  1. Hi, Please do the same with this version.. GameEx.zip
  2. Please extract the GameEx.exe in the attached zip over your current one. Run and then post the log. Thanks. Tom GameEx.zip
  3. I need your config. Can you post Config\gameex.ini. Thanks.
  4. Sorry, I dont plan to add support for any more builds of MAME other than official and legal ones. I did not realise MAME More is an illegal build, and I certainly dont want to get tied up in that or have any such talk on this forum I am afraid, and I certainly dont condone it Sorry but my official stance is to abide by MAME Dev's wishes and licence. I won't risk jeopardising this project or the wonderfull thing that is MAME. Use a legal build, or go elsewhere. If this was Mame.net youd be barred already. Tom
  5. I guess I am getting old, not too used to slang/text/abbreviations Well at least it did not require a coding fix!
  6. 29th April 2005 - GameEx 3.63 Fixes loosing MAME games after log off or shutdown Improved and fixed transition between Radio and Jukebox Optimised/removed some of the code, should run a bit faster now. Added German translation by CU cupid Added Spanish translation by DoctorM Thanks. To all: All the translations need a little update because of new features. Please chip in if you can help. [*] Updated support files. Please support these guys. GameEx would not be the same without them http://www.arcade-history.com/ http://www.mameworld.net/catlist/ http://www.mameworld.net/mameinfo http://nplayers.arcadebelgium.be http://fe.donkeyfly.com/controls/controls.php
  7. Thank you for providing detailed information. I have found the bug now. It will be fixed in the next release. Thanks again. Tom.
  8. 'Minimum requirements' you already have, and there on the web site. Browse the forum and find out what people are using to get a better idea if people dont respond to this. I am still trying to get a better idea myself. Once I have more info I will post on the web site. Its impossible to know how fast GameEx will run on as it depends on Hardware your Software, your OS, your Drivers, and how much you have tuned your PC, and know about PC's. Ive had it grind to a crawl on 400Mhz PC but run OK on a 550Mhz Compaq Laptop and play all the old skool games. Others have pretty good results on an 800Mhz, as have I. You say it runs badly on a 1.2. So its hard to anwser. I'd say anything above a 2.2Ghz with a decent video card and 512MB and it will run at full speed, so 'recommended' requirements would be that.
  9. I also want to clarify for others making posts like this. The following: GameEx is a high end Front End. It is developed to run on the latest hardware. Much like the latest game software and windows media centre. Do NOT expect every single feature to run a 60FPS on anything less than a 2.4GHZ, and Radeon 8500. GameEx will run on older harder: In order to make it run on older hardware, you need to disable certain features, optimize the PC (thoroughly) have all the latest updates and modern driver, and follow all advice in the docs, and this forum. It requires effort and some skill to run GameEx on older systems with acceptable userability. If it still does not run good enough for you, ask for help. If noone can help - try another front end or build/buy a new pc.
  10. Well Ive given you something for the first two. Have you tried them? Your log and gameex.ini file? Your harwdware, your OS? Run a game that runs slow. Exit GameEx. Then select run last game from the program group. Any difference? You need to be much more descriptive and provide more info, and not use slang. Otherwise this will go on forever (actually Ill give up first). What game did you view controls on. Does it do it everytime for every game.
  11. Hi Emph, it will be happening. Many people have asked for this.
  12. You might be surprised how well you remember it, once youve written it down and used it a few times. I managed to memorise it quickly, and I'm usually crap mentally at things like that. I did put some thought into this. Its nowhere need as complex as your average cheat for a console game. Youd also be surprised what hammer happy kids can do You could always write it down and lock in your cab. Of course if you have another suggestion?
  13. Try the -Skipvalidtychecks setting for MAME. Search the board for more info about this. The lowest I've tested it on is a 2.4GHZ P4. Some videos such as 720 still run very slow, but most full speed. Also check your not loading Game images/videos on a thread. (Tweaks performance). As said before if your displaying them as a background image, turn off alhpa blending. This can make them run slow on even the fastest systems. This is a common problem. I am not sure if your are saying the MAME games themselves actually run slow, or just load slow. Please clarify.
  14. Yes and thats exactly what Ill be doing. Spot on.
  15. This is fixed in 3.62 - Just uploaded. Go try that. Thanks
  16. This is fixed in 3.62 - Just uploaded. Go try that. Thanks
  17. 27th April 2005 - GameEx 3.62 - Bug fixes Now starts up for new installs. No more log shows 'Loading last used gamelist. Error' Fixed crashing for new installs or where no favorites defined. Fixed crashing in pictures when viewing a directory with no sub directories or pictures. Emulator and Daphne favourites now work when No game Info is enabled. No Game info setting moved to enabled/disable, as this now applies to emulators as well as MAME.
  18. The way I see it, you have four options. 1. Buy a faster PC. 2. Go try another front end. 3. Dont run MNG videos (try AVI). MNG videos need a really fast PC. 4. Or try and be a lot more descriptive and explain what is exactly slow, such as contol responsivness, screen updates, loading games, playing videos. Also post your config. If you choose 4 I might be able to help. Yourll get nothing back otherwise. Thanks.
  19. Rather than get technical and explain what GameEx does to create favorites, why dont you just add your favorites via the front end?? It will be quicker that way anyway surely?? I may add another menu button on the left of the favorites list which will be 'View by System' this should satisfy your feature request hopefully. Otherwise just setup your emulator configs just to contain your favorites. Or setup new emu configs just with favorites.
  20. Hi, this is fixed in the latest version just released. Thanks. Tom
  21. 26th April 2005 - GameEx 3.61 - Two much asked for features Two much asked for features have now been implemented. I listen! There is now a global favourites list across MAME all emulators and daphne. For users who shell into GameEx or lock their cabs down because of children. There is now a special service mode that unlocks the ability to exit, shut down, update list, create snaps and show game info. To enter service mode do the following: Keep navigating back to until the buffer is cleared. Go to the start page. Then do these controls in order. BACK PAGE UP PAGE DOWN LEFT UP VOLUME UP To lock again and end service mode follow the same procedure. This version also fixes the problem when the latest version did not work when initial Playlist was set to load on a thread and the new setting to not play Jukebox at startup was left it at its default from 3.60 Just to let you know, I am working at getting Robs themes back on line, and am also hoping to get the MAME mng videos back somehow.
  22. Hi David, Did you try contacting emu-france. Should I try? I AM keen to get these available. GameEx is awesome using the MNG videos. Really awesome! I can assure you that you and others are really missing out on this. I could mail you a DVD with what I have, what do you think?
  23. Hi, This will be possible soon, as there will be options to run a an app on starting an emulator game and exiting, similar to MAME has already. Then you can just call a batch that ends the process of JoyToKey (not difficult). Youd have to capture or reencode your movies as AVI files, it can be done. Yourll have to do some research on that though, although anyone else feel free to offer help. Thanks
  24. Hi, If you can show the value and provide detail on exactly what this should do and the beneift, I'll certainly at least consider implementing it myself. Thanks
  25. Can you replace Gameex.exe with the one in the attached zip and post the end of the log. Thanks. Tom GameEx.zip
