  1. Santa was good to me this year and gifted me with a Asus ROG Ally Extreme. It comes with a 512GB 2230 M.2 mini SSD. Upgrading to a 2280 M.2 without modifying the case and internals will not void the warranty. I will be adding the following: Rog Ally Handheld Conversion 2230 to 2280 SSD Hard Drive Expansion Board WD_BLACK 4TB SN850X NVMe Internal Gaming SSD Solid State Drive - Gen4 PCIe, M.2 2280, Up to 7,300 MB/s - WDS400T2X0E M.2 Heatsink Copper, m2 pcie NVMe Laptop PS5 Heatsink Copper, with Silicone Thermal Pad, for M.2 2280 SSD Laptop There are many videos and Reddits available detailing this process with as many recommendations, and, of course, opinions regarding power draw and temperature concerns. Current idle temps are running at 43C average. I have not stressed it with games via Turbo mode as I did not want to install anything only to have to do so again. I have chosen to go the route of system restore via BIOS rather than cloning the drive. More to follow...

  2. GAME: Slay the Spire (Steam) SYSTEM: Steam Deck 512 GB LCD, PC CLOUD SAVE: Yes I have a Steam Deck and have spent a lot of time playing with my library to see what runs well. My latest passion has been Slay the Spire. It's a rogue deck builder type game but it's not a Magic the Gathering clone. It's more like a turn-based RPG (kinda) but the cards you start with and acquire determine your actions. You have to be smart about how many cards you actually have in your deck. Just having cards isn't always a good thing. As you finish drawing the deck the discard pile is shuffled back into your draw pile again so having the right balance of "good cards" vs "a ton of cards" is crucial. I have been playing this game for about 3 months now and I finally FINALLY finished Act III. Which is like beating the first boss in Metal Gear Solid. Yes it is an accomplishment but it's the easiest fight among many. I plan to enjoy - and be frustrated by - this game for a very long time. EDIT: Also important to note the Cloud Saves work with this (and almost all) Steam titles so I can easily transition from my Deck to my PC and back when I want/need to.

  3. Link worked ok for me. I'm kinda both ways on this. Part of me is shocked that it will never be again. I always hoped to go one day, see the new tech and games before anybody else. It was not only a place for bragging, but a way for companies to entice competition and see what others are developing. But on the other hand, I can see how Covid really slapped people in the face and the big companies not wanting to expose themselves to it if they can avoid it. There are other ways to get news of your product out, just not as big and hands on. I really don't know how I feel about this. I'm "slad"... glad but sad. LOL.
