes into my other budgets (Rent, savings buffer, food, household, and etc.) I'm scared right now because I just set up a 403(b) TSA and a Roth IRA. I'm differing a large amount of income each month right off the top. So, I'm waiting a few months with the fear of God in me, to see if I can afford my future. With that in mind, I've been focosing on work and rest. I haven't had much time for gaming lately. Damn Priorities!
  18. To each their own. I get it, I would just rather see the next gen hardware put to more than cell shading and shiny reflective surfaces though. I'm tired of next gen stuff emulating apps, and retro games. That's what phones tablets and the old consoles are for. If it wasn't for the VR aspect and cockpit I feel like the Nintendo 64 could handle it, maybe Gamecube. Reminds me of Windwaker which was awesome. I agree it's cool, but in a flat sarcastic Jhon Oliver kind of ...Cool.
  19. I think it would be better had they gone the realistic as opposed to cell shading route. The cockpit looks good, then you look out and see this cartoon world, kinda weird.
  20. I read that CLRMAMEPRO doesn't update the bios files that come in update packs. So my update must be missing the neogeo.zip updates. In the 0.166-0.167 update pack there was an update to the neogeo bios. I'm looking into updating with Romcenter, which I think does fix bios. May be a few days while I figure this out...and just when I thought I had this rom auditing thing licked, this happens. It's like playing whack-a-mole.
  21. Ok then. I setup Mame 0.177 from the latest binary and updated my ROMset (Stoked about that BTW) and I can verify this problem does indeed reproduce. Besides the mame paths, I did not touch the other settings. So the comparison is 1 to 1. With Mame 0.161 I had 51 Neo-Geo games listed and now there's only one, Action Fighter. The MAME system pack that Tom released did not have this issue either, so whatever version of mame that was works. Somewhere along the mame update chain must have introduced some new "listing?" change that GameEx is not handling (I'm guessing). I think we should elevate this to Tom's attention.
  22. I'm in the process of an update. Just used CLRMAMEPRO to scan my progress and it said I'm missing 190 or so sets, but other than that I'm stoked! That's much further than I've gotten before. I must have done something right this time (what that is I don't know). Hopefully, I didn't screw it up...knock on wood. I did backup fist. I'll set it up in GameEx and report back if it doesn't populate the Neo-Geo's correctly. Then we at least will know if there is a reproducible problem.
  23. I'm interested in your results, I was planning an upgrade of mame myself. Side note, even with 0.161 (full romset) I only see 6 games listed under Neo-Geo. I usually don't have that option enabled, so I never noticed. I did recently turn verify roms on, so that may have reduced the number some.***EDIT: with verify roms off I see 51***
  24. I think the ultimate solution would be to setup multiple MAME versions in the emulator section and use an emulator group to combine them into one listing. Of course since only the integrated MAME is enabled in the evo alpha, you can't do this yet.
  25. I think he could handle the womanizer and smuggler role quite easily. His role in "Seeking a Friend for the End of the World" is what made me think of him. It'd be a shame if they didn't take a look at him, he's more than capable of the role (having done Antwone Fisher).
