  1. http://www.cinemaware.com/browser/dotc/final.asp Run it first install Shockwave then it will run as an HTML app in GameEx
  2. Just added this to my stations in GX. http://www.slayradio.com/
  3. The limit is actually 100 for both PC Games and emulators (although can be extended by me very easily). You need to edit \Config\GameEx.ini manually. Or: Theres a big chance for your feature request, as its already possible See: http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?showtopic=40
  4. GameEx was always meant to work with AdvanceMAME in that manner. You were using it in a way I never designed GameEx for. The main reason, AdvMAME does not support all the functionality and cmd line options MAME does, although it will play the games, but when trying to verify roms, update the list, and get output it does not implement all the options of MAME. At least it never used to. The updates in the new version had nothing to do with AdvanceMAME.
  5. OK, now I can help! You need to use a regular version of MAME in addition to AdvMAME. The normal MAME EXE and path should point to a recent supported normal MAME build. IE MAME.EXE and not ADVMAME.EXE The change in the newer versions is the log does validation on the version of MAME, and displays its version. It triying to do this with AdvanceMAME which is coming up with an error in a dialog box. This is making the GameEx window loose focus, and therefore not able to initialise the Input, hence crash. Keep your advancmame settings but make sure the regular mame settings are pointing to a valid mame build. That should do it. Tom
  6. Please post your log file.
  7. I think GameEx already does this during install, at least it should be. It backs up your old INI file and then adds the missing (new) settings. I think is probably what you would call an implanter.
  8. Now are you not glad you didnt switch to another Front End
  9. Your barking up the wrong tree in regard to resolutions. The 20 consecutive exceptions is a generic thing GameEx does when it encounters issues of all kinds. The latest version of the Windows Advance MAME works fine for me. Sorry no idea.
  10. Hi. There's two things I see straight away. Your running an old version of GameEx. Its very difficult to support older versions, because things get fixed with newer versions, that can solve peoples issues. Thats software for you! The main problem I see though that could cause you problems with a lot of command line emultors, is that you seem to have everything dumped on your desktop. This results is very long paths that some emus genuinly cant cope with. I suggest moving these files to something like C:\EMUS rather than that really long path you have now.
  11. 29th May 2005 - GameEx 4.04 A few fixes and optimizations to Videos and HTML apps Removed unused code, variables, and references with an aim to optimizing memory usage.
  12. Yes please post GameEx.ini and config.csv Thanks.
  13. To Nobody specificly: On the case of Bloat. It really is not bloated. You have to remember that when windows is showing mem usage for an app it includes caching, and other things to do with the way the .net framework optimizes. Also I have written GameEx so if you turn off the features you dont want they wont be initialised and use up memory and resources. Heres an example of the so called bloat which is actually a strong misconception. Go ahead an enable everything. Go ahead and then use everything when GameEx is running. Restore the window then minimize. Wait a few seconds then restore. Ah, wheres the bloat gone. 40MB now! I have an IE process right now showing a normal web page, and thats saying 45MB. Please dont consider GameEx bloated, just because task manager says its using a lot of RAM when its running perfectly fine at full refresh rate. It really isnt bloated code. I am personally also able to run GameEx on a pentium 2 400Mhz OK, and on an 800Mhz with a crappy on board intel video card and it looks pretty damn decent. I am no expert of low level windows memory management. However Talk to me about bloat when GameEx is running crappy not when its working on your machine for weeks on end without a reboot. Or if you really understand the internals of how windows and the .net framework uses memory. The modular approach would allow custom plugins, but HTML plugins are already supported, and its just too much work just for now. Who wants 'My Recipes' anyway?
  14. I think I can see the problem from your log. Your using MAME .062 which is pretty ancient (at least a year and a half old). Go ahead and get yourself the latest version of MAME or MAME32. Good luck. Tom
  15. Why dont you post your gameex.ini and log? Also post runitgame.bat. That way ill be able to help getting it working for you.
  16. Of course that's your choice, but yourll be missing out if you dont percevere. Your loss
  17. If you go into Tweaks/Performance you can set a sleep delay in milliseconds which gameex releases to the CPU for each frame. GameEx runs in a main loop and is constantly running code. Even sitting in the main menu it is drawing to the screen each monitor refresh, and processing input, audio and the display. On my living room room PC, I have the sleep setting at 8 MS. This makes GameEx run at around 50% usage and still at full smooth frame rate. Although I do have an athlon 64 3400. You can set this sleep setting higher if you turn off the VSYNC. This is like the VSYNC in MAME where if you look at the mame docs states it takes up CPU cycles. On an 800Mhz you will probably notice a slow down with the sleep setting unless you turn off Vsync too, but I run it on my my MCE machine to make sure the PC has plenty of power left for recording TV. I did think this is covered in the docs page. Should I write up some more on it?

    SUB FOLDERS

I do still plan to add folder support for emulators. Please be patient.
  19. Hi, it may well be a problem that we can fix (see below). However if you have an older machine and a lot of ROMS, the Verify can take longer than half an hour to run. You can turn off Verify Roms though in the config under advanced mame options. Turn it off and then turn on Only ROMS that exist. You should be happy with that.
  20. Yes it does. Its a compiled auto-it script (Which can be decompiled by the way). It does set the focus for the window. It also allows exiting with just the escape. It also bypasses all the disclaimer and default setup screen for PinMAME. It was written by me a while back.
  21. hmmm. Somethings deffinitly up then. Ill add it to the list. Tom
  22. Youve been, err, well kind of quiet! I hate to say it but I (and am sure the group is) missing your input. Are you receiving? EDIT: Or are you too busy playing MAME to the max with your switchable controls!?
  23. I know the memory usage is high. Its similar to an app like MCE or other HTPC software. I really dont know why it needs quite so much. I dont see any obvious optimisations, but is a possibly. There may be a memory leak for avi snap videos though possibly. However GameEx uses as much CPU time as you want it to, and all of it by default. Theres info about this on the docs page. I agree, it is bloated for old (and I mean very old) systems, but as I've said before, GameEx is a high end frontend and basically htpc software. Its designed for MCE systems, and full spec arcade machines. It aint mean to run on a 486. On all my modern systems, its stable as a rock, and runs for days and days without a slow down or issue, but then again I dont own a system with less than 512MB. I also only run NT based OS's. Would you run DOOM 3, any of the available HTPC software or even Windows XP on a pentium 2? I can highly recommend MAMEWah or Gamelauncher if you want a smaller less functional front end. Tom
  24. Yes, Ill look at it, it only takes a maximum of 5 seconds on 3 of my systems, and on my 3400 Athlon 64 with 1GB (my Living room HTPC PC) about 1 second. So I doubt this is happening for everyone, therefore dont really know what's causing it. I know it does take a fair bit longer than it used to save as theres a lot more settings, but a minute on a 3GHZ is crazy! Have you got latest version of the .net framework including service pack? What RAM do you two have?

    Remap keys

I do certainly understand the need for this feature, and I am working on it. Please be patient.
