  1. Here is the PlugInUltraStik updated to support the ServoStik. I've also added an "Edit Configuration" button which will open PlugInUltraStik.ini for editing. This includes the latest PacDrive.dll which should overwrite the current one in GameEx's plugin folder. NOTE: This plugin will be available in the next release of GameEx so you should not need to download it here. PlugInUltraStik.zip

  2. The support is added via my UltraStik plugin from the Plugin Manager. It's now posted it in the User Projects area and should be available in the next release of GameEx.

  4. Venomouse - you may want to grab a copy of this image so that you can have it as a reference for the various aspect ratios and the corresponding pixel sizes attributed to each. When creating an image for display, should you create one larger than your screen displays, that will be no problem provided that your image's aspect ratio is the same as your screen's maximum. An example would be working with a 1920 x1200 image and displaying on a 1680 x1050 screen. Since the proportions of height vs width are the same, there will be no distortion when the image is shrunk as both share the same aspect ratio of 16:10. The same would hold true if you reverse the example pixel sizes - creating a 1680 x 1050 image and upscaling to a 1920 x 1200. The proportions (height vs width) are still the same. The caveat to upconverting is that, unless the image is scalable (i.e. a scalable vector graphics - SVG - format) you will encounter pixlation of the image.

  5. Having GameBase support in GameEx has saved me a lot of headache, so I am really thankful that it was added in. I remember headkaze mentioning an update to the theme editor, so fingers crossed that he has some gamebase surprises for us!

  6. It's pretty rare that I re-post emulation news, but this one had me up and doing the happy dance. After several years of hiatus, the ePSXe team is preparing to release the next version of their legendary emulator. I'm pumped for this release you guys! I've checked out the Android version, and it's pretty good! If you're at all interested in ePSXe, and have an Android device (as well as a spare $3.75) I'd encourage you to do the same. It's a great way to support the development of this project. </shameless_pandering>. Any hoo, I'll let the ePSXe team handle the announcement, since they can probably do it better than I can.

  7. So with GameEx recently making the switch to SQLite, I figured it might be a good time to mention some decent SQLite database management tools. Here are two of my favorite free options (although admittedly I don’t work with SQLite very often) SQLite Manager: This is actually a Firefox add-on, but despite that it still manages to hang with some of the more full featured free DB editors I’ve tried. I would imagine that this would be more than enough for the average GameEx user where the focus tends to be simple editing of data. If you’re already a Firefox user, this would be a pretty good fit. SQLite Expert (Personal Edition): So maybe you’re not a Firefox user? Or maybe browser plug-ins just aren’t your bag, baby? SQLite Expert is a fairly full featured SQLite management tool. It’s going to take up 70 MB of hard drive space once installed, so you might want to consider whether you want a more heavyweight tool for the job, but it will definitely get the job done in style. Those are the free tools I’ve used in the past for SQLite administration and management. I’d love to hear about any other suggestions and tools. Update by T Speirs: You can also install the SQLite ODBC Driver and import/link the tables for editing within Microsoft Access.

  8. when it comes to GameBase i think of C64 and when i think of C64 it comes to 21.000 games, which is such a huge amount i wouldnt dare to convert the database . i think it would be easier to ask the guys at gamebase, what way is the best to integrate the gamebase into a cab-friendly-frontend. Necromancyr: I think it is not fair to blame GameEx for not having the feature to use all the extras from Gamebase. please show me a frontend, which does this . MAME has roundabout 3900 unique games and the C64 has 21.000. that is 4x times more games. imagine what a huge task this is, what you ask for GameEx

  10. @nullPointer the font is an Apple font that I am using. Why do you ask? @KRC I was thinking of sticking with one background to keep it simple plus it would be much faster to complete this theme but I thought that might be too boring. What do you guys think? ... Should I use different ones for each system or just stick with one?

  11. THEME ABILITY REQUEST: Ability to add any of the following to a theme (note, any/all of these may be coming in an update but I haven't read through this entire thread so...)...in order of what I think would expand themability: 1. Placeable static images (i.e., not dependent on emu/etc.) for any individual layout where you can do X/Y/Z positioning for them (i.e., insert a png file at x:10 y:100 top z layer in a layout.) 2. Seconding a request above, ability to select what field is used for Image 1/Image 2/etc. from those set in Config Wizard 3. A placeable image (X/Y/Z positioning all controllable) that is based on the emulator name. (e.g., ImageEmu). This could make themeing a lot easier by making it possible to have a emu 'theme' image that can be placed on a standard background. (This may be possible now using a logo, but I'm not sure how and if you were to do it then a logo would be set that might cause missing art issues.) 4. Add missing art images for each image possible in a theme (i.e., Image1, Image2, Image3, etc., all able to have 'MissingImage1-EMUNAME.png's' And...I'm done with requests/suggestions for a bit I think (I may have requested those already...sorry if I did... )

  12. Necromancyr - No defensiveness was given or intended, seriously. However, I will exhibit some now. I, along with others in the forums, have been more than helpful and reasonable in attempting to assist you in answering your questions. When you get a response that is counter to what you feel things should be, you complain or respond with a snarky comment. I have overlooked much, but it almost always ends up the same with you. Constructive criticism is welcome and requests are great. I have never suggested for you to "like it and shutup." I will suggest, however, that you show me, as well as others, a little more respect.

  13. Glad you guys like it. I had a MacPro but I gave that one to my wife when I bought my current system. But thought why not try something different and had some ideas in my head. Here is a preview of what I am doing for the systems with the 5200 being the first that I am working on.

  17. That's exactly what I was thinking about. I realized this would be a very niche request when I suggested it but I would definitely appreciate it if it could be done. MAN! Now I have to buy a new keyboard. Mine doesn't have that one... http://youtu.be/gugbMw4LigY

  18. Yes, triple view would be excellent! While I'm here... Not sure if this has previously been requested, but it would be cool to have a horizontal scroll for the game list. For example, if the game list box width is too narrow, games with long names are cut off. With this scrolling feature, it would scroll to show the whole name.

  19. I will second this request. I know that with a number of console and PC games, besides the manual, there are often supplemental documentation including maps, clues, etc. To have a supplement category that would consist of a folder that follows the ROM naming convention and display when available would be a great addition!
